Greetings LBP Community!

First off, on behalf of the Creation Marathon team, we want to say THANK YOU! Yesterday we posted a survey on thoughts about bringing back Creation Marathon 3 and the response was unbelievable! We got so much feedback and people willing to participate and it made us very happy! We are happy to announce that Creation Marathon 3: Re-Created is official and is being developed and are opening registration today!

The Short BackStory:

Creation Marathon is an event that has been hosted twice by Tendon, Grayspence, and Freezz-Ix and ZeusInTraining. The Creation Marathon is where participants gather into teams and create a level, based on a challenge given, within 24 hours! The third Creation Marathon was in development months ago, but then canceled due to short amount of people participating.

What's New?

As many of us are wondering, we came up with some new content to add to this Marathon!


The Challenge

This Marathon's Challenge will be. . . announced on the Day of the Marathon!


The Journals

Each Group Leader, 3 Group leaders on each team, will work together to write a summarized Journal Entry about their team's experience and level progression after the Marathon. The Group Leaders have to be extremely honest and describe their team's experience throughout the marathon! This will be later looked upon by the Judges as well as the finished level to see which team will win!


The registration for this event will close on July 21st and we will announce the positions a couple days after.


The Date for the marathon to begin is scheduled on July 27th 2013 (may be changed later)



The Rules:

- After Registration, there will be 2 big teams: Red Team and Blue Team. Each team has 3 Groups of Four participants,including the team leader. (Please note that the team sizes will change depending on how many people sign up!)

- Each Team will have Four Group Leaders (Please see below for Role Desciption). They will be the Pod host for their group through out the 24 hour marathon. Participation is a vital role and participants have to accept responsibility of being with the team throughout the event!

Random Team Choosing:

- The Teams will be chosen randomly! We believe that teaming up with other new players under the 24 time pressure will be a nice challenge and experience for players to see how their imagination can combine with others!

How It Works:

A level must be made by each team in 24 hours. Everyone in Group one of their team will begin by joining their Group leader and create on their moon.

Each group works on the level for 4 hours, when the time is up, the Group Leader will publish the level as copyable for the next Group Leader to copy on their moon, and they will work on the level for another 4 hours with their Group, and so on.

The cycle (This goes for both teams) : Group1→Group2→Group3→Group1→Group2→Group3→ Finished!

As you can see from above, each group will have two shifts, each one lasting 4 hours, so 8 hours of creation in total for each creator!

Participation Requirements:

There is none! If you are a LBP player, feel free to register! Just make sure to remember participation is vital since it can change the whole event if a person leaves their team.

Prizes:

Part of the feedback received from the survey is that they want to see prizes implemented into the event. We are still considering having prizes but have not come up with a solid announcement regarding this component. Please stay tuned for more information.

DLC:

There will be no DLC used in this Marathon. The only exception would be if all the Group Leaders in one Team have the same DLC Packs used in the level so there is no copying from moon-to-moon problems.


The Roles

Here are the Roles that you can sign up for!

Group Leaders:

Availability: 4 Spots Left (Number of Spots may change)

Description:

There will be three group leaders on each team.
Group leaders should only sign up to be group leaders if the are SURE they can handle being:
A) The host of the session for both shifts.
B) Be able to collaborate with other group leaders to make the journal entry.
C) Be decent at time management.


The Creators:

Availability: 2 Spots Left (Number of Spots may change)

Description

There will be nine creators on each team (18 in total for both teams).

The Creators are with their group leader and can handle being:
A) In their designated Group Leader's Pod at the right time.
B) Be able to collaborate with other members in their group to create under the 2 shifts.
C) Hold responsibility of being on time and not skipping a shift.

The Volunteers:

Availability: Unlimited Spots Left (Can't guarantee all will get a chance to participate)

Description:

In some cases where a Creator can't make it for a marathon, or the Creator spots are filled,
volunteers will act as a substitute to replace them.

The Volunteer amount is unlimited so feel free to apply!

A) Based on a First-Come, First-Serve basis.
B) Based on their timezone, they will be assigned a group to sub in for, if something goes wrong.

The Judges:

Availability: Unknown amount of Spots Left

Description:

As a Judge, you will judge at the end of the marathon to see which team wins. Anyone can register to be a Judge,
however, the judges will be picked by us.

The Judges' responsibilities are as followed:
A) They are not allowed to be in a team, see journal entries, or participate until the Marathon is done.
B) You will play both levels and read both journal entries when it is time.


How to Register

In order to participate, please tell us the following by replying to this post:

- If the day of the Marathon is good for you, if not which day do you prefer?

- Your TimeZone (preferably in GMT or EST)

- The role you want to apply for!

We appreciate your excitement, Valeview! Creation Marathon 3: Re-Created was only planned and organized by two people in only two days, haha. This marathon is kind of like a recovery project since this was cancelled before and we were not planning anything new (i.e Create Marathon 4). We will definitely consider the whole crew in the future, the previous crew members who worked on the other two have been amazing!

There are 3 groups of 4, gary_WBA. Everyone works on the same level, the group creator publishes the level they worked on with their group and passes it on to the next group leader in their team so that group can continue where the other group left off. The judges judge the 2 finished levels, one from Team Red and one from Team Blue, and they review the journal entry written by the group leaders of each team.

I would really like to participate... but I've got a mission trip going until the 28th. I'd love to enter the next one, or this one if it's rescheduled at all.

Everyone takes turns, gary_WBA. First is group 1 with 4 hours of creating, then group 2 continues with another 4 hours creating by adding on to what group 1 made. Then group 3 has 4 hours to create continuing off what group 2 made. We do this twice, so the hours add up to 24 hours.

Adjusting to what the previous group had created is part of the challenge, gary_WBA. Time is limited so its a challenge to see how you spent each minute tweaking or adding on to what the group makes. You can't re-do that whole section because it would waste time, but you can definitely offer advice. As for the prizes, we are in talks of something but it is not final yet.

It would be a good strategy, pj15. The order the groups in are placed accordingly to fit time zones, we try our best to make the shifts accurate enough.
