Hey guys, I'm just promoting my newest level "The Rocket Jumper", which was inspired by this:

I tried replicating TF2 rocket jumping in LBP as well as I could; try it out and let me know what you guys think !

I entered the level and thought "nice idea - this will be a funny experience", but as I reached the place you show at your last posted picture here, I fall in desperation. I have no idea what is to do there. Can you give me a hint?

I think you could work more on visuals , using only one material for a long time in gameplay enviroment doesnt seen good.
Try to mix 3 or 4 materials.
And also play my level (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=79766-Save-your-SackBros!)when you get time

Sure, I'll give it a try tomorrow. As for visuals, I agree but I wanted to stick to a colourscheme where blue = walkway | green = safe area | red = dangerous area. I'll definitely mix the visuals up in the level though.

put into the queue.

Thanks guys, let me know what you think (and any levels you want me to test out).

At this rate I might have to follow this up with a rocket jumping tutorial level (should I?) . It would make more sense if you played TF2 before, hence why I put the YT link in the OP.

But to do a basic rocket jump, you first jump and press R1 while aiming at your feet which should propel you into the air. If you aim more behind you, you will sacrifice jump height for jump distance.

All right, so I couldn't make it through this one, but I can advise on why. The rate of fire for the rockets is too slow, and they don't throw you enough. You have to have some EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME precision to get through many obstacles, in particular the Pogo Jump. After about 50 tries, I had to stop. I noticed there's only 1 person who's finished this, so you might consider tweaking the tech a bit so others can as well. XD There's hard, and then there's "something only you can do".2013-05-31 14:04:00

Thank you for your feedback (and lolz) . By now I've realized that I made rocket jumping a little too hard so I'll definitely use your suggestions on rate of fire and blast radius. Also, if you wish, tell me what levels you have that you would like me to test sometime. Oh, and if you're wondering who that 1 person is, it's not me by the way (it doesn't count your own completions I think).

EDIT: I'm going to do some improvements to the level tomorrow; to anyone who has yet to test it or has already tested it, tell me what aspects you find hard, and what you think could be done to make it a little easier.

I'll definitely try this and leave my feedback.
I've played TF2 before, so maybe I'll fare better lol.

If you could check out my new level

EDIT:

Played it and didn't finish lol

It was really fun and I think I got pretty far into the game.
The idea of making a level out of rocket jumping is very creative.
It was pretty hard though.

The hints were very helpful, but they disappeared so fast that I couldn't read some in time.
Maybe instead of using subtitles for hints, have a sackbot say the hints before each challenge.
That way I can read them multiple times and at my own pace.
Not that I'm a slow reader, but it's tough to only get one chance to read the hints.

If this game was a little easier and the challenges were a little more clear in how to get past them, this game would be really awesome.
Even now it's still a really fun game.

Finally a fellow TF2 player . Glad to hear you you liked my level and I've added your level to my queue. I'll leave you some feedback as soon as I can.

I'd agree with all the things that you've said here. I'll still use the subtitles for the hints, but I'll have them pop just before the start of each challenge and they will last as long as you stay there and read it at your own pace.

The only thing left after those improvements would be making rocket jumping a little easier. Only problem with that is that rocket jumping in it's very nature is quite hard but I remember reading that if the rockets threw you more and the rocket jumper fired a little quicker, it would be easier. I'll keep you guys updated when I've finished these improvements, and thank you for your feedback !

EDIT: Oh crap, PSN isn't letting me log in on PCs . I'll have to try later.

EDIT 2: Logged in now, and the level has been queued .
