Really great platformer !
The design is really nice ( I'm not really sure that Pulp is the Doodles Master anymore ) and the gameplay was awesome ! Combo are also very clever ! There is plenty of great features in this level, I'm not sure to win anymore...
I was just thinking about the songs : why can't I hear them ? I don't hear bubbles noises or sackboy's steps ! I also didn't see the race gate...
But these are just little details ! Your level stills an awesome platformer piece !

Ah yeah, I wanted to go for a sharp contrast between:
You, the bubbles and the music, that's it, very serene.
And
That insane fast going combo.
The race gate didn't fit into my scenery so I activated it with a sensor. The music, yeah that's a bug. Sometimes it won't play but I can't iron that out. Schark gave me advice but it still isn't bulletproof it seems. :/
Glad you enjoyed! But I still think your level is waaaay better. :star: We'll seewhat the judges think, shouldn't take long. Only 4 entries.

Uh? Tell that to the WINNER of Juego de Coronas III (http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/LittleBigPlanet/Ganadores-JdC-III-Aventura-Bidimensional/td-p/18877050) Lol

Now, about The Sketchlands... Queued! I want to see if it really is that good! Haha!
I don't doubt it! Nys does great things! :star:

Fun to play, cool visual style. I like the choice to not see the race gate or have all the usual sounds.
I figured someone else would probably also do a sketch/doodle related level

A'ight, put this thread F4F because I have nothing else to do.
If you want feedback on a future level, that's okay for me too, just don't forget to remind me that I still owe you a feedback when you've published it. C:

EDIT: Got stomped off the Cool Pages. Well, it was fun while it lasted I guess. :B

I have some feedback for you:

Nice little platformer with some minor problems. Great art style and level design, but irritating background music.
(it's a little bit short, isn't it?)

More detailed feedback:
1) Sound/music

I'm missing sound effects here. The only sound effects that I've found are from the bubbles. That's all! I want something for jump, dying (multiple sounds actually), respawning out of a checkpoint and using the bounce pads! Feedback for the player is really important, and the only feedback I have is what I see on the screen and the clicks on my buttons.
The background music doesn't fit the level because it doesn't fit with the atmosphere/theme of the level*. It's really slow and relaxing, while the level is hectic and fast-paced. The ticking timer of the race also doesn't help here. Maybe consider something faster and busier, or speed up the music.
* And because it's used in Flower Pop !

2) Design

First of all, I love the art style! You've used it really well and it fits the theme of the level.
However, there are some things I don't understand. First: the use of layers. All of the gameplay takes place on a single layer, but checkpoints sometimes seem to be placed behind that layer. Not directly behind the gameplay-layer in the thin layer, but somewhere further behind the layer. You can see it in this screenshot:
http://id.api.vita.lbp.me/img/ft/91de346d43083eb3521ecfde54c70089478dab28.jpg
The checkpoint (on the right) is sitting really close to the spikes here, but when you stand in front of it, you'll see it is more to the right. Something this screenshot does show correctly, however, is how far back the checkpoint is placed; too far back in my opinion.
Going back to the screenshot, I think the bounce pads are too small. At first, I thought you could land anywhere near the circle with the X in it, but I found out that you could only land on the circle with the X in it.

It's maybe a little bit confusing. You could try making the stripes on the side lighter grey, or make them move like strings when you jumped on a bounce pad (circle with X in it).
There are a lot of spikes in the level, but the animation for dying is for touching plasma. I think it will be more realistic if you place spikes when you 'draw' spikes, instead of using plasma.
I really like your use of the pen in the level, drawing the platforms as you progress. I think you should've used it more often throughout the level.

3) Gameplay

Sometimes when I got near moving platforms, they'd only start moving when I jumped towards them (thereby killing myself). Maybe you could make the trigger radius a little bit bigger?
I think I've found a bug: somehow I walked through a platform here, and I landed below the spikes in a completely dark area. Good thing I could use my Popit to restart at the last checkpoint.

It happened by trying to walk from the higher platform on the carousel onto the lower one (higher platform in the top right / lower platform in the lower left).
I don't think you should have added 'short' as a label. It took me quite some time to complete, and some other levels in the PLCC5 are shorter in my opinion.

As said, it's a nice platformer, but it needs some polishing. I hope you find my feedback useful.

And would you like to play my level and leave some feedback (as part of F4F)? You can find it on LBP.me (http://vita.lbp.me/v/c8j78) or take a look at the thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=79514-Sackville-s-hero) I've made.

Well, I was going to leave a review, but it would be hard to follow up after Jpelgrom.

I will try too anyway.

This is a great level bro. The art style is nice and pretty, but the gameplay is cold blooded. You have become more devious and unforgiving in your older years Nys.

Seriously though, I totally enjoyed this. I have no problem with challenging levels, and I will no doubt keep this in my downloads for a long time. Great use of "the pen" too. If it weren't for that I might have entered that contest. I applaud anyone who could have taken that contest requirement and used it the way you did.

I love your work on lbp vita, but I have been wondering when are you going to make just a regular platformer? I miss those.

Hearted! <3

(1 Sound/Music:
The calm music was put in for some contrast-shock effect I wanted to create. (Hasn't been succesfull so far .-.)
The absence of SFX is part of this, it's you, the combo and the music. That's what I had in mind.
But I understand where you come from, I once test-played with the SFX on and I enjoyed all these bubble popping sounds but I still wanted to see the community's reaction to an SFX-less level.

(2 Design:
Why thank you! The art style is kinda inspired by my own countless doodles drawn on my math books and tests. xD
The checkpoints ... Uh why did I ... AH! I remember! Back in an earlier stadium of creating, they had to be back there or they should've been visible. And since I have copied every checkpoint from the first one, the layer was never changed. >_<
The bouncepads, I figured people would've been confused about them, but couldn't find a good solution to make clear that onlt the circle was a landing area. That grey is an awesome solution! *Notes down* The plasma is really the same reason as the checkpoint thing, started out like that, and never changed it. I just didn't think about it anymore. I also like to think that the plasma death animation is your ink getting all scrambled or something lol. The first time I used my pen animation, it gnawed away thermo, so I didn't use it too often. But if I look at it now, it seems there's enough space for MOAR pen!

(3 Gameplay:
Making the trigger radius bigger only makes it more difficult. :s The best solution is to place the sensor a bit back and time it so that the combo can be continued. I'll have to experiment around so that it ends up right. I labeled it short because it takes me under 2 mins to finish it, but I guess that's only the case for me. <_<

Anyhow, your feedback is very usefull and there will be a big update coming soon!
Got your level queue'd up, expect some feedback later. Thanks man!

Ah don't worry VJ, I am happy with every kind of feedback. xD

Yesyes, ye shall die multiple times and crawl trough my level. :kz:
But in all seriousness, I think it's because of the combo thing, I said it before, the longer I make the combo, the more difficult it gets. I'm glad you enjoyed it though. Yeah the pen was a pain to find something for, I just went ahead and took the easiest solution, but Freddy and Gwearon found something clever to use them aswell! (Not counting Pooka in becaws she has drawings aswell.)
I'll go make regular platformers again, my previous levels were all Contest/Project/Experiment stuff.
Platformer stuff coming next! (Although I'd love to make such a nice touch/tilt/whatever game like in the arcade. )

Whew, lotso typing.
