Free content for creators

A mate of mine was telling me that if you are a successful youtuber then you get a pay out from youtube, this is obviously fair because without the 'youtubers' there would be no youtube, or high quality content. So then I started to think, hey! Why not for LBP. In lieu of money could be free DLC. Now I'm not in this league of creators, because I have only just made a level after owning the game for... Since it came out. I was hardcore LBP1 though! This is a fun idea which could also have a dark side (definatly a dark side) One is obsessive creators, or over competitive and walk on the other guy mentality. But I do think that the guys constantly getting MM picked shouldn't have to make their cake, pay for it and give it away to. Sony win when you buy the game, they win when you buy DLC, they win when you keep the game alive and they win when your PS3 breaks and you quickly buy the new slim so you can keep on doing what you do <<, | 2013-05-20 07:52:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
I would say no. Having several MM picks and getting thousands of plays as a result is enough reward for their work. There are plenty of creators out there who produce amazing levels, that are FAR better than some of those created by a few of the constantly MM picked creators. So giving some creators free DLC would be unfair in my view. | 2013-05-20 10:53:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
Yes I do agree with that. I also believe that if someone helps you make your garden better, you should atleast make them a cuppa coffee, or offer. People get upset when they are not aknowledged, I have been one of them, I also got butthurt, though now believe I was just being petty. | 2013-05-20 21:47:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
I thought popular 'youtubers' made their money of advertising, something websites thrive from. It would be understandable that popular 'youtubers' earn more than less popular ones due to the volume of people watching their videos. | 2013-05-20 22:30:00 Author: Spaceraoul28 Posts: 175 |

Look up youtube partners, basically it's a program to encourage anyone and everyone to build their skills, and get PAID! One thing you may notice though is constant uploads from these youtubers, sometimes it makes you wanna unsub. So I am not saying this a good idea I had, more a thought I wanted to share. Though I think it may only result in a lot of cellphone like mini games, which I have no interest in playing. | 2013-05-20 23:08:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
I think that this would be pretty awesome! Sony would never go for it in a million years because i doubt any company likes giving away free stuff (lol)! Really cool idea though! | 2013-05-21 01:11:00 Author: dolphins-r-lame Posts: 281 |
So you do know that Mm, Tarsier and Sumo Digital have offered jobs to their considered best of the best... right? Can't think of anything more rewarding than that. Especially for simply excelling at a video game. The truth is that these developers already give far more to their community than they need to... a dedication that should be praised rather than exploited through free DLC wishes. | 2013-05-21 03:33:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
I think that this would be pretty awesome! Sony would never go for it in a million years because i doubt any company likes giving away free stuff (lol)! Really cool idea though! being a ps plus member I noticed that a lot of the time when they are giving away content or games, the sequels to those games are just around the corner, or there's plenty of dlc material to indulge in, if the gamer finds those games appealing they do indulge either in dlc or sequels, I know I have. Free dlc/reward could encourage a creation boom, to the point where the game could be prolonged, taken more seriously and super expanded, so that every level type could be produced with proper management. Like categories, minigame, RPG, platformer etc. At the moment im not seeing that. | 2013-05-21 04:36:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
The thing is, some popular youtubers would have to fork out a lot of money to produce their vids, so it would make sense to offer them some reward. It doesn't cost a lot of money to buy lbp DLC, plus there's already a decent chance that the creator has already bought most if not all the major DLC. | 2013-05-21 10:22:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
I think we should give rewards for active create time. Like, exclusive packs unlocked at 50,000 minutes creating, or money. | 2013-05-21 14:09:00 Author: Kalawishis Posts: 928 |
I think we should give rewards for active create time. Like, exclusive packs unlocked at 50,000 minutes creating, or money. Nah. Some folk don't actually create during create time, they just prat about. | 2013-05-21 16:25:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
Nah. Some folk don't actually create during create time, they just prat about. Haha that is very true, what about... Extra level slots as a reward to legit creators. Or newest level category for high hearted creators. | 2013-05-21 20:04:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
Didn't that already happen with the crown? Btw, is the crown still a thing? Haven't really caught up on LBP recently except for the Bioshock Infinite costume pack. | 2013-05-31 05:25:00 Author: TheUltraDeino Posts: 1274 |
