Marvel Avengers Skrull Alien Invasion

Archive: 10 posts

I just thought I would advertise my level here because it took forever to make and I barely have any plays (out for 2 months or more)

-It contains 8 hero's to choose from, each with their own unique play style.
-I made custom animations for each sackbot, with their own effects and powers.
-I would have made it longer but because of thermometer problems, I had to take off stuff and bosses.
But if you play it and tell me how to improve it, that would be great! Thanks if you play.

If your cautious about playing it, the people who play it, play it more than once

I'll give it a shot, since I am quite the fan of superheroes if my lbp.me profile information is any indication.2013-04-24 22:58:00

I got to try it last night. It was pretty neat! Nick Fury is probably the most adorable sackboy. XD There was some good work with all of the unique heroes, as they all had some very interesting powers. I think if I had a recommendation for improvement, I might reduce the number of heroes, and use the extra thermo space to tidy up the background. Maybe add some window decorations and doors to the buildings in the background to make it a bit more interesting than paneled boxes.

And get rid of Batma- I mean Moon Knight. He was no more useful in Web of Shadows either, and he is irritating. (Sorry,I'm just a member of the 'Punch Moon Knight in the Face' club. Charter member actually.)

O-hoh! When I saw the logo, I wasn't expecting this to be good. However, I still played it. It's likely the most conflicted level I have played in a while, but it's still very good. I will give you a full review later.2013-04-25 20:23:00

Very nice level idea. The heroes are great.
At the end it was a little bit confusing to me. I don't understand how the "bridge"(?) (left from the scoreboard) works.
I reached the scoreboard only by chance

Overall it's a very nice level

thanks for the review, i was going to make a new one with only the 4 avengers in order to make more space for enemies. The thermo is the reason why i didnt add more detail too.

EDIT:

I don't understand what you mean about conflicted, is it the heroes or what? Also, u think the logo is what turns people away? What recommendations do you have about that kind of stuff?

Well, it's conflicted as in terms of quality, which you just explained: the controls for the heroes worked fine, their abilities were cool and fun, the beginning where you leave the ship was great, BUT the enemies were little to no threat, it was rather easy and the visuals were... Well, around average middle-point.

It's half awesome, half average, yet when it's mixed, it's a pretty good level (because it's the gameplay that matters and the heroes are cool and awesome). It's like a tutorial level for these heroes, when you think about it... Anyway, like you said, to make more room for the details there should be less characters. Go with the Avengers-thing. Besides, my favourite Marvel-heroes are Hulk and Captain America, so I would have nothing to complain about in that case.

Sorry, I forgot to give the full review, but I hope this counts for something. Just to say, it's a good gameplay-experience, yet not so visually appealing. I would give this a 7/10 in conclusion because it is mostly fun. Not at one point did the visuals take away from the awesome of Hulk smashing enemies by jumping on them from the air, or Iron Man flying into air, shooting about four Skrulls in a cluster with his special-move.

And about the logo, you could have made one yourself since that doesn't affect the thermometer. For the next one, I would suggest to have all the heroes' heads on a yellow background or a similar "Avengers"-logo as the movie does, IF that's what you're doing next, that is. For this one, I don't know. Maybe just smash all the heroes' heads in one picture (oh, and activate "front view" before taking the picture and turn the daytime to night, but don't make it dark, since that's the best way to take the picture in my opinion)? That's just my suggestion and on the record, I am not a great logo-creator myself, so I really can't blame you. However, thinking about it the logo is probably the reason this isn't getting many plays. As you see, from 23ish plays this level already has 13 hearts, so that does count for something. It's like the movie Dredd 3D: It's awesome but people aren't really pulled towards it in anyway when they look its logo/poster.

Good review, and yeah it does remind me of how dredd didn't do so good but was critically acclaimed (not saying mines is). I am working on a new one, and I got to to say that the background is definitely improved. I am going more for the cartoon-ish look, kind of like the marvel super hero squad online kind of scenery. By the way, I did intend it to be like a tutorial just to show off the sackbots I made because I thought they were to cool to keep to myself. But I will try to add more enemies that react to you, cause of thermometer problems, I had to strip some logic and go simple on the old one. Your being good help thanks again 2013-05-04 08:39:00
