A remake of the classic arcade side scrolling space shooter. http://lbp.me/p/qe8e-v8 http://lbp.me/v/ke1pxp | 2013-06-01 16:21:00 Author: steakmo Posts: 57 |
I enjoyed the heck out of this one. The fact that it even looks like the original, right down to that groundbreaking (for the early '80s) parallax scrolling. It can be easy to have the rest of the buggies killed off on their way in some times, but that's just a minor issue in a great remake. The recreated pixelart in this level looks beautiful! | 2013-06-02 02:47:00 Author: PrimeOp Posts: 5 |
ADD RESPAWN PROTECTION!!!! Otherwise looks great but couldn't enjoy it cause I would die and die while respawing, which frustrated me a bit. | 2013-06-06 22:17:00 Author: L-I-M-I Posts: 611 |
I agree with biorogue, but nevertheless it's a nice level | 2013-06-06 22:37:00 Author: avundcv Posts: 2526 |
Gah! I can't believe I missed the release of this level.... I LOVE moon patrol - I had thought of doing one for LBP2, but just haven't had the time or the energy. Will be playing when I get home. | 2013-06-10 17:42:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Ok, so I played it (I'm still in the top 10... but I'm dropping steadily . This brought back memories. Moon Patrol was one of my early favorites. I used to play it quite a bit on my Atari 800 back in the early to mid 80's (so.... I'm not a little kid obviously, although I act like one). As a personal taste, I LOVED the retro graphics. I know some don't appreciate that in LBP it's actually easier to do more realistic, and retro is painstaking. You pulled off the retro look nicely, however. I agree that the respawning probably needs to be addressed. Either a simple grace period after emitting or "safe zone" logic would be nice (such as making sure there is no danger within a specific area before respawning). Another thing I was curious about - sometimes when it APPEARS you hit an enemy, they aren't destroyed. I'm not sure if this is because of the hit detection or the 3D planes give the illusion that you hit when you really missed. If it's the 3D planes, maybe flattening out the camera would help... but, of course, that could make the really cool 3D background also not appear 3D. However, nothing seemed to detract from me having a fantastic time. There's just something about needing to combine shooting up, shooting right, and jumping all at the same time. It's a beautiful feeling! | 2013-06-19 13:33:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
