Top-Down Survival Horror Game; Postions Open!

Archive: 2 posts

I'm working on a really detailed, rather long, and hopefully scary Survival Horror Game;

Hatter Fields: Top-Down Survival Horror

If you'd like to see the work so far, look it up in game or on lbp.me or on the thread on here.

What I need is some minor help with it. I'm good with Logic, and most of the design, but what I lack is a mic, and ideas on some truly scary set-ups for it. It will be scripted, so, think Silent Hill, not Left 4 Dead (Can you call that horror??).

Voice Acting:
Edgar V. (Between 200-250 lines needed total, he's Sarcastic, and scared usually, but does his best to man up, since he's the Main Character)
Elise D. (Only about 20 or so lines needed, Edgar's Fiancee, Reserved but Faded and Sad)
Miscellenous Townspeople. (Any voice will do.)
Trevor (Escaped Convict, Rough and Rude, but Nice Enough)
Amelia (Snobby heiress type)
Enemies (Low-high voices, maybe use a modified Voice setting? Not too much dialogue needed, but the stock sounds aren't good enough alone, you know?)

I'd do this myself, but I can't. The game desperately needs Voice Acting to really be effective, too.

-Enemies:
I have SMART AI, they dodge attacks, see your light, search for you, hear eachother, attempt to flank and know what your gun is. Edgar can threaten them by aiming and pulling L2, and they back up, stop, and wait for an opening. If your gun is empty and you try to shoot, they rush you. If you reload, they rush. Scary things happen, and they can climb obstacles fast, and open doors, hiding places, and more. The game will have a Stealth element, as in Fight, Flee, or Don't be seen to begin with. Sneak Attacks are employed for certain melees, too.

So, with that in mind, think of honestly scary designs and creatures, go all out, I want to really freak players out.

-Music:
I want a soundtrack to go with the game, but I'm clumsy with music, so the main track I still need is:

-Daytime, which would be a 50's town tune, looping casually, similar to the Simulation Vault in Fallout 3, but when you hit a darker area of the town, or somewhere legitimately dangerous, it would change silently to something almost the same, but with off-timed and off-key notes every few seconds, and echo as if far away.

If anyone wants to take a go at that, that'd be lovely, otherwise, I'll manage by Chapter 3.

If anyone provides anything that makes it into the game, you'll be given a heart, and credit in the Credits, which in later versions will be a stylized menu, listing people by category they helped with.

Thanks for any help, or just viewing. I know this is a long read. D:

Indie in da haus!

Unfortunately, I am kind of a beginner of sorts, I don't think I could provide the kind of help with the complex level you have in mind.

I do, however, just want to say that I think this is going to be epic! It sounds like you've planned it out pretty well, with lots of neat details. I particularly like the 50's music *shudder*. I will definitely put myself up for testing the level if you need a tester!

Well done man, this is just awesome! Keep us updated!

Cheers, Bud.
