Music Sequencer Help? Bass tones and other tips or tricks
Archive: 4 posts
As part of a project, I've been attempting to recreate Grim Grinning Ghosts in LBP. I love the music, and the mood it could set for a level, but as of yet haven't made it very far in my attempts. In particular, i'm having issue recreating the lovely bass tones found in the beginning of this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4yy7ROROlk I don't expect to have a perfect match, but so far everything i've tried has been silent as the grave- and who wants to listen to barely audible music? If anyone could give me some tips on how to bring home the bass, that would be great I'd also appreciate any other advice you can give me regarding using the sequencer. I've never used it properly before, and don't really know how to best make use of it. Thanks a bunch in advance! | 2013-06-28 21:35:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Hi, Burn. Lady told me of your dilemma. I will listen to the video and create the bass sequencer for you. It will be easier to explain how to do it if you can see how I manipulate the notes. Also, if your sequencer is barely audible, it could be you have the global setting for music volume set too low. The global setting is in your Utilities popit all the way to the right on the last page. It could also be the volume setting on your instrument is too low. To check or verify this setting, select the instrument and then select your "square" button twice to get to the sound controls for the instrument. I'm just sharing these points in case this is your first attempt at using the sequencer. You can also increase the effect of the instrument by copying the instrument a couple of times and placing it above or below the original instrument on the same measure. I'll send it to you on LBP when I'm done, and maybe we can hook up online this weekend and I can give you a live tutorial. | 2013-06-29 02:53:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
Whoa, that would be awesome! And it probably is one of the settings... there are a lot of different options in getting this music to work, and i'm having trouble wrapping my head around it all! | 2013-06-29 03:00:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Burn...something else you can do until I get the bass created for you, is play my MGS L1 Music Gallery (by my LBP Profile pic) again and collect my song called "Desert Rain". This is a perfect sequencer for learning how to build a song. Take it into a blank level, set your global settings to the following, for the best quality sound: A. Background Volume set to 0% B. Sound Effects Volume set to 0% C. Music Volume Set to 100%. Also, turn your TV volume up to around 26 to 28, so you can hear the subtle notes. Open the circuit board and then view the instruments and the way I build on the notes as the song progresses. Something else I just thought of that could be causing your volume issue is your notes are sizable. In other words, they can be made very small (the size of a pin head) or maximum diameter in size. The size of the note effectively increases or decreases the intensity of the note. This is a very useful feature when you have several chords in an instrument, but some of the notes need to be more subdued than others. | 2013-06-29 03:18:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
