Wolpertinger meets Bunyip

Archive: 13 posts

Hello friendly sackpeople.

Huh, what does he want to say with this funny words? Wolpertinger? Bunyip? What?

Well, please give me a minute to explain:

You know about those mystical creatures, people talk about and strongly believe, they exists? Those creatures, nobody can proof their existance?
One of this creatures is the German Wolpertinger. Another creature is the Australian Bunyip.
Some days ago I told my good friend LittleBlackAdder from Australia about our Wolpertinger.
He googled some pics of it and creates this adorable costume of a Wolpertinger:

http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/7f05b2b017b9f5a335ad0908daea1c771c1af248.jpg

He told me about the Australian Bunyip. Now I'd like to create a costume of a Bunyip

And so we got an idea: why don't make a little costume contest just for fun?
We want you to create costume of one of this creatures. Does not each country have some mystical creatures?

Hey friends from America: would you create a funny bigfoot/sasquatch or a terrific mothman?
Scottish mates: what about Nessi, the creature from Loch Ness?
Friends from Brazil: why not creating a saci?
Sacky from Russia: what about a Russalka costume?
People from Japan: would you like to create a Kappa costume?

Sacky from all over the world: show us your mystical creatures! Spread your mythology around the Little Big Planet
(Sorry, I don't mentioned more countries, but I don't know more national mystic creatures )

Participating is easy:
- create a costume
- picture it
- upload the pic in this thread
- write the name of the creature in your post and maybe a sentence with a little explanation of its story

If enough participants come, I maybe create a vernissage level to show your pictures there.
Sorry, there is no prize to win, but the fun to create and share <3

There is no deadline at the moment. If you like, we can do a poll in some weeks to vote a winner, but we don't have to

Hi avundcv,

what a fantastic idea, this is promising to become a great fun!^^
But I have to correct you! The Wolpertinger is no fabulous creature, its real and its still wide-spread in the remote mountain valleys of South Bavaria! Though you can see one only very rarely! Thats because nowadays only few people know that Wolpertingers can only be watched in nights of new moon! And the knowledge how to lure them out of the undergrowth, which I've got from my grandpa, has also vanished into oblivion!^^

I remember, once when I was a child my grandpa took me with him and we went on a Wolpertingerstalking! Our equipment has been a candle, a rope and a sugar-bread (for those who don't know it: a sugar-bread is a bread with butter, where you put a lot of sugar onto it! Then you turn the bread so that only the sugar remains on the bread which adheres to the butter! All children loved sugar-bread!^^)

You can lure the Wolpertinger out of the undergrowth in nights of new moon by fixing the sugar-bread on the rope and then waiting til the Wolpertinger notices the sugar-bread! Then you draw the rope step by step and the Wolpertinger will follow the sugar-bread til you have him on a forest clearing where you have put the inflamed candle! Seeing the candle-light, the Wolpertinger falls into a short state of trance! And thats the moment when you can watch a free-living Wolpertinger!
Photographs of wild-living Wolpertingers are rather rare! Thats because you cant't use a flash which would frighten the Wolpertinger and chase him away forever! And the use of long exposure time is also seldom successful because the state of trance is mostly not long enough so that the pictures are mostly blurred!
Back to the night with my grandpa there have been even two Wolpertingers, probably a couple, unfortunately I couldn't see them with my own eyes, because I fell asleep before that! But my grandpa has told me about and the sugar-bread has also been gone!^^

lMany greetings, Jürgen^^

Gather around everybody and let me tell you the story of the Chupacabra *Adjusts guitar string*

Awesome idea for a contest. I'm in!

I'm not good at making costumes, but it's too fun of an idea to pass up.
I did a quick google search and there are some crazy mythical creatures... Skunk Ape...

Some Creatures

Friends from Australia: please forgive me. I really tried to create a bunyip but it seems I am the worst bunyip designer ever
I really respect this creature, I?m just not able to design it. This is my version of a bunyip

Then I thought, maybe it's better for me to create a German creature, so I decided to make this valkyrie

o/' "What would I give to live where you are?
What would I pay to stay here beside you?
What would I do to see you smiling at meeeeeeee?
Where would we walk, where would we run,
If we could stay all day in the sun?
Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be,
part of your wooooooooooooorld!" o/'

And nod to Harry and the Henderson's with the Santa hat.

Ha ha ha Great!!!!! I have a lot of fun looking at your creations

@FabFio71: What an adorable mermaid. Let?s swim a round together

@Luke_MK_II: Great idea - excellent djinn. Does he grant 3 wishes?

@Greensmurfey: Yay - that?s the most fluffy and cuddly bigfoot I've ever seen. Where can I get one as pet?

Thank you so much for creating such excellent creatures
