The Flip Side

Whup whup WHUP! After a 1.5 years making this stupid thing, I'm back! Flimroy The Fish isn't exactly pleased that Beardyweirdy took his Bag-O-Flies. You'll retrieve it and smooth things over in the friendship department, won't you? STRICTLY 1 PLAYER

I hope you guys like my latest level, it took me waaay to long to make. Hopefully with school slowing down I'll be able to pick things back up more quickly.

One of the things I've learned from many great creators is when you make a level, make something nobody's ever seen before. "The Flip Side" is an idea I had for awhile, the entire level's game camera upside-down. I've seen short segments with an upside-down camera, especially from non-story platformer style creators such as RikiRiki-ita, but never an entire level.

Also, I wanted to apologize to anybody that thought I fell of the face of the earth. This took a REALLY long time to make. The hardest thing was actually getting the game camera's working, they don't like being up-side down, or having another one on while they are

The level is fairly hard, and the time it takes complete each gameplay motif makes the length of the level much longer than anything I've done before. The gameplay ideas and challenges were inspirations from creators such as Pacjonno, jackofcourse, and VelcroJonze. I've made a fairly easy level and made a huge twist that makes is respectfully hard. (Note: not for the light of heart) A simple task such as jumping over a row of spikes now becomes much more challenging as your instinct to move the left stick to the right is now reversed..

The art style is inspired from creators such as Mnniska, JplusK, Tokyomegaplex, Grayspence, and codibear8383. It's always been an art style I've loved, and only recently picked up, a kind-of new era cartoon feel, a trend that started from some of the other new media such as cartoons like Adventure Time and Regular Show. A cartoon panel with a level inside.

For such a cartoon style, this was nightmarishly difficult to get through. I did find a few holes where I would fall out of the level. I wonder if it would be conceivable to have a non-flipped camera view of this level. Even if it had a straight up perspective, it would still be very hard, but would give people a chance to not rage-quit. (Though I did not. I made it to the scoreboard eventually.) The platforming elements are solid, and you can tell a lot of work has gone into this.2013-07-01 13:55:00

there IS a easter egg where you can skip in my mind the most difficult part, the jetpack with the rotating spikes. Just grab the swinging sponge with the eyes that warns you it not going to be easy.		2013-07-01 18:50:00
