| ^ it's probably just due to the fact we've only really had console reveal events and reveals of exsisting cross gen sequels so far, It wouldn't really be productive for sony or microsoft to reveal new ip's at their console reveal event scince there wasn't enough time to give a proper focus to them. for instance, they showed off killzone which everyone already knows how to play. it means there's no need to focus on gameplay and people can easily compare ps4 to ps3 in terms of graphics. There is no official confirmation, but a lot of speculation. The lead designer of Final Fantasy Versus (Also who made Kingdom Hearts) said he wanted to push the limits of the ps3 with that game. Of course, its been two years since we have heard or seen anything regarding that game. The guy from SE said they would be showing a new FInal Fantasy game at E3 and it will be for the next gen. Technically, this cant be Versus, because Versus was already announced and shown. Not that I would mind if it was though. I still think Versus will be a Ps3 title that will hold us over until FF XV is finished. I doubt FF XV is that far into development. | The games in the first half seemed nice enough but I'm disappointed they didn't address the concerns people have raised about privacy, always online and used games. I think the thing that most impressed me was the matchmaking across multiple games at once and how you could switch between games immediately to play with someone. | On Xbone I didn't see or hear about even 1 game I would want. Well... That's a good thing considering I don't want the system anyways. *mew There was MGS x RDR and Dark Souls 2 (with the most inappropriate trailer music for Dark Souls ever) but what else was there? I felt the first half of the MS conference was stronger than the second since there was variety with things like Ryse and Spark. The second half had Battlefield, Halo and Titan Fall, where I started to zone out. ?430, $499 and 499 euros. No thanks. Yeah, way too high like the PS3 was at launch. | There was MGS x RDR and Dark Souls 2 (with the most inappropriate trailer music for Dark Souls ever) but what else was there? I felt the first half of the MS conference was stronger than the second since there was variety with things like Ryse and Spark. The second half had Battlefield, Halo and Titan Fall, where I started to zone out. I don't want any of those games tbh. On one hand, Microsoft's policies with always online and used games and all that is a big turn off (even though to me, personally, it doesn't really matter - but I can see why it would bother some.) But they did have a lot of games to show off, and many of them were exclusives. On the other hand, the price point for the PS4 and their policies (again, not really a problem for me, being online is not a problem in my household.) was a real plus for me. However, the exclusives Sony had were really bad in my opinion. Nothing jaw dropping, and to be honest their conference was sort of blah. More than half of the games they showed us were already shown today so it was a real snore-fest for me.I guess that's the disadvantage of going last in the day but I digress. Also the fact that PS+ is going Xbox Live shall be a big negative to most I'm sure (although it would not be a negative for me since I've always paid a yearly service on the Xbox). To be honest, the only game that really stood out for me and the only game I actually want to get is Destiny, and since it's not really an exclusive, I'm actually not quite interested in either consoles. They are both really lacking in the games department, too many sequels. Not enough new and exciting IPs. | Sony's Conference was alright. (A lot better than Ubi's imo) It was nice to see a little bit more of their original four titles, and the Destiny footage was enticing. (Even though I'm not a big FPS fan) The Final Fantasy XV/Kingdom Hearts 3 reveals shocked me and were fun to watch, even though I've never played either franchise's titles. It was great hearing Sony's little slap in the face to MS, but not fully mentioning things like mandatory PS+ could raise some concern. The new titles like "The Order," "The Dark Sorcerer," and "Mad Max" don't hold any appeal for me, but maybe that could change for one of them. I'm still excited for Infamous 3, although it would've been great to see either MM's new game, Naughty Dog's new game, the rumored LBP3, or for goodness sake, THE LAST GUARDIAN. The showcase of indie partnerships was impressive and I'm pumped for Puppeteer, but like Whalio and fumet said, not a lot of appealing new titles, and some of the footage we got had already been seen. The free game selection is certainly decent, but generally it's stuff that I wanted when it was initially released. By the time it's available free for + I've already played it. So while it is not a rip off I prefer having the choice of not buying it...if the value proposition is great enough they shouldn't have to force it on their customers. If ps+ was only required for online games with dedicated servers as opposed to p2p, that would be perfectly acceptable; I'll even happily sign up to play something like LBP3. Otherwise it's just asking me to pay for something that is currently free and supposedly will continue to be free for PS3 and Vita without adding any additional value... The cloud save backup is a nice ps+ feature...but only because of annoying copy protected game saves; otherwise being able to backup to local usb storage is better. This is my position: When I made my account, I didn't realise the 'age limits' so I was unaware I wouldn't be able to download certain things. I didn't make a new account because I didn't want all my LBP DLC to be lost, and I want that DLC for my Vita too. Now, I miss the good games and a lot of the Vita's features because I am: A) A Sub-Account B) Under-age Keep in mind, if we're paying extra, we want the full benefits of it. I'm going on sixteen, and while it's likely I won't pay for the monthly fee, although I might when I get a job, I aid for my Vita from hard saved money and to have to pay extra for things I won't get is unfair, even if it isn't all too much. Erm, it's $49.99 / ?39.99 for an entire year.  Anyway, I like the service. I don't use it that often, but it gives me the opportunity to try games I otherwise wouldn't get (I never had I PS1, nor do I have enough money to buy every new triple A game). I can definitely understand not wanting it if you don't have any interest in / already have the available games, but calling it a rip off is unfounded. Again, I'm not happy that they're forcing a subscription for multiplayer games but it's something I can live with I guess. Nintendo's "conference" was pretty good. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team looks pretty fun as does Bayonetta and Pikmin 3. Mario Kart 8 also looks great, and that's the first time I said anything good about Mario Kart since the Gamecube version. The 3DS Zelda game doesn't look that great, but who knows. I'm disappointed with Super Mario 3D world as well, it just looks like a step back from Galaxy. Granted, it looks fun but it seems a bit… lacking in some respects? Windwaker also looks beautiful, but I have no interest in it if there aren't a few more dungeons thrown in. I do like the mentality of just being honest and presenting a bunch of upcoming games without all the gratuitous BS. | Don't you always have to be online to play your PS+ games also? I don't care about cheap prices much. As I just want to be able to play my games whenever I want... offline or whatever. *mew I don't know the official answer, but while you're a member of PS+ you'll be going online at least once a month to download the new stuff anyway. I'm not a big online gamer, and I never had any problem with it for the year I had PS+. I did have to re-unlock some of my games on my old PS3 after copying my games/HD to a new PS3 Slim, but that might be a PSN-game thing, not PS+ related. PS+ doesn't add a lot of value for me personally even though I have a PS3 and Vita. The free game selection is certainly decent, but generally it's stuff that I wanted when it was initially released. By the time it's available free for + I've already played it. Same goes for PS1 games...I'm just not interested. if it was any good I played it on the PS1. This is my biggest problem with PS+. I tried it for a year, tried every game, seriously played only 9, all of them cheap PSN-only games, still I do think I got my money's worth. But the side effect was that I waited out the entire year before buying any LBP DLC, just in case it was going to be in a PS+ discount later ( of course there weren't, apart from the ones that lured me into PS+ initially). Call me prudent, or a cheapskate, but I don't like how PS+ affects my purchasing decisions. Though it has some questionably coercive quality, I wouldn't call PS+ a scam at this moment, but making it mandatory would be a scam. Most of my games are offline single player, the sole exception being LBP(K). I may well be forced to pay 50 euros year after year after year just to check out some new levels on LBP3 or Mm's next Play Create Share title. If they really need more money for servers, I'd prefer they made the games more expensive. Or even better, sell online separately as DLC. If Red Dead Redemption had online as DLC with separate trophies, I would have the platinum trophy right now.  Does your account carry over from PS3? An interesting suggestion, however what if you bought 15 games in a year, and each game charged between ?5 and ?10 to go online (which wouldn't be an unreasonable estimate)... that's quite a bit more expensive than getting PS+, without the added benefits. We don't know if there will be a charge for the cloud service... it might be a part of the compulsory ps+ or it might be a case that you can stick in discs and it will stream the game based on an ID... we just don't know. As far as I can tell all accounts will transfer... but I have a feeling that a lot of people will abandon sub accounts made when they were kids (or even those adults who have them) and adopt the less restrictive master ones instead. Personally I think neither are necessary, this is just Sony grabbing some cash knowing the Xbone still looks much worse compared. Getting back to E3, I'm a bit sad to realise the next two Final Fantasy games will feature action combat in stead of turn-based. I'll need to find some other turn-based franchise to carry me over. At least MGS5 hasn't disappointed. Basically, people threw over tables and kept spamming Nintendo to release it in America after an English version for the game had already been created and localized for Europe. Xenoblade was actually one of three big Wii-exclusive JRPGS people wanted to be released in the U.S., in a fan project called "Operation Rainfall." Nintendo eventually released Xenoblade in the U.S., but the problem was that it was a very limited release, and was a Gamestop-exclusive title. Thus, it's pretty rare, and can go for over a hundred bucks on ebay. I was lucky enough to pick up a copy at a very affordable price from Gamestop a little while back, which I guess is pretty rare now. Anywho though, the whole operation was a success, and all three of the Wii JRPGs are available in the U.S. I do hope "X" gets some good marketing later down the line when it's closer to release.
