Sketches, Doodles, Scribbles, Drawings, BLEH

Archive: 16 posts

I haven't made a post in a while. In fact, I haven't made an art thread in a while. It usually dies and it's buried so far down under the fertile topsoil of time that I just make a new one. Except that won't happen this time; I got a LOT of stuff to post.

I guess we'll start off with the drawings in my sketchbook? I'll go in chronological order (time drawn) for this one.
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45840&d=1371132393
A drawing of John and Kasey from Homestuck. The first few drawings got kinda smudged up because I've had them for half a year.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45842&d=1371132409
The Alpha Kids of Homestuck. This one took a while.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45855&d=1371132479
This one takes some explaining. Basically I hadn't signed something that I needed to and stressed myself out, thinking I had ruined some kid's day. It actually ended up being totally fine.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45843&d=1371132416
Dave from Homestuck. Smudges suck and they're all over the place. Don't know why this page decided to smear like a Milky Way in a sedan on a hot summer day.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45856&d=1371132484
Got bored and doodled badly all over a blank page. Looks like there's some of them there Pokemans. This is right before the barrage of Hetalia related drawings, hence the warning at the bottom.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45844&d=1371132421
A drawing of the Italy bros from Hetalia. This is about where I start improving.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45846&d=1371132433
Sketches of hands, arms, and China holding Russia or something. I really watched too much of that show.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45847&d=1371132438
Sprite. Pretty straightforward.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45860&d=1371133396
The Nordic countries as they appear in Hetalia. From left to right it's Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. I had Sweden, but I don't really like how he turned out.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45848&d=1371132444
The development of the characters in a book I made for art class. The one with the crown is Sir Duncan Cottonknickers, the elf is Goosbourne Skipwith, and the other one's just a witch.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45849&d=1371132449
A drawing of Duncan and Skipwith. I discovered the mystical black colored pencil, and ever since, my drawings have turned for the better.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45850&d=1371132454
A drawing of Scott Pilgrim. That's it.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45857&d=1371132489
Teh Smorphs. Papuh Smarf iz gun ned a reel big shawvel eefn' he wants ta maek a flowr.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45851&d=1371132460
A drawing of Denmark from Hetalia again and some other guy. I was initially practicing folded arms. Don't know what that thing at the top is though. Probably Kenny Loggins.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45858&d=1371132494
Drawn during an assembly. I was bored. Bored is bad. I also think at one point I was trying to name nationalities ending with "an" with my friend.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45859&d=1371132499
Batman reciting his most famous quote.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45852&d=1371132465
Woah, hey, it's Finland again, new and improved, now only $9999.99. Call Conan O'Brien in the next few minutes and get a free full-color flag, colored with the finest of colored pencils.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45845&d=1371132427
You might want to zoom in for this one. It's a whole bunch of sketches I made for a character I hope to implement in something someday. I consulted with my friend, and she came up with the name Sir Willace. I like it a lot, so I don't want to just leave it to die.
Larger Picture (zoom in with your browser for a better look) (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45845&d=1371132427)

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45853&d=1371132470
More sketches of Sir Willace, some old guy, the princess, his mom, and some guy that I think I want to be his dad.
Larger Picture (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45853&d=1371132470)

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45854&d=1371132474
My friends make me draw things in Biology. They are the authors and I am the illustrator. It is genius and we deserve a Mullberry Award or whatever those annoying things blocking the picture on the front cover of some books is.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45841&d=1371132400
I know you think this is a photo, but it's not. It's actually an intricate portrait of my friends playing 21, as opposed to dogs playing Poker, because that's retarded. Probably the best masterpiece yet.
And now for doodles. The thing is, I have a habit of doodling on all of my school work. It's not a distraction, more of just something I do while directions are being given or I've finished working. They're hard to explain. Most of them just don't have explanations. I think I'll update these daily or something, I have a LOT.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45862&d=1371135387
lol this barely even qualifies as work. Gotta take them notes yo.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45863&d=1371135392
But wait, there's more. On the back. Contains as much meaning as found in Pocahontas' hit single, Colors in the Wind.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45861&d=1371135383
Questioned my existence while doing German work.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45864&d=1371135396
Honestly, I never remember why I draw these. Every time I get a German quiz back, I flip it over to see a doodle I made before I turned it in, and I don't even remember its purpose anymore. It's like Christmas every day, except if all you got was multicolored toe-socks.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45896&d=1371202065
AFFE. AFFE EEEEOOOOH.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45897&d=1371202066
Pulling inspiration from her life-long role model, Sandy Cheeks, Space Squirrel ascends into the cold yet beautiful vacuum of space, sadly without a suit, soon entering a metamorphosis that turns her into Tom Hanks.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45895&d=1371202061
Biology is fun with Kenny Loggins the Moo Beast.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45904&d=1371310944
I think you can see what's happening here. My friend told me about Homestuck in Biology, and I was enlightened with the magic of it all that I started to try and draw what she was describing. Don't know what that duck is doing there though. May have just been me.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45905&d=1371310948
This is on the back of the previous paper; I think I was thinking about Megaman and LBP as well, my mind trails off like that. But you can see that she drew a diagram of all the troll horns in the bottom right corner, that and my first rendition of Karkat right above it, the one under the guy on fire. I drew him after she explained him to me. She said it was actually really accurate, and now I see that it definitely is.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45902&d=1371310942
I've ventured to far into the forest and now I can't turn back.

Also I think I'll split every 10 doodles into its own spoiler, because there are just so many.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45903&d=1371310943
History, along with my time spent reading Homestuck.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45922&d=1371415521
A wild cow appeared. I could not let this opportunity escape because of learning. Cows go moo. This had to correct this.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45924&d=1371415528
I just thought I'd put this here, I almost forgot about it, man I was hyped up on jelly beans that day. We were watching a movie about polar bears.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45920&d=1371415512
On the back of the polar bear paper; it was dark, and all I could hear was a hysterical laugh coming from a slap-happy penguin. I couldn't take it. Had to vent it out. Hated that guy, it's good to be optimistic, but there's a point where it's just insanity.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45923&d=1371415524
The more I see these the more I realize Homestuck was part of my life for a while. This is History work. At least it has something to do with time. Dragons are legit, right?

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45921&d=1371415517
This is Biology. The only reason I can tell is because of the virus at the top right. I guess I'm a visual learner? Looks more like a light house now though, may have ended up writing about pirates and dinosaur men.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45943&d=1371499129
My friends started talking about places in German class and I drew them along with stupid ideals and whatnot. If you wanna call them that. Here we see the wild Israel and Italy.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45944&d=1371499130
Belgium and Lithuania; as for Belgium, I've actually been to one of their nut parades or something and I got hit by a nut. It hurt. I still have it though, smells of waffles and pain. More pain than from just being hit by a nut, that trip was cray-cray. It involves headaches, rain, mud, hiking, cold, Christmas songs, Canadian slang, and scaring bartenders with swords, but that's a story for another day.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45946&d=1371499135
Hmm, these doodles aren't even my craziest yet, but I don't really know what's going on here. A few characters I scribbled up I suppose. That bunny doesn't look very happy. This is on the back of another German quiz.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45942&d=1371499128
Here we see the first of many Harry Potters going "OOOH!" with that ugly hat creature screeching "GRYFFINDOR!" on his head. I was the master wizard in German class, I even had a hat to go with it. Legit, I wore it in class multiple times.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45962&d=1371561693
Oop. What did I tell ya? Unfortunately I lied. I had a bunch, but I could only find two. The rest are forever lost in the void.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45963&d=1371561694
I WILL NEVER FORGET. I WILL NEVER REGRET.
(German Notes)
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45964&d=1371561695
"Aw snap, Bobby, dat cray-cray horsepatty real' gon' n' dunnit."
"E' evn' got 'is drivin' license dealy?"
"Nah."
(German Quiz)
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45945&d=1371499132
Listening to Childish Gambino caused hungry hippo to release his full potential, he donned his favorite tee and raised his power level by sixty-seven thousand tiers, blasting Mushroom Nose into oblivion. Guy Moon grinned in the shadows.
It has begun.
(German Quiz)

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45980&d=1371731298
The Aardvark family consults the IRS.
(German Quiz)
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45981&d=1371731302
All of my knowledge unraveled and came together in one giant bear who loves honey and his wise fairy godkumquat.
(German Quiz)
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=45979&d=1371731291
The tragic story of Kurt and Rose. Kurt is a cheater. He cheats with Julia. They'll never win Monopoly.

Corrected this biology paper.

Also how do you get rid of this attachment thing? It's hogging all the space. Go away. Actually no stay. You can click on those if you want to see a bigger version of every picture I think.

Lol. Ranting Batman. These doodles are great! They have a nice cartoon feel. Actually, have you ever considered making a webcomic? I think your style would suit one.2013-06-13 15:59:00

Thanks! Yeah, I've always wanted to make one. I just don't know where I could host it. My friend suggested DeviantArt, but I don't really know how that works.

Hetalia sketches!

Love analog artwork. It's a necessary step, I feel, toward "understanding art" which sounds really pretentious as I type it. But you know? The way some animators were weaned on digital stuff and can do 3D keyframing and so forth but are utterly hopeless about making stop-motion, hand-drawn stuff, digital artists can draw a picture with their $2700 Cintiq Wacom but have little to no ability to draw a basic picture.

Love sketches. Love analog artwork. So little of mine is online (hate sharing!) (love sketching though!) that I especially appreciate this sort of thing, for the bravery. You're showing your craft in development, which can be too embarrassing to some of us.

Keep it up!

EDIT: UPDATE:
As a once-teacher I can say, doodles are a secret joy to find while grading papers. Breaks up the monotony. If your grades and class performance are GOOD or TERRIBLE you'll already be kind of appreciated. If you're GOOD and draw AWESOME DOODLES those teachers probably love the heck out of it.

That's really interesting. I never really knew what my teachers thought of my stuff until just recently when they started talking with me about them, which makes me glad, because now I don't feel like they're destructive or disruptive or anything like that. I wish I had my final exam, that was a field day. I used to be scared to talk about it or show it to friends because I always felt like I was showing off or something and I ended up feeling bad. I also agree about the way sketching can build up skill, especially if one enjoys it and it just becomes natural.

EDIT: JUNE 15:
Also new doodles MYYARRRRH.

It's not considered a double post if you have new substantial information to add and a reasonable amount of time has passed. 2013-06-18 14:41:00

Oh, ok, thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time.

We have nut parades? :O
Yeah, in Bastogne there was one. It has something to do with WWII. I think it's more of a short event than a parade, but all I remember is baskets of nuts being thrown into a crowd from a balcony for a long time, getting hit, and giant statues of a family that really creeped me out. Nut Throwing I think it was called? Pretty straightforward. Should have expected to get pelted by at least one nut.

JUNE 20:
More doodles. I'll be gone for a month, so yeah.
Forget that daily thing.
Until then though!

Oh, in Bastogne, that's like in the french part of Belgium. We, in the dutch part throw with chicken legs. 8D (No really, we do.)

Donnie Darko claimed the most beautiful phrase in the world was "Cellar Door." Now I know better.

The actual most beautiful phrase in the world is 'The Aardvark family consults the IRS.' This is non-negotiable.

Lol @ fixed biology paper.
