Sensors: Split second delay at high speed?
Archive: 2 posts
Here's a little background.. I'm making a radar system for a jet of mine, and the idea is that I use a rapidly spinning piece of hologram to acquire long range targets while scanning the level. I have it set so that if there's a registered signal (emitted tag) detected before it detects the player, then the radar won't attempt to re-register it. To make things easier, the tag sensor radius is LARGER than the player sensor, making early detection a no-hassle. Problem is, I've tested it, and there's a problem. There's an apparent delay between the TAG sensor and the PLAYER sensor, to where the tag sensor can't pickup a registered signal in time to tell the system to not re-send a tag. My theory is that the tag detection field has a delay at speeds in proportion to radius. So since my radar poles scan at high speeds in a long-range scenario, the sensor delay is too high for it to tell that the target it's facing is already marked. So my question is... Does anyone know any sort of sensor delay with logic? (In seconds, or any form of time) Much appreciated if anyone responds, thanks! | 2013-04-30 17:55:00 Author: dethklokrulez12 Posts: 21 |
Test those sensors by connecting them to an XOR gate, you should find there is no delay from the sensors. It's probably originating in your processing logic somewhere, bottom inputs of selectors and microchips are a common source of delay. | 2013-05-01 13:15:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
