The features are a given, but I don't think they will happen with fw 3.0, but by fw 3.0. We're still a while away till 3.0 though, we're only at 2.60

I doubt that will happen unless it's something from the actual game. It takes way too much processing power to do that while running the game. That's why you can't access the internet from the ingame xmb.

Updates are numbered according to feature list, major updates will always be given whole numbers. A conclusive social package, or the legendary software BC would warrant the big 3.0.

I think it goes without saying that those features will most likely be included at some point. That said, it's been rumored to be included since before 2.0 came around. And, if it's not included by the time 3.0 comes and goes then it'll most likely be rumored for 4.0 and so on.

I'm still looking for developers to start taking advantage of the option to allow custom soundtracks. In other words, I'm still waiting for 2.40 to pay off.

Actually, 2.0 was very anti-climatic and meh. Remote play was the biggest thing to come out as was account management, which aren't all that major in themselves.

2.40 was the biggest one. In-game XMB, custom soundtrack support, trophies, clock, and then youtube support and photo capture were stealth updated in there (though not used) as well.

Though 3.0 will be reserved for November, and it might be something big, but who knows at this point.

This would be great! I would greatly enjoy this stuff that way anyone that tries to say that 360 is better, and i convince them otherwise then they can no longer fall on the fact that the online is better

Cheers!

Sadly Rainfire, you still won't be able to say the online is better. There's no lag like PS3 lag. Also sadly, until I see it written on a reputable source, I'd say it isn't coming for a fair while.2009-01-26 07:29:00

Really? Lag? I haven't had any lag when I play online with the PS3, especially games like Resistance 2 and Motorstorm : PR. I've had a bit of lag on LBP, but that was when it first came out, and servers were pretty unstable.

On to the topic, I really do hope this comes early. I still don't understand how the PS3 can't have something like this, when the 360 does.

@ Whale : Sony said somewhere that they lead their own lives, they don't follow Microsoft.
although I still wonder where they got the idea of trophies....

I don't understand this obssession about voice chat WHILE PLAYING THE GAME.

I mean, you REALLY need this? Is it me getting old and not following youngster mentality here? Why do need to talk this much? what's the use?

Just taking me as anecdotal evidence:

-If i'm playing a single player game I want to be immersed as much as possible so this means no chatter. Same as with movies in fact.

-If there really is something I need to say to someone, I have thousands of ways to do it. Phone/Cellphone, MSN, simple talking if the person is around, and the PSN messaging.

If you really really like to talk to someone while playing, why don't you play together since you're at it?

Anyways, this fall into what i'd call "extreme communicationism". A phenomenon I might be the only one seeing lately? People are over-communicating between themselves and that brings them no good. Absolutely no good. It makes them lose their time and also might prevent them to be able to be alone and enjoying it. Letting the stress cool down "for real". They might forget that it's important to be with ourselve (se recueillir in French) to meditate.

It's just like when I hear people on the bus making a phone call all stressed up like it was important or something. Then they go "hey buddy, i'm on the bus and reaching the stop near your house. I'm going to be there soon ok?".
The person in question doesn't have a doorbell? This phone call is totally useless.

At some point we will have to warn that we are warning about the warning for that we are going to ring at the doorbell?

...

*feels better now*

Just play games please. If they add voice chat it's all cool and stuff but hey, is it really important? common...
