different speeds?

Ok remembered the question i wanted to ask earlier... ok how do you make somthing move slowly in one direction, and fast in the other... for example, lets say I had a man swinging a golf club, and sackboy has to hold on to the golfball to get to the next part of the level, how would I make the golfer wind up the swing slowly, then go real fast and drill the ball??? not nescessary but still would make it look lot cooler than if he just went back and forth really fast | 2009-01-24 21:12:00 Author: Madafaku Posts: 738 |
Im not sure if this is too simple, but couldnt you just put a grab switch on the golfball, set it to ONE SHOT and attach it to the wobble bolt for the golf club. Then set the golf club FLIPPER MOTION this way he winds up slowly and swing extremly quickly. Just tweak your wobble bolt to either clockwise or counterclockwise flipper motion (You have to test both because one will make you wind up slow and swing fast and the other will make you wind up fast and swing slow). Hope this helps | 2009-01-24 21:15:00 Author: King_Tubb Posts: 435 |

Even though your problem might have been solved, I'll try explaining how to do what you initially asked. On a side note, I think flipper motion shouldn't be used for gameplay elements if possible. That is because the time a flipper motion takes is 0.0seconds, which is no time at all. Due to that, it can happen that whatever is moving in flipper motion just passes through solid objects. It can also happen that the object goes -inside- of a solid objects, which will make the solid object catapult through the level really fast. Here's an image on how I would set it up without flipper motion: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/4206/unbenannt1eq0.png I hope it's not drawn too sloppy =o. Basically, the two Magnetic Switches at the bottom will toggle the State Switch, which will either retract or strech the piston in the speed-regulator on the upper left. The way I drew it there, you'd have to invert the Speed-Switch to get what you want. So each time the golf-club reaches one of it's maximum positions, the speed will change between fast and slow. You can get the State Switch from my Switch Level (signature), if you don't want to make it yourself. | 2009-01-25 11:09:00 Author: Shiwayari Posts: 167 |
