There's a lot of legal speak in it, but further down one of the important sections is their outlook for the situation. It states that the game division is clearly the most desirable and functional part of Index's business, and that's one area they plan on expanding on specifically. They will seek out and select a sponsor as soon as possible to conduct a business transfer before the situation further damages the value of this core business. Sounds like they're looking for a partner or a straight buy-out. By the looks of things, an Atlus IP buyout is imminent as Index tries to prevent themselves from dissolving.

Hopefully this won't have a negative effect on Atlus. They make some brilliant games, and I really want to see Blazblue 3. They've not even announced it yet!

They bring us a lot of good games so I hope they stay in the market. That would be Persona 4: Arena. Great game in its own right. I was really looking forward to that game but PQube handled the EU release so poorly, delaying it by a year, that it really put me off. I should have just imported it to begin with.

...P4:A is one of the few region-locked PS3 games. That's not a problem, at least on my fat. I just wish I had bailed sooner as the release date got pushed further and further back. It started with licensing issues or something in certain EU countries, then it got pushed even further back because they were worried about it clashing with another fighting game being released. It was handled really badly.

Sega has confirmed it has bought Index. The part of Sega that bought Index is called Sega Dream Corporation, founded on 5th September 2013. That's not made up. This from Sega's press release announcing the deal: "The Company believes that transfer of Index's operations to Sega will create synergies, on the grounds that the deal will enable the Company to: (1) gain access to prominent IPs in the home video game software, through which the Company can expect to achieve steady flows of revenue; (2) expect further facilitation of revenue growth for the PC Online Game Business and Content Business for Smart Devices operated by Sega and Sega Networks Co., Ltd. by exploiting acquired prominent IPs and (3) maximize the value of acquired IPs by effectively deploying them in the Pachislot and Pachinko Machines segment, Amusement Machine Sales and Amusement Center Operations segments." http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-18-sega-buys-index-owner-of-persona-dev-atlus-reports

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-18-sega-buys-index-owner-of-persona-dev-atlus-reports This can either be really good, or really bad. Atlus could be used to help increase localization output, or Atlus USA could become a husk of their former selves. I really hope that it's the former.

I honestly think that they are in good hands with Sega. Sega is a company that I have a deep respect for, and I'm pretty sure they won't do anything to alter Atlus in a bad way.
