I'll have to take a break on LBP. I need to finish some of these other games from Christmas. I'm also starting to see burn-in on my Plasma from being in create mode for too long. The temperature gauge and the help text mainly. Hopefully MM will patch it. (Come on Sam I'm countin on ya!)

Have fun kids!

Playing it now.
Gotta say, first impressions... "wow"! This looks absolutely amazing! One thing I'm noticing though, at the bottom of the canyon, there's an un-hazardous area near the left you can land at... Might want to throw an extra burning rock there or something.
I'm loving these characters :3 The icecream puzzle was great! Scratch that, all the puzzles are phenomenal.

There are not many levels that have me hoping there will be more Price bubbles, but this one definitely does.

The Pirate ships are epic man, Love that puzzle.
Overall, excellent map! Five stars & Hearted!

Just finished playing your level... and I loved it, really was one of the best levels I've played in a while. Great work! Here's my thoughts on it.

Pros

-Very well detailed.

-All the custom content and how great it looked.

-Plenty of puzzles that were well done and fit well with the level.

-The whole flow of it... actually felt like you were in a fun house most of the time.

-The way you did the puzzle with the ice cream cone was just great.

Cons

-There was a visible emitter right before you use the giant star swing to crash into the milk bottles....I also got killed there for some reason got crushed.

-On the star ferris wheels I got crushed between the third and fourth one I think, may have been the way you wanted it set up... not sure though.

-The last boss... good fight and all but you should make it where you kill him instead of just opening the door.

-Your clowns will give me nightmares especially the one where you climb in his mouth. (listed as a pro too tho lol... wouldnt be this way if they werent so well detailed)

One of my new favorites by far. Everyone should play this level, you won't be disappointed. Hearted you and the level. 5/5 stars.

Ya, I need to figure out how to kill the boss at the end. I was having profile problems when I was finishing it. Looks like we just got an update, so I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the plays gang.

I played this last night and the design is absolutely amazing, especially the characters. There's lots of variety in the platforming and puzzles and the attention to detail is spot on. The only problem i had with this level is the finally boss. I shot and killed him but he didnt die properly and continued to fire projectiles. Anyway its a minor concern in a fabulous level and you thoroughly deserve 5 stars cos i can appreciate the time and effort you must have put into making this. Keep them coming mate.

BTW i played Sack and the Beanstalk too and its equally superb.

I drop on by to dump stuff.....sorry it's all I've got time for. I'm busy being a Dad, Husband, as well as level layout for M.A.G. at work all day....not much time to surf too much on these boards. If your level makes it onto MM picks, LBPC creator spotlight, or IGN's chances are I've played it. I leave comments and feedback for people all the time.....yet I don't do it on boards. I usually do it in the comments section of their level in the game so they'll be sure to see it.

I read the main page prob daily, but my home is probably the IGN boards....LBPC is great, but I don't know if I'd want to just set up shop here. I'm sure it's a great community. Sorry if it feels as though I love and leave ya.

Now you were just baiting me to get me to post more on these boards....now weren't you?

Well no I'm not that desperate for your company But I think I'm correct in saying that LBPC is a give and take community. I can't speak for everyone else, but that's my personal take on things. No hard feelings m8, it just gets increasingly annoying having people drop in, post their level and then leave the site for weeks at a time.2009-01-28 07:13:00

OMG this reeks talent!!
I'm gonna play those levels next time I boot this game (prolly tonight).

From the pics it looks beautiful and you really know how to use stickers!!

EDIT: By the way Neverynal I would personally not be amused if you posted like this in my own thread. I'm sorry to interfere here but your comment really was misplaced and unwarranted.
What the hell does a "give and take" community means? All forums are forums and that's all. Nobody is having obligations. The guy doesn't even do F4F so it's pretty clear he doesn't have to "give" anything to anyone.

Also, this guy here is giving you 2 wonderful levels to play. This alone should be enough for you and should thank him instead of telling him what he should do.

Now i'm sorry if this comes out rude to you but it's not my intention. It's only food for thoughts.

Well not all people have the time to dedicate their life to LBP. Whats your problem? You're super critical of everyone for no freaking reason. Maybe the guy barely has time to make levels, what is he supposed to do? Spend time writing on this message board instead of creating? The whole idea of this community is creating. You must have a very small world-view to not realize some people are very busy.

Comments like yours don't help the community.

Just to throw in a quick, objective, comment that will quench the fire and get back to the game:

I am a father, a husband, and have a job. I totally understand sometimes the lack of time. However, isn't there a middle ground? I totally understand both sides.

However, does it take THAT much time to quickly jump in and leave a little comment on the showcase if you enjoyed a game, as a return favor for the input people take the time to give you? I'll tell you, it made my DAY the last couple days when the top-brass of the authors took the time to play my game and give me feedback.

I'm not sure Neverynnal is asking for a kidney here.... just a tiny bit of reciprocation.

Anyway, I'm going to play this game tonight and comment, regardless of feedback. It looks fantastic. And maybe someday "thekillermiller" will try Splat Invaders Saga (it needs some play love...)

And then the edit appeared!

Your levels look fantastic, and while I think I may have seen Sack and the Beanstalk in the Cool Levels a while back, I never played it. I'll have to check them out in the next couple of days (I have an exam tommorow and should probably be studying today).

Still it cannot really be defended. The guys owns nothing to you all. He already gives you great levels to play and it can be his only concern. I would have agreed to such comments if the guy would have commited to F4F but he didn't so his life and posting habits are all fine no matter what your stand point is and the other guy's post coming from some illusionnary world.

Posting here (or anywhere) isn't a responsability but entertainment. Like it or not.

Okay neverynnal, here is some feedback for one of you levels...well partial feedback.

SEMINAL GEMINI -

Overall love the 2 player concept. (Makes me wish MM had a filtering system in place for 2-4 player levels.) I'll have to attempt to play again at some point because we were unable to finish the level....we hit some lag when attempting to remove the switches from the frozen Sackpeople. When the lag hit we dropped one of the iceblocks and it became wedged upside down in one of the holders. We tried for 10 minutes but couldn't remove it. We uploaded a pick, quite funny actually.

The visuals were kinda a mixed bag for me, the level almost had a tronish feel to it because of the use of the VR neon grid materials....yet there were skulls and metal giving it a goth feeling. I guess I'm more of the mindset of it's all techy or it's goth/dungeon. I'm not saying these styles can't be mixed, but it didn't seem to gel in the level the way it was designed.

First Rotating boss...haven't played around with the projectiles, but if there is any way to add a few cover points around the rotating eye it might make life a bit easier....we died a lot on that part. Really liked how the spikes flew off after you took em out, the first time it killed us and we both laughed.

The leap of faith had us stumped for a minute as well...maybe have that first platform there for a sec and then it disappears. Just to hint to the player that something was there.

I'll give you more feedback when I actually complete the thing. (*posted in his thread as well)

I'm getting that failed to load level from a bunch of folks. What is that all about?

The temperature gauge for the level is maxed, am I running out of memory? Is there some other issue I'm not aware of? It seems like a mixed bag as to who can, and can't load it. Runs fine for me......

I republished last night.....anyone care to load it up and let me know if it runs for them?

Thanks a lot for the review killermiller, but it wasn't neccessary to check out my level as much as I do appreciate it.

@Snowspot: Just because I thought your levels were a complete mass of garbage (yeah I guess I said it) doesn't mean you need come and harp on me for posting my opinion.

@RangerZero: I didn't demand anything out of anyone. The Showcase section has been slowing down as of late because of a lack of people playing other people's levels. I posted my first comment as a way of trying to get a talented creator to participate in the site. Of course I'm happy he's sharing his content with us, and after his Jack and the Beanstalk level got raving reviews I figured he might stick around.

However, in hindsight I wish I PMed you killermiller, rather than posted in this thread. I apologize because this kind of stuff really doesn't have a place in the showcase section.

Just a quick note in case anyone misunderstands (hope you don't mind "thekillermiller", just want to make sure all's cool and everyones happy) - I mentioned that "regardless" I was going to play and give feedback. I understand no one owes anyone else anything - we're all just trying to have fun.

I just want EVERYONE to have fun. It's not a responsibility, but it is a nice thing to make sure some unknown authors get some constructive feedback so they feel welcome and the site flourishes. (If you look, I've kind of been the clean-up guy trying to track down the 0 post "new author" and "non-F4F" threads after everyone's gone to bed.... but I'm getting a little tired...)

It would be a NICE thing if there was some give and take, but certainly not something that is owed. Even if someone like "thekillermiller" has PUT a thread up here it can inspire nicely designed games.

It's a game! Have fun.

(by the way, it would be cool if a moderator "clean-up guy" came in and removed all this goop from this thread. Even though I have been part of the "goop" I wouldn't want this on my thread either.... unless it drew undue attention to my level.).

*********

Now: "thekillermiller" - I'm going to give your level a shot tonight. It looks fantastic. I actually learned a little looking at the drawings you make. Great stuff!

thekillermiller, this level looks absolutely mind-boggling. I played your new level today, and was shocked by the vibrant visuals and the MM quality level design. This level is no doubt among the best user-created levels ever made. Maybe even THE best. Are you an artist? Because the quality of the characters in your levels can only come from an artistic mind. The only complaint I have of your level is the boss. It didn't die or blow up when I defeated it. So for about 10 seconds I kept shooting it, but then I realized the door opened up to the finish.

Other then that, this gets a 5 star rating from me. How can I not give a perfect score to a level that's beyond perfection? You sir, need a job at MM.

I will be anticipating your next creation.

You can't have a funhouse or carnival without a shooting gallery. It was actually the first thing I thought of when they announced the paintinator. That and who was gonna rip off Hogans Alley first.

Very nice looking level, the clown and tongue seemed a bit out of sync at the start though (sometimes the tongue would come out while his mouth was still closed).
Other than that, no complaints. The design was really great.

Not had time to check out your other levels yet, but it's on my to do list!

I've been lurking on these forums for a while, but when I played this awesome level I decided to sign up and recommend it to everyone, however it seems that I have been beaten to it by the author himself. Thekillermiller, keep up the amazing level design, this level could easily have been included in the game, the visuals and overall design are top notch and also feel the level is balanced nicely in terms of difficulty. I look forward to your future releases.2009-02-03 12:27:00

Hi,

to me funhouse is one of the best user created levels in LBP.
Though I always start to swear about the electric balls part.
But that's okay too and gives the spice needed to come back and try again. The ice cream puzzle is great too, the overall variety in look & feel, plus a dose of humour makes this level an outstanding one.

Wow!

This is crazy.

I just found your level on the Cool Levels page 4, I think... (Sack and Beanstalk.)

I saw the Carnival icon at the end that said "Out Now" and I decided to click your name to check out the level. Lo and behold, the same level is at the top of the Level Showcase here at my favorite LBP website.

Well, here's my take on it:

Very fun and very detailed. I really got sucked into the world, much like I did with your Beanstalk level. I haven't read what others have said in this thread but I did see one of the comments on the level where they said it's good enough to be in story mode. I have to agree with that notion 100%. Great job, man.

Some people believe it was a little difficult but I have to say that I love a challenge and the only part I really seemed to have trouble on was the rotating ships area. I loved the part with the rolling balls of electricity where you had to hold on to the ceiling to get past them. Also, I loved the part with the ball swinging down to hit the milk bottles... oh, and the Ice Cream cone puzzle... BRILLIANT!

I'm definitely looking forward to your future creations and I'm sorry to hear you're having some burn-in... also, I'm sorry to hear you have other games you'll be playing but maybe, this time away from LBP will give you inspiration for some even better creations.

5-Star. Hearted.

Take care.

Wow, this is probably THE best looking user-created level made in LBP. Your artistic talent is phenomenal! Are you a professional or something?

The gameplay is also great! It flows well, and it isn't too difficult. This is one of those rare levels where I actually wanted to collect the prize bubbles.

5 stars and hearted, also hearted you as a creator!

Awesome level! I just played it for the first time through. Made it to the milk bottles but couldn't figure out how to break them. Got fried trying to go up the area with the electric balls. To close together maybe or bad timing on my jumping I guess. Loved it all the same. Hearted it to play later. Terrific level. Loved the Sack and the Beanstalk level as well. Mm Picks -

If there?s a theme that rivals my love of Temples, it would be the Circus. So, when I saw the elephants I knew I had to play this. We loved the? ?oh where oh where do I start!? ?the ice cream girl, the tongue crossing, the crazy fire hoop clowns, the colour star puzzle, the elephants, the pirate ships and the boss. An absolutely must MUST play level, and take some friends too.

Thanks MM, LBP is a blast! Now just fix that burn-in issue so I can get started on my next project.

Why's it not getting the numbers?.... let me see... probably because the are a LOT of levels on LBP so it's getting more difficult for people to find great levels. It certainly isn't from lack of quality - this level is stunning and I definately didn't think it was too hard.

(Splat Invaders Saga has been spotlighted here AND it's now on the IGN picks (yay!) and it only has about 500 plays - but then again, I'm not used to HUGE numbers so I'm happy with that).

I'll go back and take a quick run-through again and see if I have any thoughts. The only thing I can think of up front is building an ice cream cone is beyond the general LBP audience...

************************************************** **

Ok, here's my semi-professional self-proclaimed expert thoughts:

I absolutely LOVE this game. It has incredible style, you are obviously VERY good at building unique creations in LBP, and it has enjoyable gameplay.

So why is the play count so darned low????

Well, a few POSSIBLE reasons:

1. There are a LOT of levels on LittleBigPlanet now, and many of them are really good. Your play count is twice the playcount of my most-played level, and 4 times the play amount of my highest-rated level. The fact is - there are a ton of levels out there, and even if yours is absolutely amazing you are still a fish in a bigger pond.
2. Difficulty - there are several places where it would be slightly confusing or challenging for a general non-skilled, young, and A.D.D.-induced player to decide they can't continue. For instance, the wheel where you need to grab the star in the middle - some players would jump around, not experiment, and completely lose it here and feel like they hit a dead end. Others would not realize when you have the electrified-rolling-barrel segments that you could grab above or at least need to study the patterns, so they may die alot. And still others would, at the final boss, just keep jumping out and dying instead of paying attention to how they could defeat the boss. Keep in mind, if you took out all challenge in order to get the maximum plays/highest rated status I would not like the game nearly as much - so it's really me or them.

Now, after all this typing (whew) go play "Splat Invaders Deluxe". You don't need to review it, give it a heart, nor even TELL me you played it. But, I think you should because you may enjoy it and if several thousand people like you play it I will eventually reach your play count.

Chow!

Right on, haven't been on this site in awhile. Glad this got featured in the "cool levels" area. You'll all be happy to know that my next creation is near completion. I got busy with crunch on MAG, so I've had to put my LBP stuff on hold. But I'm gonna bring some heat with this one!!!

Just got to do some more play testing before I throw it out into the world. Hopefully this week though.
