Lbp.me (http://lbp.me/v/5mt7hg) Lbpcentral thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=82962-The-Curse-of-Hatred-ACT-I-(Top-Down-RPG)-1P) Trivia This project was first started back in 2011 but multiples complications in my life made it hard for me to keep working on it. I'm now confident about this project and motivated more than ever. My creating speed also boosted lately because of my confidence (I used to be insecure with the level and kept changing everything = time wasting). Expect these series to be released soon, cya ! Storyline You can read the story through Norman Hawklight's journal. An old man who saved the World before from the demons with his brother. He began writing his journal the day an Archangel came to their village. That day marks the start of a fascinating and frightening adventure. In his journal, he writes all his thoughts from that day to this present day (he will also write you're adventure ). The journal contains illustrations and texts, you can listen to it by clicking the play button. You must turn the pages yourself. Page 1: Someone who calls himself an Archangel has brought grave news. Apparently, a Prime Evil from Hell called Azzanadra has found out about Kilagore, the World of men. He is planning to take complete control of our lands and angelic forces of the High Heavens cannot interfere as they lose their power outside their realm. However, if a angel binds himself with a human it might result something really incredible and powerful. He later mentioned that the last time they tried it, the human couldn't handle it and died. Page 2: There's rumors that the town of Delfoy were attacked and burned to its foundations by demons. Maybe the archangel was right? The signs all point to this but how is someone with my education, my knowledge, to take this nonsense seriously? Is there really such thing as demons that sought to corrupt mankind? My brother seems to believe in this fairytale that used to be told by my mother. Page 3: My brother volunteer to bind his mind, body and spirit with the archangel in this way giving him great power that could save the World of Kilagore. The archangel can't guarantee he will succeed, only exceptional human can handle such power. If he binding is unsuccessful, I may lose my brother forever. I know too little of this but I pray he's making the right choice. Page 4: I'm glad everything worked out well, I wonder if my brother is still the same as before though. From that moment, we travel together in the quest to triumph over the dark forces now rising across Kilagore, hopefully I'll be of any help. We are too late, as we reach the town of Delfoy, everything was already destroyed. None of the townspeople were spared, and not even the women or children were allowed peace of the grave. Instead, all were reanimated in demonic undead. My brother was able to remain calm, he was so courageous compared to me. I dreamt of the torture the children were confronted to. Enable to fall asleep, I decided to stay awake and keep an eye tonight. Page 5: We were confronted to Moshrak, The Devil of Anguish. I'm greatly relieved that we survived and defeated one of the Great Evil. Now that this event is now in our past, we travel East in route to Kinwskel. My brother seems to know the way. As the days past, the Archangel told us about himself. That he is one important figure in Heaven, the symbol of hope. We travel during an eternity and fought many demons, injuries were inevitable but yet they didn't stop us. During the night we camp again however, the dreams return. Time, perhaps, is the only thing that may heal me. Page 6: From the mountain view we could see the town of Kinwskel and the great sea beyond. As we continue to walk to reach our destination we noticed a demonic army marching toward Amarance, this is Azzanadra's doing no doubt. Kinwskel was completely annihilated, only few families and guards managed to hide from the destruction these zombified beasts brought upon their lands. Tomorrow we will depart to the North, this time we must not be too late. Page 7: The Archangel informed us about Azzanadra's power but my brother's strength and dedication never ceased to amaze me. We are now braving the demons to find Azzanadra and put an end to this madness. We finely arrive to Amarance, the demons had taken complete control of the kingdom. Azzanadra was attending our visit and we feld into his trap and imprisoned with the other villagers. They later then found out of the archangel presence and my brother was taken away. Page 8: I tried speak with the imprisoned villagers, some couldn't handle this torture and died. I was starting to lose my mind as well. Although I had given up hope and surrendered to my inevitable fate, the impossible happened today. Me and the other villagers were rescued by my brother himself. We went deep into the palace until we found Azzanadra realm. I had no idea of the horror in store for me there. Page 9: Azzanadra, The Lord of Hatred is dead. I didn't realize it back then but we finely killed the Prime Evil. I have long desired this moment I thought would never come. Today, I have seen the man who I'm proud to call brother save us from the destruction the demonic beasts from hell brought upon Kilagore. Page 10: I have never seen Hearthalia bursting in such joy since Azzanadra's defeat, my brother became the Savior of this world. He later then traveled and established peace and prosperity throughout towns to towns. Even though I am getting a lot of attention, I believe my brother is the real hero. I haven't told anyone but, Azzanadra's terror has left it's mark upon me as well. I wake up in the night, suffering visions of the destruction and the slaughter of the helpless villagers. I hope that these will pass in time, but I fear that I will never escape them. Page 1: It's been two decades since I haven't wrote my thoughts but today events has driven me to write again. My brother closed his eyes for the last time this night. With his passing, one of humanity guiding light was extinguish. In his deathbed, I heard he decided to entrust his dream and legacy to his younger child called Leonard thus, He was next king of Hearthalia. I fear this decision may scar the World in ways I cannot know. Page 2: We all helped build a memorable tomb for my brother, all except his elder son. I haven't seen him since the sage decision, I hope he's doing well. There's rumors that the older brother, angry and jealous that his father had not chosen him, challenged his younger brother into a duel to death. That must not be allowed to happen. Page 3: Leonard defeated his older brother however, refused to kill him. I feel little joy however, something was going wrong the older brother. His hatred toward his younger brother kept growing and growing, there must be something I can do to help. I've spoke with my younger nephew but neither him have an answer. Page 4: Someone stole a book I found in Azzanadra's realm. I only kept it as trophy of victory since it had nothing written on it. My adopted daughter blame my older nephew because she caught him spying on us during the night. I wonder why he wanted such thing, what does he seeks? As I sit down and try to understand, things were getting worst. Page 5: I began to see a change a into my older nephew, he seems to be gaining strength. His appearance changed gradually as he continued to sink deeper into darkness. It was then I realized my nephew wasn't gaining strength, he had been losing what was left of his humanity. Sooner or later, something bad was going to happen. Page 6: His hatred overwhelm him as he ruthlessly kill a guard, He then slipped away during the night. One year after he left us, chaos was already growing all over Kilagore. Villages all after another were getting invaded and a second war is declared between the mortal and hell. Page 7: I keep asking myself how such thing could happen, how come the demons are back? Hopefully, my latest studies will give me an answer. I will not allow my brother's sacrifice be wasted! From that point, you and your uncle are going to fight against the dark forces and your brother who turned evil. Gameplay/Design Inspiration The theme of the level is mainly inspired of the Diablo series. I always told myself that 3 layers were really not enough to give the series the nice environment and visual it needed. In conclusion, I used the layer glitch a lot. Well, most people already do that anyway, what's new? Well, I went a bit further with the 3D layer glitch. I decided to use it at it's full extent when it comes to top-down. Houses, cathedral, caverns most likely all have more than simply 3 playable layers. You can find stairs, ropes, anything that could possibly make you climb to the next level and comeback down. Not only that, for example with a house, you can see the second floor when you are outside. This immediately tells you that you can adventure yourself in floor 2. Outside - Outside means when you don't have any extra layers on top of your head. You can be in a house, second floor and yet still see the third floor if you are like in a balcony or something. Inside (Floor 1) - Every layers except for the base ones disappear as soon as you go inside the first floor unless they aren't above you. Upstairs (Floor 2 - x) - Same logic applies here, you won't see the third floor if there's one unless it's not above you. You can see floor 1 depending on your environment. It's followed by a dark ambient music I myself made using sounds available in LBP. Currently, there's only 4 options: Norman's Journal, Acts, Credits and How to play. I don't plan on implementing any others for the moment. Every sections will be controlled with a cursor except for the main one. Characters Leonard The Sage The Sage is the brother of Norman Hawklight. He is the first human to successfully bind himself with a angel. He was gifted with a really huge amount of life force and could resist to such stress. The result will later save the World from the darkness. Despite his old age, he chose his younger son to be his successor and eventually died. Norman Hawklight Norman is a brave warrior mage who fought against the demonic forces of Hell with his brother. He is one of the most important character in the series despite his immense knowledge he accumulated through his lifetime. He will do what he can to fight against evil by sharing those with you. He will follow you through your journey and assist you when ever you need help. Lisa Lisa is Norma hawklight's adopted daughter. I'm not sure if she will follow you in your journey. I haven't chosen this character's fate yet Voice Acting (Recruiting) Norman Hawklight Considering the amount of text, this is a really demanding job but I'm sure you'll find pleasure in doing it considering the amount of effort that went into that journal alone. This include his voice in-game but there isn't much dialogue so you really shouldn't worry about it. Criteria:* - Must be a man voice - Old man voice preferred (yet not require) - Really clean voice, an option will give the possibility to turn subtitles off so one must understand you without subtitles. ... I know it's been 2 weeks already but I've been really busy lately. I worked really hard on the Main Menu and Act 1 is almost fully playable. I really want to finish something before posting pictures. I'll will most likely update the thread in 2 to 4 days with loads of information. Sorry :blush:

Thanks guys ! Still working on the characters (quest). I'm not slow at creating it's just that I had visit from family and been hanging around with friends a lot. Working on the characters and making the main quest work is actually something really fun (compared to emitting the environment which gets annoying) so it's quite an enjoyable part and it should be easier to create in ''intense mode'' since I don't get bored of it.

I'm still working on the Quests, I will upload a picture of the Quest log, World Map and Item bag which will be all in the same screen in the following days. I'm hoping on releasing a Beta in 1 week. Hardest part is probably trying to control the thermo, it require a lot more work and precaution.

Hey everyone, I'm currently moving out and I can't even find my ps3 anymore ??! Naa joking but I will probably not touch it in the following days. The thermo is still going wild, getting frustrating to deal with it but I shall win my eternal battle. Just got a new lbp2, m'y original one broke when we moved out. Been playing for a week now and I'm sure act 1 will be releashed within the next 8 days. There wont be any Beta since I'm not sure I'll get any testers and the series seems bug-free. Thanks !
