When Square-Enix was showing the trailer, and I saw the Disney logo, I wasn't surprised to see that KH3 was finally announced. I'm not much of a Kingdom Hearts fan, but I'm happy to see that all the fans finally can be excited for the 3rd game in the series.2013-06-11 04:42:00

I think this confirms Final Fantasy XV is about done. Thats what was keeping KH3 from being in development. The creator lead the FF XV project since it was announced. It even has the same music composer. I do hope this doesnt feel like Final Fantasy XV 2.02013-06-11 04:48:00

All right! Another great reasons to buy PS4. The only worlds I can think of that I like to see in KH3 are 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire', 'Treasure Planet' and some Pixar movies.2013-06-11 19:35:00

Even though Disney owns star wars and some marvel, I'm not quite in a hurry to see those yet.

Toy story from pixar line would be great.
Trying to think if The Great Mouse Detective would have an interesting world, but it might be better to go with The Rescuers for mice characters.

I also agree to Atlantis, that should have arrived long ago.

I'd be prepared to not buy the game then. I am willing to bet that Tangled or some Pixar movies will be in. And honestly, though it wasn't a part of my childhood, Tangled was pretty good when I watched it because watching Disney princess movies is what evil warlords do.2013-06-12 00:47:00

I'm excited for KH3 though I'm kind of doubting we will see Star Wars in it but that would be cool. The only thing I don't get is that Square Enix has announced that it will be on Xbox One. I don't get this because the HD Remix is still Playstation only so how the heck is anyone who gets a Xboz One will know what is going on unless they were a super fan who has played the games on the playstation 2 way earlier? In any case I still will get a PS4 just for this game alone. I'm excited to hear Kingdom Hearts is coming to the ps4. KH was by far my favorite game when it came out. It's crazy how long it has been since the last game.

Your guys suggestions all are great... Tangled, Pixar movies (Toy Story, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo), Atlantis.

I think Jungle Book would make a cool world.
I haven't seen Treasure Planet, but I've seen images of the flying pirate ship. That would be pretty cool.
A pipe dream, but my favorite Disney movie as a kid was Brave Little Toaster. Would love to see this. I'm pretty sure this was a Disney movie...

Well, Nightmare before Christmas wasn't that famous. At the very least, Disney tried to ignore its existence for a while.

Anyway, I hope they don't have too many worlds. Have a few, and have them BIG and GRAND. That seems to be what they're doing in the portable titles, and this is being made by that team, so yay.		2013-06-12 14:59:00

I get a feeling that for the most part, in KH3 there will mostly be worlds we will of all ready seen with a few new ones. I don't really expect to see many new ones. I don't really expect a Star Wars world, I don't know but to me it just doesn't fit Kingdom Hearts. Would it be cool? Heck yes but even still to me it just would seem out of place. Finally, I really love this series, I spent a lot of time playing it back then, although I never played the portable titles. The reveal gave me goosebumps.
Honestly, I'd still get it if there were worlds related to relatively new Disney titles or something, just not something like Cars or anything like that, but I'm not saying Pixar films wouldn't be interesting. I'm also hoping they don't just cram everything they own into the game either. I have hopes that they won't mess up, but I'm pretty easy to please. I think it'll be good. 		2013-06-12 15:45:00

Yeah, and they also dress up the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland in Nightmare Before Christmas each Halloween... so I guess it isn't that ignored.

Nomura said the game would be made up of both new and familiar worlds. However, some worlds (I won't name) that have already been visited before can definitely not appear again (but you've got to expect the unexpected with Nomura, he could be just throwing us off) because they were plunged into darkness in Birth By Sleep. I haven't played Dream Drop Distance, but I'm pretty sure KH3D worlds can't appear again either. Aren't they kind of "non-canonical"?

As there were more or less about twelve worlds in KH BBS and KH 3D, there'll probably be a dozen of worlds in Kingdom Hearts III as well. If we are to encounter familiar worlds, then they most likely appeared in KH2. They "can't" possibly use worlds whose stories were complete in KH2 unless they make use of sequels. Hopefully they'll leave out direct-to-video sequels like Mulan 2 or The Little Mermaid 2 and rather focus on positively-received sequels instead. Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean 2?

I'm pretty sure there'll also be "Princess" worlds like Tangled, Brave or The Princess and the Frog. These would fit best into Kingdom Hearts' universe. They could make great levels out of Ratatouille and Finding Nemo too! What about Kuzco too? Along with Pocahontas. These are "conventional" Disney movies, so I think they'll fit right in.

A DuckTales world would be great too, wouldn't it? It reminds me of The Three Musketeers, that appeared in KH 3D. It wasn't a very big production, but it appeared anyway. Also, anyone remembers TaleSpin? Such a world would be awesome.		2013-06-12 21:55:00

Furthermore, the worlds in Dream Drop distance were more like memories. For instance, the Pinocchio World was rememebring the events that led up to them being eaten by Monstro in Kingdom Hearts 1. But I dunno if any of those worlds could reappear, aside from Hunchback, but they already did the main story :/

I'm hesitant on worlds with water. It's been forever since I last played KH, but I don't think I liked the Little Mermaid world. It seems like a really cool idea to have an under water level (Finding Nemo), but I don't think they are as fun in practice.		2013-06-12 22:50:00

BBS/3D SPOILERS


Didn't we free the worlds plunged in darkness at the end of Kingdom Hearts 1? So the worlds from BBS wouldn't be a problem. After all, Olympus Colosseum made a return.

Hmm, I didn't think of that! I don't think all of the worlds were freed in KH1, though. Only those Sora visited. The Coliseum appeared even after BBS because it had not been plunged in darkness, but the Castle of Dreams and the Dwarf Woodlands had actually been overrun by darkness in BBS. While Aqua is roaming around in the Realm of Darkness, she runs into Cinderella's castle. If that world had been freed in KH1, Aqua would've been freed as well, if I'm not mistaken.


Also, since the basic plot revolves around the 7 Princesses of Heart, I imagine it will have worlds based on them again.

I'm not sure it actually revolves around them. Going by KH3D, Sora and company are looking for the Seven Guardians of Light, which are not necessarily the seven Princesses. If Xehanort manages to capture the Princesses, he'll have both the 13 Darknesses and the 7 Lights. So, in order to out-think him, Sora will be looking for seven other Lights who will be able to put up a fight against Xehanort's 13 vessels. If I got the KH3D walkthrough right, they're probably Sora, Riku, Mickey, Lea, Aqua and Ventus (and possibly Kairi but she's already a Princess so...)		2013-06-12 23:25:00

No, I'm pretty sure you freed all the worlds at the end of KH1. In fact, this was proven by the summons: Simba and Mushu were summons after their world was overrun by darkness, but they appeared back in the light in KH2. Same with Beast's Castle, as Beast said it was overrun by darkness and he barely managed to escape after Belle was taken. And of course, Sora didn't visit any of them in 1. Sealing the Keyhole merely meant that they couldn't be overrun by darkness, as none of the worlds he visited were overrun by darkness. So all of the worlds overrun by darkness are no longer overrun by darkness. Overrun by darkness

And I think the Princesses of Heart will still make a comeback... They're supposed to be the pure light that remains from the original world, after all.		2013-06-12 23:34:00

It may not sound important, but I really hope the game will be dubbed in several languages, too! The series has always been dubbed in Japanese and English, but only the first two PS2 games were dubbed in other languages. All the dubbings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH2qaabVyJo) were top-notch. The voice actors they chose around the world were excellent.

This is a very important feature to me (as a non-native English speaker) because Japanese role-playing games are never, ever dubbed in European languages when they're released in Europe. From Final Fantasy, to the Tales Of series, along with Star Ocean or Dragon Quest. I'm actually quite happy when they make the Japanese voices available in addition to the English ones. Kingdom Hearts really was the first JRPG I played in my own language.

What I liked most about it was that they hired the original voice actors from every Disney movie. But some of them were released over a decade ago. You might've thought it'd be tricky to keep the original voices, but I guess Disney really pushed Square-Enix into it.		2013-06-14 08:54:00

The French website Jeuxvid?o.com interviewed Tetsuya Nomura at the Japan Expo (you can read the interview in French here (http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2013/00066789-interview-de-tetsuya-nomura-kingdom-hearts.htm)).

So basically, there's nothing really new, but the next to last question is pretty interesting. The journalist asked Nomura whether a new Disney "universe" would appear in Kingdom Hearts III (I'm not sure whether he was talking about new worlds or recently acquired licences like Star Wars), and Nomura answered that most environments will be new, and that he has come up with so many ideas that he has to put some of them aside. He also mentionned the battle system, saying it will be action-based, "much like Kingdom Hearts II", and that some elements will be similar to Kingdom Hearts 3D as well (interactions with the environment, for instance).		2013-07-11 19:31:00

In Kingdom Hearts 3, the heartless and nobody hoarde will become overwhelmingly huge and start devouring all the worlds simultaneously, the armies led by enormous seemingly invincible Heartless and Nobodies. You'll find out that Kingdom Hearts holds the key to destroying all Heartless and Nobodies once and for all. Xehanort continues to interfere with his motives and his army of Xehanorts. You'll go around rallying an army of Disney across the multiverse for the first time in ever, with Mickeys Castle acting as a hub world. You'll never see this army actually do anything. You won't even meet a large portion of them or visit their worlds, but you will get a nice Codex for them. Mmm, exposition-substituting Codex.

At the end of the game, after killing Xehanort in a fourteen phase battle, Sora will enter Kingdom Hearts. Once inside, Sora will come face to face with the heart of all worlds,Kingdom Hearts itself, who takes the form of magical glowing Sora, because Sora. Kingdom Hearts tells Sora that it can't last much longer, because the Heartless swarm will corrupt it and consume it in darkness, dragging down every existing world with it. But if Sora sacrifices his heart to Kingdom Hearts, their combined power will be enough to do one awesome thing, because the power of hearts and stuff. Sora gets three choices.

1.) Destroy Kingdom Hearts. This will not only sever the links between worlds completely, it will also destroy heartless, nobodies, Keyblades, and anything magical. Everything becomes more mundane, but the worlds would be safe from heartless forever, and cut off from each other as they should be. Oh, and uh, all heavily-magical beings like Genie cease to exist. Sora will somehow survive in this ending, waking up on a Bach FFX style with no closure on how or why or what. It's only happens if you got 100% and played multiplayer enough, though, otherwise he just ceases to exist.

2.) Control Kingdom Hearts. This won't stop Kingdom Hearts from becoming corrupt, but it will allow Sora to overpower the Heartless and completely control them all. Soras body ceases to exist, but he becomes magical overlord of the universe pretty much, and use the heartless to destroy the nobody hoarde which can't be controlled since they have no hearts.

3.) Synthesize. 1 Sora + 1 Universe = Happily Ever After. Soras existence is infused into every heart everywhere, and forces them all to be happy carefree goofballs. Even the Heartless, and even the Nobodies, who all gain tiny Sora hearts. That's right. everybody in the universe effectively becomes Sora.		2013-09-16 15:16:00

Anyway, seems like we're going back to Olympus Colosseum. Maybe this time we'll actually go to Olympus, and perhaps fight all four Titans as Hades finally makes his move to take over.

Nomura couldn't specify exactly how far along development Kingdom Hearts III is, but he did note: "I'm currently writing the scenario and selecting worlds. I'm also designing new outfits for Sora and Riku." That kind of gives you a general idea.
