Another glue problem: unglueing popit objects

Archive: 5 posts

I' not sure it hasn't been asked before, but here's my problem: when I retreive one my own objects from popit for improvement and I want to unglue any given part of it, I seem to be forced to unglue half of it, or worse. It might not be a bug, but then again it might not be some sort of protection like the lock on community or game objects either (I'm referring to the fact that you can't change those (apart from some stickers or settings)). Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Thanks2009-01-24 18:42:00

Once you save an item into your popit it becomes un-editable if you select it through the popit menu. Atleast im pretty sure thats the case (Someone feel free to prove me wrong).2009-01-24 21:17:00

Possibly, but your own objects in popit can still be edited in ways comunity and game objects cannot. As I said, sometimes I have to unglue the whole sodden mess to remove just one part. Removing parts, even only one, is something you can't do to game and community objects. There seem to be other rules for your own captured objects, and that is why I put the question. I've no high hopes for it though, but thanks for helping.2009-01-24 21:36:00

You can change parts to dissolve and then remove seperate parts by attaching a button to them. But the whole object capture thing became a bit more buggy with 1.07, the latest patch. Hopefully the new patch coming in the very near future should help to address this.

But in general there is a thing called the "unglue bug". If you glue and unglue something with many parts enough times, eventually the engine gets forgetful and just makes the entire bunch of objects unglued, without allowing them to be reattached.

You might be seeing this, as I think capturing objects still keeps a record of how many times something has been glued and unglued. This bug has been around since launch, the only real solutions are to unwind things back or use bolts, and both of those solutions are not always practicle.

Some sort of unglue bug might be the problem indeed, because in the end there seems to be no logic in what is glued to what exactly. Though I must say I never had a problem with re-gluing unglued parts, it's just that in my particular case there are to many tiny moving parts that are too troublesome to re-glue -- but thanks to your solution with dissolve and some more mind boggingly silly tricks (like shaking parts out of the thing) I managed to solve the problem. Nice work on the digestive tract by the way.2009-01-25 13:03:00
