Wolf Fury Series (7 Levels)

Archive: 11 posts

Hey Sack peoples! It has been quite some time since my last post or even last level. But! I've spent that extended amount of time making my new series Wolf Fury! It is a series consisting of SEVEN levels (an intro, three main levels, an ending scene, and two unlockable mini games).

This series takes place in a world where a goddess type being, The Mother Wolf, is the deity that is prayed to. But that doesn't mean that there isn't evil; Vox, the big bad guy of the series is the main enemy.

The intro and ending scene are made in a comic type format, part 1 is side-scrolling, part 2 is platforming, and part 3 is top down. as for the mini games, you'll have to unlock them and play to find out!

It's actually not that long. Altogether the levels (which are like mini levels) add up to about one level of gameplay if you race through them. I just like to implement many different types of gameplay. But thanks for giving it a try!2013-05-30 20:21:00

I was enjoying your series but I got stuck in the boss section of Part 3. I had no idea how to beat him. I know there were some controls instructions printed on the floor at the start of part 3 and one was about a power blast but the text was so small I honestly couldn't read what the controls were for that. I assume that was the way to destroy the boss but I may be wrong. If you could give me a clue, I'll happily have another go. 2013-06-01 02:11:00

Oh! thank you for the constructed feed back! Yes, the power blasts (obtained by destroying 3 crystals, aiming, and pressing triangle) are how you defeat him. I use a fairly large TV so i don't quite think about the sizing on other tv's. But thank you for the input and for trying out my series!2013-06-07 00:10:00

I had tried playing this last week but when I tried to go to level 2, it just would never load. I backed out, tried to go back your planet, but then it wouldn't even load the planet. I tried other's levels and they worked just fine so I put it aside for a bit. Happy to report that your planet loaded now, woo hoo! Loaded into part 2, loving the series by the way, great design and art style and gameplay too. I was making my way upwards and somehow goofed up and fell way down and didn't want to have to make that climb again and so I "popped" myself. Bad mistake. I went back to the checkpoint, well under it somewhere, but my character did not reappear. bummer. I had to restart the level. I'd make it so that you can't open the popit. Anyway, loving it so far. Tremendous work here.

EDIT: Just finished it. Loved part 2, loathed part 3. I just don't like the top down stuff and I couldn't get over the dang lava for nothing. Looked good though. The end was kind of abrupt though, I kept wanting more. Excellent work on this though, really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the input!
The reason you can't pop yourself is because your in a housing controlinator that controls all player sackbots wirelessly (and all the checkpoints actually arent even checkpoints).
Yeah, the lava is kind of annoying i agree but i dont want it to be super easy. And I like to do various types of gameplay which is why i made a top down version as well. I actually am not a fan of side scrolling!
Either way, thank you again for the input and trial! Theyre both greatly appreciated

The only suggestion does happen to be with part 3. My suggestion would be to allow a zoom in of the controls as well as outline to the player that in order to use the special ability u must collect 3 orbs. WHat I believe is casusing confusion is that in a normal game setting a dot or any marker usually indicates a special attack is ready. in this case each dot represents 1/3. So make sure you outline that in a better way. i.e. get away from the dots and move to a pie chart underneath. such as each dot u pick up fills one-third of the pie and when 3/3 are collected then the gold indicator swirly things show and maybe the character glows or the pie or dots start blinking something that says HEY YOU PLAYER YOU HAVE A SPECIAL ABILITY THAT CAN NOW BE ACTIVATED!!!!.. ALSO, tell the player at the boss battle, say a magic mouth from the wolf god thingy to use your special ability on the boss.

SO STEP 1: enter level
STEP 2: show controls
STEP 3: Have an arrow pointing to a crystal and message simply stating destroy crystals to obtain special boost.
STEP 4: message saying collect 3 special boost to activate special move
STEP 5: In order to advance from area player must use special ability at least once, say blow up some dang rock wall or anything that is blocking the path.

STEP ^: hopefully player now knows with out a doubt how to obtain and use special. I love interactive tutorials. Incorporate tutorial into the gameplay

ALSO , the orbs didn't respawn after u destroyed the crystals X amount of times. it would give you credit for the orbs, but they were not emitting.

I love the style you used
I had some issues, similar to them, which have been described by shropsireless, L-I-M-I and biorogue.
Nevertheless this is a really great story and a very nice level series.

Very good job!
