Im trying to run steam but it says it cant connect, i go to troubleshooting and it says blocked by netgear firewall. help?

Im trying to run steam but it says it cant connect, i go to troubleshooting and it says blocked by netgear firewall. help? Turn your firewall off. Or add it as an exception.

Turn your firewall off. Or add it as an exception. i dont know how! its not the same as windows firewall and it doesnt work as a program!

Google it maybe? The firewall is on the router not the the laptop? Netgear probably 192.168.0.1 user name: admin password: password go and have a look through it.

Define "it doesn't let me". Is the Netgear router from your Internet provider? Perhaps call them for help.

No, the router isnt from my internet provider. when i go to the ip it says cannot connect though. i have lost all hope now :/ Besides i only use steam to play Blacklight retribution anyway... and you can download that without steam

Ummm... well, have you thought about looking at the model number and going out to Netgear for the manual? ..unless maybe you have the manual handy? They would have the info to allow you to log on the router and see possibly what is going on.

I found out the problem. My bro also uses steam and he is grounded or something so steam is blocked :/ wow. I feel stupid...
