We've got some awesome new stuff for you guys.

First off, AME.
Automatic Media Embedder does exactly what it says: It embeds media (including youtube links) automatically. There's no BBCode needed; just paste the link in, and the addon will handle it automatically. Here's an example:

Live Topics

Live Topics is an addon that makes threads live. Imagine quick reply, but being able to see instantly when someone posts a new reply without having to reload the page. If a topic goes for a week without any replies, it is no longer considered "live", and it will stop working as such. This will be useful for popular topics, news, etc as you can see when someone replies without needing to navigate back to the thread. Hopefully this works well; I'd hate for it to have issues. We'll find out.
Dismiss Notices
You now have the option to dismiss notices easily. It will display indefinitely until you dismiss it. Once you do so, it will never display again. You can dismiss individual notices if multiple notices are displaying, as well.
Mobile Theme Updates
Use of the mobile theme is now an option. You may change back and forth between mobile and the site theme at any time.
Registration Form AJAX Enhancements

The registration form will provide live feedback based on username/password/email address availability, password matching, and even password strength. It'll also suggest passwords upon request.

As Live Topic seems to be a great feature, we've upped the limit from 20 minutes to a week. After that, it won't be live anymore (this makes sure almost every thread is live). Also, if you have not scrolled, clicked, typed, etc in your browser in 10 minutes while viewing a live thread, it will stop updating the page for you.2009-01-25 22:04:00

What a jump!
Well, it reduces server load (instead of loading the whole page, it just loads the new content) and it hasn't shown any problems yet, so we figured we'd enable it for nearly the whole forum.

looks good, 2 points though:

1. I dont know if its the new update or something else, but only Youtube links seem to have been removed? They're all showing in the BBS code version

EDIT: heres an example of what I mean:

https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7808

2.
Also, if you have not scrolled, clicked, typed, etc in your browser in 10 minutes while viewing a live thread, it will stop updating the page for you. Does it resume if you resume whatever you were doing? (I suppose I could just test it, but I'm very lazy)

Otherwise great update!

Yes, it would seem that, by removing the old youtube system, all old youtube videos have hence been destroyed as well... Same as when we changed smilies- it doesn't change old posts.

Is it possible to have both the old AND the new video player? Or will old videos be gone unless we change them? :/

The new notice system is fantabulous. I was hoping you'd come around eventually and get rid of the force reads. You've come a long way as an admin. 2009-01-26 12:50:00

Love the live update thing! Just happened before I read this and I was like wtf

Reckon a "my profile" function would be nice to, where you can see a collection of your threads (ignore me if it already exists)

That's for the new Contests section. You guys can start a new contest on your own, without the need to ask the staff. If a user would like to give away xp for a contest, they will have to purchase that item. After that, I will get in touch with that user and determine how much xp will be handed out along with other details.

It's difficult to balance change with familiarity, but we're doing our best. Stay tuned.

So you have to go into your own wallet to give XP as a prize for a contest. Not very appealing Cartman...

:/
Each little contest prize, caption contest winner, etc must be entered into a database manually by an admin. Now, if I let everyone and their mother make contests and offer any amount of xp they wanted, I'd be spending a good chunk of my time handing out xp for contests, even if I didn't pre-agree to the amount being handed out. This is an easy (and fairly cheap, to be honest) way to start your own contest and offer xp that you might not actually have in your own virtual wallet.

No, I'm saying if you're looking to offer xp for your contest, and your contest is not going to be official, then you have to purchase the item in the shop.

If it's in the "Site Contests" forum, then it's considered official. If it's in "Contests", it's not considered official. Those are for LittleBigPlanet-related contests only. Yours is in "Artwork and Creativity", which is a different ball-game. I've already pre-agreed to provide xp for that contest, so I will be happy to follow through. Just send me the name of the winner.

Users are free to talk to the staff about making official contests. Not every contest we have was created by the staff.

That being said, we don't approve every idea. The idea behind the gift XP idea is that you can make any contest you like and then offer an actual reward to the winners to get them motivated. Kratos4 and aer0blue already have examples of them. Kratos' one is a paint scheme for his tank, a personal request, and aer0blue's is a boss collection idea he has had. He's doing all the work behind that contest, so it's his contest rather than an official site one.

You could have, for example, a contest to design a new signature for yourself if you are not that good at it. That's just one idea of many.

Giving away XP is also a nice way to be kind to others, and that's a good thing as well.
