Tennis mini-game aiming?

So I'm creating a top-down tennis mini-game, but I've run into a problem; I don't know how I can make the player hit the ball where they aim.
I've tried having the ball rotate when it hits the racquet, and moving in the direction it points, but it ends up moving in an arc, because it takes time to rotate.
I also tried having the ball be destroyed when it hits the racquet, and an emitter on the racquet emit a new ball in the direction the player aims, but it ends up looking like the ball disappears and reappears on the racquet.
Does anyone have any ideas for how I can make the ball move in the direction the player is aiming smoothly and naturally? Thanks in advance!

wheres shadowriver when u need him . hmm have u tried to make a follower going to a tag on the otherside that communcates/controlled by your aim and after the ball is hit, the tag will remain stationary until the ball gets within a short distance of the tag.

so sequence of events

aim where ball will go/tag ---- hit the ball ---- tag turns on and stays where u last had cursor set as u hit the ball ---- ball comes within a short distance of tag ----- tag shuts off --- ball stays onthe projected path as if tag was never there ---- creat a mirror image for other player. end result 2 seperate tags/followers that switch back and forth based off who hit the ball last.
