New Site for New MM game?

Archive: 19 posts

https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=80111-MM-s-Next-Game

So it's confirmed that Mm is working on an "evolution" of the play create share genre. Considering that it most likely isn't LBP, I would think this site isn't the best fit for it.

So, if my hunch is correct and we get a full announcement at E3, I believe this wonderful community should get a head start cultivating the community for this new game. It doesn't have to be Taffey and the current mods in charge, but I think this community should help build the foundations for this new game. If there is a new LBP3, then this site will not fall into disuse. I just think that a new age requires a new start and so on.

So, any thoughts? Am I crazy?

...

Is this idea crazy, as you already know the answer to that question :kz:

If this happened would it be possible to transfer user data? ;-;2013-06-02 21:07:00

Considering it would be an entirely different site, I don't think so

Nor do I think it should :kz:

Then why bother posting in this site's feedback section if it isn't related to this site? =p

We already have a tearaway forum, it would make much more sense to rebrand this site as Mm fan site rather than a specific game and keep the entire community intact. All you would need would be a name change and a re-juggling of the forums, the remaining infrastructure is already in place.

A lot of work has been put into Central, it seems stupid to throw it away when the majority of users here like Mm and are likely to continue supporting them.

Just my opinion.

I'm thinking "Craft Central" as that covers all the games involved =)

Well obviously I posted it here because I want this site to continue being at the forefront of the Play Create Share genre. A rebranding might be a good compromise, though2013-06-02 21:33:00

I <3 THIS IDEA SO MUCH.

Think about it, extra peeps to site... Only downside is like, bare moneys needed to cover costs but more people = more ad money + more donors?

Well just as an alternate point, we've always had a good relationship with Mm here and it would be easier for them to keep in touch with their audience it we were all gathered in one place rather than spread out. I know there are 3 or 4 other popular sites for lbp but that is manageable... if their new game gets 3 or 4 new sites then they have to keep track of more, in addition to those already established, then peoples views will unavoidably be ignored.

That is one of the major reasons I see a rebranding being the better option. It provides a stable platform for both the developer and audience.

If it ever comes to be, I volunteer to help with the design! :hero:

Also, if the domain name changes, lbpcentral.com should redirect to the new one.

I like flamingemucentral.com

NO

rawkcentral.com

...

Anyway.

Reason I initially proposed a new forum was because I felt that having them all on one forum would cause both sides, LBP and New IP alike, to somehow feel less significant. Like, one might be shoved off to the side or given less effort, or this site might lose its identity entirely. I unno, something like that.

Any more thoughts on this? Perhaps by my eternal rival, the Almond King?

I think preserving the excellent community here is more important than preserving the lbp-majority nature of the site. I think people view this site as more than presenting lbp views, and for it to lose members in favour of a newer one would be sad ;-;

I tend to agree... plus you have to pay more for another license of vBulletin and server hosting with an additional site.

No, but this isn't a cheese related site.

You were saying?

Anyway, the established community should come before content... people use this site for a lot more than just LBP already and it would be a shame to divide them.

... Touche, Mr. Dave. Touche.

Anyway, seems like we're leaning more toward converting this forum into a general PCS site. ... I think. Well, guess it'd be Taffey's choice, but remember: PCS is evolving into more than just LBP, so this site should evolve as well.
