United States v Windsor [DOMA: 5-4] http://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/717671/us-v-windsor.pdf Hollingsworth v Perry [Prop 8: 5-4] http://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/717699/hollingsworth-v-perry.pdf Tl;dr - G.ay Marriage is no longer discriminated on a federal level, and the earlier courts decision on Prop 8 being unconstitutional stands. Effect? G.ay Marriage is now legal in california, and federal benefits are given to all *** couples regardless of home states view on marriage. Thoughts? Also, why is there a filter on g.ay? | 2013-06-26 18:35:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |

Ladies and gentleman, I invite you to schadenfreude. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/26/supreme-court-strikes-down-defense-marriage-act-provision/#comments Hm, nah, I don't want to view fox news comments on something like this. I want to have SOME semblance of faith in humanity, after all. | 2013-06-26 18:41:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

The last straw for me was some of the more insane people on tumblr. | 2013-06-26 18:42:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
What's the point, you'll lose it eventually. The last straw for me was some of the more insane people on tumblr. Well, I mean that I have a somewhat happy mood at the moment, and I don't want to dampen it by reading that stuff. | 2013-06-26 18:43:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
idk... its the persons decision who they want to marry... >.< never understood the controversy around this... also, theres probably a filter so no bullys show up... the doma thing i dont understand... what benefits? >.< nothing is really clear for me. im guessing if it was money related that was the reason it wasnt exepted... | 2013-06-26 18:43:00 Author: Seant1228 Posts: 348 |

There are lots of benefits that same-sex partners are excluded from; If a male US citizen wants to marry a man from another country, his partner wouldn't be eligible for a green card under current US law...lots of things like that that a lot of people are not even aware of. DOMA was really just another layer of discrimination against against same-sex couples as same-sex marriage becomes more accepted in the US, so it was never going to last long. | 2013-06-26 19:01:00 Author: Chazprime Posts: 587 |
As long as everyone is a consenting adult, I see no reason to say they can't do it. So the slippery slope argument doesn't work. I even think that, if three or more people want to be in a relationship, why should the government stop them? The only thing is that giving them all legal equality in a three person relationship would be a nightmare, but same sex marriage could just have them take the rules for regular marriage and be done with it. But yeah, refusing entry to hospital rooms is just almonds :/ | 2013-06-26 19:06:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Thoughts? Another step in the right direction for something that really shouldn't take this much effort to get done. Also, why is there a filter on g.ay? Guessing that it was put in long ago on the assumption that it would be used by idiots to go hurr thats ***. Really it should be unfiltered and apropriate action taken for incorrect usage. | 2013-06-26 20:17:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Well I am a conservative, but I don't want people to discriminate homosexuals for being different. We should be done with prejudice since the 1960's, including against homosexuals. Oh, and I hope WBC (the hate group) gets silenced since the DOMA law is thrown out. | 2013-06-26 21:17:00 Author: Apple2012 Posts: 1408 |
