Help with theft?

Archive: 13 posts

On littlebigplanet I love to create consoles/machines/gadgets - the lot. My latest line of consoles for lbp2 is called the T-Games NeXT Generation (T-Games being the name of a gaming team I am in). However - recently a user stole these consoles - create minor tweaks then release them as his own - under his own name - with no credit to me. The systems are unsharable so I have no idea how he does it. However, here is the proof:

MY CONSOLES:

MY CONSOLES STOLEN, TWEAKED, AND GIVEN AWAY, WITH NO CREDIT:

Now, this isn't the first time this has happened either.

Now, the problem is I don't know how to sort this out. I know this is a violation of the EULA as it states that user created content is owned by that user - and so he is stealing my intellectual property and claiming it as his (Plagiarism) however I don't know how to approach Sony with something like this. If you can - please (please!) offer some advice to help me out here. I have put a lot of effort into these creations and so it would mean a lot. If you know anyone that can help please spread the word to them

Thank-you for reading this.

I have no idea how they can steal if they aren't friends. If you know the person, go through the complaint form feature on the website, and report them under "illegal activity". At least I don't hang out with these kind of people. But normally, when I create something, I try to spread the word. But for those who want to keep their creations, I do see that if you make it, it's YOUR work, not others. So yes, use the report feature on the playstation website. But before you do, read the instructions carefully.2013-05-19 02:42:00

I said it on The Planetarium and I'll say it again. Everything you make is owned by SONY, not you. And anyone can copy your work and publish it as their own. It was like that on the PSP EULA, and I don't think it's different for LBP2.2013-05-19 14:30:00

Sorry man, not much you can do, it's happened to a lot of us--in fact, someone actually tried to take my stuff back in February--but I think you're already doing as much as you can by just letting people know it's yours and to look out. It's definitely unfair and infuriating, but I think that's just that. What you can do is be really careful to avoid these kinds of people. There are some real turds out there.

This is a giveaway level, right? If you want to keep it up, maybe you could limit it to just friends or those with some sort of key, that way at least it's narrowed down to people you can somewhat trust.

I looked at this guy's stuff, and it appears he's actually a frequent thief and copier, so yeah, they'll do that. Doesn't seem to be the most popular guy, luckily, so I think more people will know than be fooled.

I guess I don't know what to think. Just like someone attempting to copy a level. Not sure why they bother, but especially since you are giving them away. You have made it quite a bit easier to replicate your work.

To be horribly honest, calm down and ignore it. Think about it, they cannot think of any other ideas except replicating your work?

If I were you, I would create a level using your stuff rather than making stuff and have fun. That is the entire point of LBP. Quit looking over on the other side of the sandbox and worrying who might be copying. ..if they are, consider it a bit of a compliment.

Just make a new level and forget about thives and copiers , be more cautious , take the project in a new and bold direction that the copier could never replicate is my advice.2013-05-20 05:37:00

I agree with you on all of this. After all, all of the work we made is owned by Sony. And I really hate it when people declare a hate war on others' profiles for stealing their creations, especially when they make something similar and aren't stealing.

Are you sure you didn't plagiarise that name from NeXT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXT)?

That's a long story actually. I co-created the machine with a friend and he named it NeXT. I didn't know about the actual company called NeXT until a few months after.

Thanks for the help guys, it means a lot.

eventually your creations will be stolen. people will steal as much as they can from you and butcher all of it. a good way to deal with that is remember how much fun you had creating the things they stole and plan to keep creating better things than they could ever dream of creating. just try to keep creating better things that people will like and have fun doing it.2013-05-27 07:42:00
