Welcome everyone to yet another feast of truly great levels from the Level Showcases here on Central. With exams around the corner for many of you and the weather doing its best to dampen things, cheer yourself up by playing these wonderful creations.

There’s a distinctly brain teasing feel to the PS3 spotlight this episode with 3 out of the 5 levels featured guaranteed to have you clutching your head at some point. But don’t worry, you can always relax in a mud bath or blow off some steam in a madcap adventure in the remaining 2 levels.

For Vita fans bubble hunting is all the rage as highscore challenges dominate the Showcase and there’s plenty of racing goodness on offer from the Karting community

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/7681ba8d68dd9e1e4090d80c99e4997f9d2cd0a2.pngPower Up PowerPlant 2 (Tricky)Just_Tom__ Return to the Power Plant and work your wat through useing the Power Ups.. (Thanks to friends for support, and Links_R_us for the awesome tune)
Go, Go, Power Sackboy and any 3 of my wonderful friends in this pleasantly power-up extravaganza. I read a comment that was somewhere in the lines of "how can a sequel top a prequel?" It's not easy, but Just Tom does just that. The platfoming is consistent with a Just Tom level; creative, original, fun, and inspiring. Some say that a platforming "No, No" is introducing far too many gameplay mechanics, but the way their combined and laid out within this level is contrary to the point. Just Tom redefines the imaginative creative processes of platforming once again and once again shows how much creative Prowess he still has left in the tank. Kudos to you Just_Tom__ Once again Just_Tom__ takes perfectly innocent power ups and puts them to thoroughly devious uses! And I promise you that you’ll never again think of those red power up removers as dull – in Tom’s hands they reveal an unexpectedly menacing side and will have you muttering under your breath as yet again they strip you of your power up at a critical point! The platforming is ingenious and it will take both skill and wit to pass each section, especially if you want to find all the secrets and skill points hidden in the level. And as if getting through the obstacles themselves is not tricky enough, there’s an added hazard in the clever checkpoint lottery system. To have any hope of finding the secrets you’re going to need an infinite checkpoint but press that button a fraction too late and you’ll end up dicing with death on a single checkpoint instead. The power plant looks as stunning as ever and the music adds a lot to the charged atmosphere. It’s all brilliantly designed to test and tease the player and I promise you that you’ll have a blast trying to rise to the Machiavellian challenge. A truly creative and all round awesome level. Power Ups can so easily ruin a game, trick platforms to traverse? Grab a jet pack. You have to explore an underwater cavern? Oh just use a scuba tank. Finding that special balance of gameplay and inventive use grabinators is a tricky think to do. So load up the paintiantor and take note of this PowerPlant, as it does everything os so right, and then some! Jet-packs grappling hooks paintanators oh my. This level is just what its all cracked up to be. as it tests your skill in various obstacles with Just Toms wonderful checkpoint system adds to the excitement one wrong hit on the button and it could mean game over for your next four or eight moves or get lucky and score an infinite checkpoint. With Toms hidden secrets and skill points it will just make you scratch your head and look around how to get to challenging areas. This level screams with beautiful scenery and details you just will be happy with everything around you. Play with friends and grapple them into their deaths or just have fun with single player, you sure will have fun in this power-plant of excitement there's fun around every corner.

http://ie.lbp.me/img/bl/fbe0718a29fb5f06f3257bb07bd32c313729f77c.pngMuddy Ruins (platformer)yu-kamoneThese ruins sink in the muddy swamp and are very dangerous. And this swamp does not have a bottom. If you fall to a swamp, you will sink slowly. Be careful. (1~4player) ------ この廃墟は泥の沼に埋まっていてとても危険です。泥の沼には底がなく、もし落ちてしまったらゆっくりと沈ん でしまいます... どろんこになりながらも気をつけて進んでいきましょう! Music @Taxok20
I didn't bring enough wet naps with me on this adventure, so inevitably sackboy got quite messy. Maybe I should stay in the safe zones above the sinking muck that lays below, but I couldn't cause I kept getting lost in the design of this platformer. If I was to reccommend to anyone what level to play for a great example of how platformers should flow from A to B to C, this would be the one. This level is a pure example of what to do right when designing a platformer. I guarantee you will run, jump, and dredge your way thru the muddy obstacles as seamlessly as if you were reading notes from the sheets of Beethoven. Kudos to you, Yu-Kamone Well, it's a dirty job… delve into this sticky gooey world and squelch your way through some inventive platform sections, searching for some cleverly hidden points. But beware you're going to get dirty. So put on some old clothes and you will be as happy as a hippo in mud.Halp, by now I'm fast running out of superlatives to describe yu-kamone’s levels! But, yes, this is another platforming master class. The gameplay is fluid and beautifully designed with some cool contraptions thrown in for good measure. We have come to expect this from yu-kamone, of course, but just as impressive is his ability to come up with fresh ideas for the settings for his levels and new twists on the gameplay. Last time it was wind and here it’s mud! The ruins of the title are slowly sinking in a positive lake of mud…and so are the platforms beneath your feet! It’s only a matter of time before your sackboy himself/herself is sliding along neck deep in the glorious, oozing stuff. It’s so cool that it’s actually tempting to die just to see your sack disappearing under the surface! The level is full of great shlurpy, shticky sound effects and looks fantastic. So grab a pair of wellies and get down and dirty in this wonderfully muddy level.

I had an epiphany while playing Forlorn Valley, "I think Shookie is a master of creating levels that make my face muscles tighten in which a big smile is formed" Puzzles seems to be a strong theme floating thru a lot of great creative minds this week and Shookie does not fail to deliver in this one-of-a-kind adventure. Prepare to step into a world of wonderfully set-up puzzles that tingle your senses for the surrounding environment coupled with a intriguing storyline. I never realized one could be so creative with just a box and make it fit in seamlessly without feeling forced, just to satisfy a contraption/puzzle design. Kudos to you, Shookie Step into this surreal and ancient world and then throw some crates around, it's all about exploring in this platformer, looking for hints and ways to go hidden within the landscape. You'll be sure to get stuck a few times and then curse yourself as you wonder how you could have missed the obvious way to go.This level reminded me how much I enjoy a “proper” puzzle/platformer and also how long it has been since I played such a good one! The puzzles are beautifully designed and will definitely give you pause for thought as you work out how to progress through the level or reach the bonus score bubbles dotted tantalisingly around the ruins. It reminded me of some of zynax555's levels from LBP1 and that’s a high compliment. But being a Shookie level you don’t just get the puzzles but a stunning setting – with echoes of ICO - and a poetic storyline too. It’s a beautiful, thoughtful level which is just a pleasure to play. It may just have become my favourite level in this series and I can’t wait for the next chapter.

http://ib.lbp.me/img/bl/70ba88f588057102e8bba9bfead07bfe472fbaec.pngWester n Sack and the Pancakes of DestinyclarkdefCameo decides to make some pancakes, BUT!!! There is no milk or eggs left! So the unexpected journey begins once again, this time their destination is the shop. Will Cameo and Westie (YOU) make it? Will they meet unexpected friends or foes? Is the Higgs particle even REAL? Find out in this sensational adventure! [Level was inspired by NudeKing

A crazy western town with strange creatures and, um, hula girls? OK… I'll just bounce on past that and pay more attention to all the exploding roller coasters. This level has you rushing almost out of control past some interesting designs and set pieces. But the trick is to stay in control just a little bit, to not crash into something more dangerous. This level is a real breath of fresh air. It may not be an ultra-polished, advanced logic showcase filled with clever glitches and special effects but what it has in spades is that charm and fun factor that LBP1 was full of. You may think that a trip to the shops for milk and eggs is pretty mundane stuff but in this case you’d be wrong. This shopping trip is one action-packed rollercoaster ride (literally!) filled with bombs, tearaway mine carts and EVIL bouncing bunnies! You won’t have a moment to catch your breath as the gameplay comes thick and fast. You’ll also meet some colourful characters on your way and a very suspicious looking person in a bear suit! The whole thing is just so whacky and engaging. The clever bit, though, (yes, there’s a clever bit too!) is that you can change the difficulty setting for the level at the start and there’s a built in trophy system that rewards you for accomplishing various tasks...and for getting up to mischief too. I had a blast playing this and if you like silliness, quirky charm and great gameplay, then this level delivers on all three.

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/858166de61095a5fc3dbda5eecc353f6fc498ef4.pngElectr ical circuitSharfik1995Electrical circuit is a puzzle game. [1 PLAYER ONLY] You must reestablish circuit to activate energy points. Edit: now you can get points from completing all level + bonus for last level
Prepared to be shocked in this uncanny scaled down version of my house's internal wiring, atleast I hope it is near as clean of circuitry as this. In this time-is-a-ticking puzzler that will give that muscle in your head also known as a brain a thorough work out for sure. As your racing against the clock to complete a circuit, just to realize "a crud" the other 2 aren't connected and you scramble to get them connected just to realize the first one is now disconnected and then your brain explodes and all that's left on your face is drool caused from the amazingly creative puzzles that lay before you. Kudos to you, Sharkfik1995 Actually, it's very similar to what you have to do in this puzzler. You spin some Tetris like pieces around trying to get them all to link up and have the electricity flow to the important points. And then you realise that you need one more sentence, but it's in the wrong spot, the last sentence should be the first sentence and you have to start over. Errrr… I can kind of write reviews, but it normally just involves stringing some words together and hoping that it all flows correctly.Ah well, I now know that under no circumstances should I be let loose on any electrical circuits in real life and I was reminded forcibly of precisely why I have never taken up logic in LBP! So there’s no way I’m admitting how many minutes elapsed on the clock before I got to the end of these puzzles *cough* I did however have a great time tinkering with the circuits, trying to get all the switches facing the right way and the current flowing properly and it did…[I]eventually! It’s a simple enough premise but the puzzles are very well designed and there’s a nice difficulty progression with new types of switches and junctions (do I mean “junctions”? I think I do… being introduced in the later circuits. Add some polished presentation and you have an impressive puzzle level, particularly considering this was the creator’s first attempt at the genre. I look forward to more! This is just wonderful this electric spin puzzle is just what its meant to do. It makes you think, and makes you want to spin to beat your friends ever so lucky best time. This level is just so ingenious with its presentation that it makes for a treat. It starts out simple and easy then it goes crazy and makes you think "How do I even do this." Wit its simplistic controls and its ever so eye catching details all I want to do in this level is spin to win. So grab your controller and go spin some blocks around! NOW!!!!

Would you dare to travel between workshop's dimensions to collect as many Bubbles as possible ? I defy you all to write your name in the Highscores of this multidimensional race !

Dr. Scoreboard has a dare for you. Get through his kingdom in one piece, and collect as many bubbles as you can in the process. Bounce and platform yourself through a stunning level design, with twisted camera angles. Strap your self into a Sackboy cannon, and get ready for the bubble combos to flow like wine. A unique experience unlike anything I have played on the community moon yet. A fresh approach to gameplay mechanics will have you switching between dimensions with the tap of your shoulder button, and makes the action even more intense. You will be howling like a crazy Sackboy as the combos add up. And they will. After playing this, make sure you check out Behind the Screen 1 [WTS Creation Tutorial], for all the trade secrets of how Gwaeron005 made the level. Taught me a few things.Roll up all bubble hunters and highscore fiends - we have a killer level for you all!! Gwaeron has created a level where collecting bubbles could almost be considered the staple of the gameplay it's so inviting. A level you simply have to play over and over to make the most of, it's lucky it also has zany visuals and cameras galore to keep you coming back.

Come to rest in this calm sketchy land, or go crazy and rack up an insane score. Either way, enjoy! - 1P - Entry for The Planetarium's 5th creation contest. LBPCentral.com/LittleBigPlanetarium.com 8/5/13

Nysudyrgh has been making portable platformers for a few years. He was a staple of the psp community making high quality platformers and unique levels, and I was one of his biggest fans on that console. His newest creation looks so calming and peaceful in his screenshots. When you spawn into the level you are greeted with a serene landscape of harmless looking doodles, and soothing, relaxing music. Enjoy your brief moment of tranquility because things are about to get going. What starts off as a few easy obstacles, gradually begins to get more amped as the level progresses. The gameplay is fast, and the player better be ready to react to a few challenging situations. High score chasers beware, following a pen that draws out the level ahead of you could be hazardous to your Sackboys health. It's wonderful when PSP creators turn their hand to the PSV, and this level is a perfect example why. With the expereinced hands of nys, the more advanced tools can create a wide variety of gameplay and platforming you just wouldn't expect from a novice. Simply divine and a wonderful romp, we want more from this creator!Sketchlands is a simple doodle style level which slowly unfolds with the superb use of the Pen object . As you progress through the level the pen draws your path in front of which you, fits so nicely with the fast paced gameplay. As well as the exciting gameplay it is accompanied by a feast of points which will have you coming back for more points. This level surely must be a contenders for top spot in the Plcc5 contest.

VelcroJonze strips it all back with a classic platformer with a clever little level, jam packed with fun gameplay that'll remind you of the good old lbp 1 days. The perfectly placed score bubbles will have you coming back for more trying to get larger and larger combos. As well as the brilliant gameplay the visuals are easy on the eye with great use of stickers and a minimalist material choice which worked perfectly together.Already with a teampick and countless fame and heart-fortunes if you don't know Velcro's unique style by now then you must be living in a little universe away from the joys of LBP. If, like everyone else, you're a master of Jonze's creations then you'll know what to expect and I won't need to push it to you. All you need to know is that this is VelcroJonze - and that's about the highest compliment you can give.

Weave in and out between the many Ships docked at the port. And be sure to plunder out all the points you're kart can hold. This track is great, visually pleasing and great atmosphere. I definatly recommend this track to everyone who owns Karting.

Also from the Showcase...

Great job, Spotlight Crew. It seems you've found some levels I haven't played yet...diminishing queue is once again full...again. Will I ever get ahead? And, much to my surprise, the Easy(er) Version of Facility IX made it to the Mentions. Was not expecting that. Thank you very much and I'm glad you enioyed it.

Congratulations AWESOME Creators, on some fantastic works. The only one I was able to play so far was Shookie's and it was BRILLIANT X 2. The rest must be awesome.

Congratulations to all the spotlighted levels, and thanks for yet another honorable mentioned LBPK level. And kudos to Caiman for three spotlights and three honorable mentions of his LBPK tracks, that's quite an LBPK record.2013-05-13 05:39:00

Thanks spotlight crew, and congrats to everyone else who got mentioned!

Woot! Thanks for the HM! I'll have to re-submit Deep Ocean once I finish the Boss. XD She's giving me problems with her syncing.

Just one more level and CC2 will be complete.

Nice Vita spotlight, everyone really deserved it although i think Pulp's PSP recreations deserved something more than just a nod.

Will there be another VITA hub for this spotlight?

Yes, StevenI posted in the spotlight forums, and this is what he said....

Hey All,

Just a quick heads-up...
I was out of the office last week on holiday, so I wasn't able to publish LBN's hub level into the in-game news during their regular slot.

So to compensate, I'm having to shift LBN's hub to being published in today's news and will publish the LBPC Spotlight Hub either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Sorry for the random delay but regular service will resume after this week.

Pretty cool of the guy, huh?

Thanks, VJ Actually, though I think Steven was referring in his post to our normal PS3 hub being given a slot in the ingame news.

The VITA hub was originally intended to be a monthly and not a fortnightly hub but plans may have changed. I'll check with VJ and deadmn and see if we can let you know what's happening

Nice selection of levels. Always great to see some lesser-known creators get spotlighted. I hope the spotlight gets them many plays! One minor critcism in that I don't think yu-kamone should've been given another main spotlight, especially after having 2 levels featured a few weeks back. Not that his new level isn't good, but perhaps an honourable mention might have been better. He's already a very popular creator so doesn't really need the Spotlights to bring attention to his levels, he'll get thousands of plays regardless and perhaps the main Spotlight focus should be on the lesser known creators, as it is a great vehicle to get these folk more recognition.

Obviously I'm not trying to bit the hand that feeds, as you gave me a Spotlight, which I'm very grateful for. So I hope none of the Spotlight crew take any offense to my comment, just thought I should share my opinion.

Pretty cool of the guy, huh?

Stop sucking up.

No, i think every good level should get recognition, and Spotlight is here to show them off to us, no matter who creator is. Number of spotlighted levels is not limited, so no one missed his spotlight because of yu-kamone.

Goranilic summed it up perfectly. It's always been the golden rule of the Spotlight here that levels are judged solely on merit. It really is that simple. If a level is posted in the Showcase and it hits the benchmark for a full spotlight, then it gets one, no matter who created it or how many plays/hearts it has. It just seems fairer than to start excluding some creators because of past success. It's quite egalitarian in a way. And, as goranilic says, it really doesn't harm anyone else's chances of a Spotlight if yu-kamone gets one, because we have no maximum number we're looking to award. In some Episodes I think we've had as many as 17 or 18 levels with a full Spotlight.

It cuts both ways too. No matter how successful a creator has been he's not guaranteed a spotlight. We only gave an honourable mention to yu's recent Jurassic Egg Hunting level, for example.

The idea behind the Spotlight has always been simply to recommend to players the very best of the levels that have been posted on this site each fortnight. It was never intended to be a hidden gems type exercise, although, of course, we're always pleased when less well-known creators get some well deserved recognition out of it. Having honourable mentions helps there too, as does the hub, of course.

Oh and no offence taken. We're always happy to hear what you all think of the Spotlight and how it's run.

Ok, I see your point. Yeah, you're right... a creator shouldn't be excluded because they're well liked and/or popular. Although, I still kinda think that what the Spotlight does, is it basically says "Try this level, it's good". In yu's case... well.... of course it's good... it's a yu-kamone level! It's like someone saying "try this bacon sandwich, it's nice".... of course it's nice... it's got bacon on it!

I think part of me did think that you had some sort of limit on the number of levels you picked each time, so I'm glad you've explained it a bit better now. Thanks for that. You now have my full support if you want to pick another yu-kamone level (I'm sure he'll release another 10 or so by this time next month).

I always go into a level trying not to pay attention to who made it, the list we use doesn't have creator's names. Sometimes I play an amazing level and when rating it I might look at the creator name and think 'Ha... of course they made it!"

And I try to think of Spotlights as any other award, like once you win an oscar, it doesn't mean you can't win another one.

The best thing about Spotlights is there isn't a set number, so Spotlighting a great level by a known creator does not mean that we have to not spotlight another level.

I think that this the thing that causes most people concern. But we don't sit there and do things like "Ok we can only have 5 Spotlight levels... so which one don't we include?"

We just plod along a long list, voting on levels that were fund to play.

Personally I think that Isfahan's Downfall shouldn't Falldown to an honorable mention-it was one of the best levels I've played, but yeah.
Still, nice Spotlight.

Ah, and you'll just put the levels of the two spotlights in one hub, I get it.
I just wanted to see my level in a hub xP

As my esteemed colleague above has stated, in order to be featured on the website for making a spotlight-worthy level, you must first make a spotlight-worthy level.

Good luck with the game freezing every half-hour, though.
