Velocity of a sackbot?

sorry for thu bump, but how does one sense vertical and horizontal velocity of a sackbot?2013-06-06 04:27:00

Hi Kramlat.
You could try this
make it so the sackbot is controlled by the player. (so the player can set how fast he'll move.
Open up the sackbots base chip and widen vertically. Now place about 20 Speed Sensoirs (Set each speed sensor to detect a different increasing speed (EG- speed sensor 1 detects 0.1, speed sensor 2 detects 0.3 etc.).
Wire each speed sensor into its own distinct sound.
As the player moves faster left or right, the speed sensors on his chip detect the speed he's moving at returning different sounds.
If you do this in create mode with the chip open, you can see which speed sensors are activating, so you know he has reached the speed of
that particular speed sensor.

A good way to measure speed is using a Speed Sensor and a Gameplay Sequencer. Set the speed sensor to a value of 100 and wire it into the Gameplay Sequencer. Set the Sequencer to 'Positional' and widen the board to 10 stripes wide. Control the sackbot with a player and make him run and watch where the line on the sequencer reaches (you could make this easier with sounds, lights or something as Sean88 mentioned).

Each stripe on the sequencer will represent 10% of the 100 you set in the speed sensor, i.e. if the sequencer is on the third stripe, the sackbot is moving at 30-40 units (for more explanation of units Comphermc has a nice video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pprtsFtQ8ik))
