1 use pickups

Archive: 6 posts

Here's a quick pickup tutorial some may find handy.

To have a pickup (creatinator, scuba gear, grabinator etc) that you can only collect once.

Pause the create mode and place a microchip on the base of the pickup (say we use grabinator for the example)

On this chip, place a player sensor sensor, wired to a destroyer.
Set the destroyer's destroy effect to dissappear.
Set the player sensor to 8.0. (you may need to adjust this slightly), and set it to detect single player.
Thats it.

- HOW IT WORKS-
Basically, as you walk into the grabinator, you pick it up...However, as you do so, you activate the player sensor/destroyer, destroying the grabinator pickup.
Your left with the grabinator equipped.
So...you can only collect it once.

NOTE:- For best results, try to position the microchip as close to the centre of pickup as you can (so its in line with sackboy. You may need to adjust the player sensors radius slightly so the player can pickup the pickup before it disappears.

@ Conanultimate...
Well my friend, you could use bothn ways (an Impact Sensor instead of a Player Sensor), but I find a player sensor is more effective sometimes with an Impact Sensor, the pickup dissappears instantly and doesn'tgive enough time to actually equip the ability.

Why not use a player impact sensor?

You could jump over the base, collect the pickup but not trigger the sensor. Ideally you would use invisible material with an impact sensor and a delay via timer.
