-Top Down Shooter with Campaign and Multiplayer-

I haven't played LBPV in a while, but I recently got back into it and started working on a level. There are no screenshots though, because everything is just made of plain boring cardboard at the moment, I've been working on the logic and mechanics so far.

You play as a soldier equipped with a rifle, a burst rifle and a pistol. You can switch between weapons, reload them independently, etc. Your player also has a health system made with a feedback loop system.

Enemies are quite smart- they will use cover, occasionally pop out of cover and take a shot, and occasionally move forwards to the next bit of cover. There are also some more advanced enemies, similar to that of the 'Constructors' in Borderlands 2. They can create more enemies, shoot, and deploy missiles.

There is more variation in the gameplay than just shoot enemies and progress. You have to protect objectives, call in Close Air Support, and more.

I also managed to make (but I'm not sure if I'll incorporate it) a lockbox which generates a random number, displays it on one screen, hidden from the player, and then the player will have to enter the code into the lockbox in order to open it. Depending on how you implement this, you could make it so that there is a puzzle to solve which results in a code being obtained, or maybe the numbers are hidden across the map, and you have to find and remember them. LIke I said, I'm not sure how I'll implement it, but I want to. I might even make a tutorial on making a random code generating lockbox, unless there is already one.

There will also be a tutorial mode where the player is introduced to the controls.

There will also be a multiplayer mode where you can battle it out with friends (and possibly bots) over objectives. I haven't actually created anything for the multiplayer mode yet, but I plan to.

Whoah, that sounds amazing! A lot of top down shooters have gone unnoticed because theres so many of them, but if you can pull off a campaign and multiplayer, you should get tons of plays.2013-05-29 12:55:00

I like the non-deathmatch multiplayer idea. I'm also pretty excited to see the campaign since that it where i enjoy most of shooter levels uniqueness. I'll be sure to play it when a playable version is published 2013-06-04 07:13:00
