I cant play my level with other people

Archive: 8 posts

I'm making a level with my friend and whenever we try to test with other people there is a huge loading screen and everyone gets disconnected. Most of the level is in emitters, the thermo is only like 15% and there is no logic going on at the start. What can we do?2013-05-29 14:12:00

Hi Dragonboy269.
Thats unusaual alright. Make a co;py of your level, labelling it with test on a blank moomn slot.
Then try deleting various parts or....delete place a new start gate at a different position and delete the old.. check nothing is accidently being emmited over the start gate. then test it. Check your settings in the options for internet settings or locked levels etc.
It sounds like it may be a bandwith problem with your internet connection, sorry to say.

Swithh off lbp2. Go to the internet options of your playstation 3's XMB.
Check your internet settings to see if your NAT connection type is 1, 2, or 3 and see what your upload/ download speeds are.
3 is wireless connection meaning your internet speed is reduced....depending on your broadband memory. If your using wireless broadband, try connecting your router directly to your playstation by a cable. This may be why people are getting disconnected
.
Hope it helps my friend.

Are you having them join you on your moon or is it published? Sometimes a published level won't time out as quickly as attempting loading from a moon.

Back in the day, we would all remove all our costumes to try and get in a stubborn level on someone's moon. ..worth a try.

Trust me, it's not a connection problem. The level is actually very long and detailed so to prevent overheating and lag I emit only the parts that are needed and destroy them when finished. So at the start there is only a simple room with a button that emits a movie which emits the first section which emits the second etc. but its annoying to get disconnected all the time before the level even loads..
There's sackbots, acting, water, moving obstacles, etc but because none of it's in the level at the same time i thought 4 players could play too

Wow... that is awful to hear. ..but still upon load all those emitters do have those objects and room sections. That is why I was wondering if it was on your moon or not.2013-05-29 22:49:00

If I understand you right, you use the emitting/destroying strategy to rise (theoretically) the thermo space.
That's fine. I often use this for my levels and it works well to a maximum of aprox triple to quadrupel thermo space.
Yes, even if you destroy each scenery carefully before emitting the nex one, the thermo can't tricked to infinite space.
To find out how many theoretically thermo space you use, you can go this way: open a moon slot and put in the sceneries you emit. When thermo is full, open the next moon slot and put in the next sceneries and so on. After three fully moon slots the amount of to emitting material reaches a critical mass.
Up to three thermos everything will work well, with the fourth thermo it sometimes work or don't.

An example:
In this level everything will be emitted and destroyed.
This level has a little bit more than theoretically triple thermo space and works excellent with three players and laggs sometimes with four players. It reaches the critical mass. Two or three stickers more and it would run only in one player mode.

I hope this helps
