Archive: 5 posts

Hello, fellow Sackpeople! The continuation you all have been waiting for is finally here for you to play and love! You know what I mean. The Mud-Patrol is back to finish the adventure (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=77683-The-Mud-Job) you started a while ago!

Part 4 - Showdown (http://lbp.me/v/j58zkp) lets you face a mean boss after you took the pumping station security systems!
Action!

And don't forget to watch the final cutscene (http://lbp.me/v/j58zvy) (which is part 5) after that.

I got to play through the whole of the mud job the other day. Really cool stuff! The gadgetry was probably my favorite part. I'm still a bit 'HOW U DO THAT?' over the figure 8 platforms that switched tracks. Initially the thing I would say is that this level series seems very British. Not that that's bad, I just can't look at the Mud Patrol and not hear Brian Blessed, and the humor seemed to have that same style of wit. I liked how it was cinematic throughout, with cutscenes not dragging down the flow of level. It's good because the R1-ing across grabbable ceilings does that instead. That's probably my biggest complaint, as I see the act of slowly inching my way across ceilings to be a flow-killing crawl. Like you're sliding down a waterslide and every so often you run into twelve hippos and an opera singer wedged into a pipe, and the only way you can get around is by slowly wiggling through their rolls of gelatinous mass. It's a possible act unless you've got butter fingers or the controller gets bored at which point you die and have to wiggle through the reeds from the beginning.

The platforming was quite fun, but I'd have liked to have seen green mud used a bit more. There were maybe like two parts I noticed, and one was the tutorial, which was a shame because... SLIDES! They're fun! Plus it adds an extra level of tension to platforming when you suddenly realize suntan lotion and oil has been smeared over ice, and you can't slow down even if you want to, and there's a spike wall ahead and a rope to grab.

This is also a very small nitpick, since it's my favorite part of the whole she-bang, but at the triple slap, I'd have liked to see some global or local antigravity so the final slap be in slow-motion.

Nonethless it was a very imaginative and very fun level that was quite enjoyable! Good (mud) job!
