Jellyfish's Garden -

Archive: 28 posts

OMG I thought I was going to die without LBPC to publish my level. I published on LBN but isnot the same thing.
Anyway.

There was a long time since I published my last level - (LBPC10)[Winner] Prisoner Of Limits - And now I introduce you...

Jellyfish's Garden!

There is no story on the level, is just a normal level with 2 new skills for your sackboy.

"With his (or her) new skills, Sackboy (or sackgirl) decides to go to the garden in the sky. The higher garden ever, the Jellyfish's Garden! In this garden, the jellyfishes rules and you just run for not be killed! Good luck!"

Well, here it is some pictures to make you want to play it (or not).

Yuy! LBPC is working again!

I think the last time i played this was about a few days ago, it was pretty much what it probably is like right now, and i really liked the level! Although everything is pretty random... i mean, cannons? A sackbot? Jellyfishes? Clouds!!? They don't really have to do anything with eachother. It would have been better if there were no jellyfishes, or more of them (there were just about 2 that really stood out, at the beginning and at that chase, you should have added some in the background)

I don't really care for the sense.
If it has a fun gameplay, it's ok for me. I create things that come up in my mind.
I'll just be no-nonsense when there will be some story in the level.
All you need to know is that Jellyfishes can fly, Jellyfishes want to kill you, and Jellyfishes live in a garden. In the sky.

Just played your level, awesome!

Loved all the different sections, the visuals were epic (I loved the jellies) and the gameplay was top notch and varied. The running animation was hilarious too btw.

I'm thinking on making a sequel explaining why these jellyfishes are able to fly.

Do you guys think that the tiny spaceship part was hard? Some people are saying this, I think I'm going to change something. Or maybe not. I don't know. Help me D:

Queued (again)! I will play it again more later, the Monday I played it but the level link didn't work well. 8)
By the way, 25 Plays? Really? I suppose you overwrite the level badge over the locked one, right? If you do that your levels will never reach the cool levels page.

Yes, I overwrited to the blocked one. But... I don't want to reach the cool pages. If I got spotlighted, that's fine.2013-06-27 17:32:00

No, I think it's fine. The ship is moving pretty fast so it needs some good reflexes to complete it without crashing into a wall. If there are many people that have problems with this, I would decrease the speed a little, but not too much. Otherwise it wouldn't be challenging anymore.

This level is very well made and fun. Gameplay is very varied and well made. However, I do have one minor complaint: this level feels like a combination of these LBP2 levels:

http://lbp.me/v/hv016r
http://lbp.me/v/esyyed
http://lbp.me/v/fdvbgs
...and a few others.

The fact that you combined these elements in such a professional and fun way is impressive, but a lot of the level (aside from the rocket section and the wind at the end) feels a bit overly inspired by other levels. Do not get me wrong: this is a very, very good level. The elements blend really well together and I ran into no issues. This level further proves you are a great creator.

Perhaps next time, instead of having all these ideas, focus on expanding just one. I'd love to see what you could do with a bit more focus.

Hearted and yayed. Hopefully there's a Team Pick coming your way.

Thank you!

Well, I never played the last two levels.
I must admit I really copied the idea of The button by comphermc! About the floating water, It was a coincidence, since when this level has been MM Picked, I had created the floating water a long time before. (There was a lot of people who tested my levels before I publish it, so you can ask them).

Well, I'm terrible at writing long sentences in English, hope you understand.

EDIT: And the running thing too. I created this bot a long time ago, before this level exists!
EDIT 2: About the cannons, I got more inspired on the Gwaeron's level. http://vita.lbp.me/v/c-g68

Nope, no need for change. If you really wanted though you could include more checkpoints during the spaceship part.

10/10 for me mayne, the little space was a bit hard at first but then i understood how to control it and it was amazing.

i really loved the graphics and the jellyfish theme, awesome usage of the water and loved the running and running animation+sound

dunno why but i was thinking of spongebob squarepants the whole time lol

the LBP vita is nearing 1 years old but the levels are getting better and better!

surely this must be team picked

Maybe you was thinking about spngebob because there is Jellyfishes on sky, exactly how is fire in the ocean on songebob. I don't know, the non-sense maybe helped you, haha.

Alright, so to lead off, amazing level with so many cool ideas. The floating bubbles of water, the switching colors/world features, the rocket ship section, the L button speed boost. There are a lot of things there that I couldn't begin to figure out how you did. The thing is, there was so much switching and adding that it was at times difficult to pull it all off. This is not a bad thing, it just made it tricky. What I would really like to see is taking some of those mechanics and turning them into entire levels. I found the floating water (ala, New Super Mario Bros) to be particularly amazing. As a whole, it was a really good and challenging level that deserves really positive attention. Keep up the amazing work...and maybe do a floating swimming bubble tutorial; that was cool.2013-07-04 04:46:00

Thank you. I really appreciate your review .
The next level that I'm already creating is a platformer... Very normal this time, indeed.

This is one of the most interesting and fun level for LBP Vita! Also, environment is very nice, and the animation of jellyfishes is truly cool. I'm sure that "Jellyfish's Garden" will be team picked soon!)2013-07-06 11:01:00

Great level. It is filled with variety of gameplay, additional controls, and amazing visuals. With a lot of amazing stuff in one level, this one is a must play.
PROS:
+Various gameplay
+Floating waters (can someone teach me how to use this technique in LBP2 and LBPV)
+Jellyfish design
+Cannons that remind me of 'Donkey Kong Country'
+Running ability
+Jellyfish chase
+Rocket gameplay
+Polished visuals
+Music choices
CONS:
-The rocket could have better maneuverability, but that's a minor complaint
OVERALL: A yay and heart
