Which level was hardest to ACE???

Archive: 177 posts

For me It was the Serpant Shrine (or Whatever) I mean a little patience went a long way on that level but the boss would urk me off alot... Soo many times I made It to him without dieing, and with one bomb blast remaining would become trapped then either blow myself up, or trying to escape get smacked by the Impact explosives...

Another one that was hard but not nearly as frusterating was the construction site, but I played that level soo much I could beat it in my sleep.. I guess its just the bosses that made the levels hard for me.. all though the bunker and collectors lair were deffinately not to be sneazed at!

*edit*
yeah Just wondering, was I the only one dissappointed by the yellowhead suit? I mean yea its cool, and probably nastalgic if you work for Mm, but I felt kind of ripped off tell tha truth... I mean I guess collector isnt really that hard, atleast for a game boss.. but still the costume dissapointed me, I mean I dont ever even use it because most tha time if im running or somthin I cant even see myself!

thanks man

Well, I'm still acing things, but I think the hardest one for me will be one people don't expect... The wedding reception.

All those springs need a fair bit of co-ordinated button pressing to get working right. With the muscle problems my right arm has it's a physically difficult level for me to finish.

Sure, it's not nearly as hard as some of the other levels to theoretically ace, and I'm sure I'll struggle on stuff like the bunker, boom town and serpent shrine, but physically for me it can be very difficult to do the reception.

The hardest one for me was the bunker, its just that big wheel that is so annoying. but i beat it and got a neon helmet.ITS SWEET!

the serpents shrine wasnt that hard and neither was the collecters lair.

the only reason i didnt ace the collecters lair is because at the end i would die.

and not at the robots,no. It was at the part where the erath comes out of the ground, yeah that part.
the robots were easy its just somehowi got stuck and had to do it again. but i did it and got the yellowhead suit

I suggest that you quickly delete your second post and put what is there in to your first one. as an EDIT section. because you will get an infraction for that very soon...

On topic... The hardest one for me to ACE was The Construction Site... >_> That was one of the hardest ones for me but i did it after who knows how many tries.

Cheers!

As moderators we have been specifically asked to relax the rules regarding double posting. Users are encouraged to keep things neat and tidy, and of course not to spam in the same thread over and over, but if a decent amount of time has past then we will no longer be issuing warnings and penalties for minor double posts that have genuine new information.

That being said, you could take the information from one post, delete it and put it into the other one. If people are bumping though for no reason, however, we will lock the threads.

Basically, the penalties are still there for abusers of double posting, but the enforcement of it has been relaxed.

I'll now leave you back to your regularily scheduled discussion.

You can glich the serpent shrine, Zapata, second part.
Use the first timed bomb to blast a chunk from his wall, then run as far to the right as you can. The Impact Explosives SHOULD stop falling.

Hardest for me... Definitely Serpent shrine, and Construction Site. And kinda Terrible Oni's Volcano.

I had no problems with the Boss at the Serpent Shrine. Just figured out how to keep away from the blast radius.
The Bunker took the most tries for me, but Boom Town I felt was the most annoying to Ace.

The Indian time trial with the tiny little platforms; then I realised I didn't give a **** about a fast time and aced it

For 'proper' story it was Boomtown, the bit with the pillars that explode your bomb just at the end of the level were just so unneeded..

The bunker was pretty bad, but after a pint of Guinness i aced it.

ahaha, that's exactly how it went for me too with the bunker, except cheap 40s instead of Guinness. Probably the most ridiculous thing I've seen while playing this game is me and two other friends acing the bunker while intoxicated. I'd also say serpent shrine, though I eventually did that one too.

Oh my god! I must agree it has been a while i haven't got frustrated this much because of a game but same here, that mines level and oh well all of these Canyons levels got me so frustrated! For me, the Canyon section was the hardest... All of these bombs, timebombs, bombs with jetpack, bombs here, bombs there...lol

So far, i'm acing the others levels either one shot or after 2-3 tries, i even aced the collector one shot. I would give anything to have captured this moment and show you guys how it happenned that was hilarious, i jumped on that little robot the boss drop and then i got "pinball jumped" on all of the switches on the boss... bing bang boom... close the books...lol

Hard levels:

Bunker
Boom Town
The Mines*
Serpent Shrine
Construction Site
Sensei's Lost Castle*

The ones with * are the ones I've had trouble with. I haven't attempted the bunker yet. I was surprised how easily I beat Boom Town, as it took like a full irl day to just beat it (same with bunker).

Sensei's lost castle sucked, I usually died on the sumos, and I went insane on the spinning grab sponges

Mines was difficult too!

I have done all the levels up to and including the islands, so only Temples and wilderness left (but I have done Frozen Tundra).

Personally, I find just two levels hard to ace, and they're both in the same area.

Serpent Shrine, and The Mines. I find the rest rather easy to ace, although I haven't yet as I haven't actually tried. Construction Site was fairly hard, but I like that level so I didn't mind too much.

Serpent shrine was probably the hardest because of all the stupid mistakes that are possible, the boss battle isn't very hard though. The only annoying thing really about that level is the 2x challenge. I can't find anyone online with the ability to understand if I send a message to them saying 'stand on the button when I grab it'. Also if the connection jumps it's very easy to die.2009-02-01 14:31:00

I found the Construction Site the hardest. There's a bit at the start where the speed of the rolling fire logs gets messed up so that there's one coming at you slowly and then another behind it rolling faster. If you rush in without waiting for them to pass it seems like it's nearly impossible to jump over both.

Ze Dude was also a really frustrating boss...

FOR SURE!!! the 2X on that level sucks! I still havent been able to get it... they either jump on it right before i grab on, leaving me to die.. or do it too late, getting me killed... freakin snakes!

Yeah I found that annoying. The best way to do it is just to keep trying. Also, try it at a time of day when your connection is good. I got the platinum today aswell! That was one of the last ones I had to do.

Exactly. I'd always screw up on the first two tiny platforms of the top tier. I thought taking it slow would help, but it's much easier if you do it at speed, so your momentum carries you across.

The bunker isn't hard if you relax a little.

I agree. None of the main story levels are that hard. The best thing to do is just play them through a few times. If you're trying to ace a level don't restart when you die, keep playing through, it's good practice. If you play for The Collector a few times you'll quickly learn where he fires his electric missiles, so avoiding them becomes no bother at all.

Ze Dude seemed a lot more chaotic and random than the Collector. It was just a matter of memorizing the Collector's attack pattern, but with Ze Dude you had to hope that the fire log would be launched the right way after hitting the button, had to keep track of what way the floor was tilted, predict when he'd fire his next shot and where it would land, etc.2009-02-11 20:35:00

my problem with the serpant shrine really had nothing to do with the level, it was pretty easy (1...2...3... jump) just take your time and watch out and its no problem... my problem was the boss.. it drove me crazy to get to him and be killed and have to restart the whole thing... I prefered the construction site.. the boss was alot harder, but the level was easier...

There all easy. bunker might take a few tries... all the mini levels are no prob since you did the firepits... only thing that could be trouble is (dont remember the name) the wheel levels in the canyon levels.. there not hard though.

try a dvd (non bluray) or a PS2 game, if it works you may just have to log onto PShome or try to play a demo, then from there hit your PS button and see if your game is on.. if it is you can load it from there...

My PS3 has this issue.. and theres no way to fix it that I know of, just have to start a demo then load the game...

One of the best things about LBP is how many people it caters for, and how the various levels need specific skill sets to finish them.

I'm with you Madafaku - It was the Serpent's Shrine that did me in. The Sheriff is the toughest boss because you have to simultaneously judge the timing of the bombs being thrown and the speed of the moving platforms. It was actually the last level I aced, and I put enough money in the swear-box for a return trip to Barbados!

The Bunker isn't easy, but when I came to attempting to ace it, surprisingly I did it first time. The killer is obviously the big wheel at the end - but when you break it down, it's just three layers, two of which have loads of grabbable material in them so you can just hold on if the timing's off, and the last bit needs some adroit jumping skills - the trick to which is not to jump too hard, just little controlled jumps.

I also agree with you on the Yellowhead issue. It's a pretty rubbish costume, and virtually impossible to play with - it should have been one of the first prizes.

I think that the Chinese Dragon mask (4 player section of 'The Collector's Lair&apos is the best of the costumes.

The Mines was the biggest glitcher for me, it was easy; yet things such as carts flying caused it to be difficult for me.

Strange how all the glitching is in The Canyons, eh?

I had trouble with the dojo. Those cardboard things that you have to run across seemed glitched (never used to be) in that it seems like luck whether they collapse or not. Other than those things though, the level was pretty straight forward.

Bunker and Fire Pits also proved frustrating. Done them all in the end though.

Really?!?!? ...well, I guess I did enjoy the part leading up to the outside layer as I liked walking on the roof so to speak.

I just hated the not so friendly camera angle during the outside rim of the wheel of dispair and sorrow. I also didn't like having to redo the parts leading up to the wheel so many times.

Bunker - far and away the hardest... Never would have aced it if I didn't end up on the top of the wheel one day - then I was like "woah, this is sweet - have I died yet? Oh my god I haven't died yet!!! And then I died on the next area of electric spikes. Thankfully I figured out how to get on the wheel again and eventually aced it."2009-05-13 01:24:00

The bunker...easily

I died on the last thing you could possibly die on...the last little electic hurdle on the treadmill after the big wheel.

I went on to slam the controller and shout obscene profanities

I returned about 10 minutes after my rant, aced it, then slammed my controllers again and shouted profanities but this time it was because i was ridiculously happy that i finally aced all the levels.

Thats my opinion

On the Construction site this is a really great tip.

Always stay on the left of the guy shooting. If you go up against the left wall jump on to the checkpoint place to be safe then resume following.

On the 3rd boss guy just stay on the left wall pulling it left. Eventually (2 minutes max) he will get killed.

This really helped me.

I'm going to say Boom Town. Carrying those impact explosives were just really nerve-racking.

I beat the Serpent Shrine on my second attempt (the first time I got SQUISHED between the platforms in the second boss part >_>), but of course it was one of the last things I did on LBP and I've really gotten the hang of the controls by then.

serpent shrine and construction site where the hardest for me just because of the sheer annoyance of making it to the boss then getting beaten a million times. serpent shrine was not too hard in the sense of being lown up but for, on numerous occasions i got squashed between the moving platforms. getting the timing right on construction site was just nasty as the rest of the level was such a breeze.

by the way, i recently obtained 100% of the trophies on lbp including all the mgs trophies yet when i compare my trophies to others, it only displays 94%. is this something others have found or know how to fix? im not too bothered as i know myself i have the 100% its just a bit odd

Bunker was the hardest for me. Boom Town I got in two tries, and the Construction Site I aced on my first re-run through

I don't know why people thought the construction site was that hard, the Collector was harder for me

Fire Pits (even though I have the bunker; collectors lair; and the collector left)...

I aced Fire Pits yesterday after more then 100 attempts (in total). Funny thing was that I managed to jump over the sensor-switch where the second lap begins, so I actually needed a third time. Of course I died. But finally, I aced it!

The Bunker. Definately. That stupid rotating machine at the end got me killed SO. MANY. TIMES.

I aced all other levels (except for the collector's levels) though. Got Serpent Shriine without a hustle, that stupid guy at the end was so easy.

i used to think the bunker was the hardest but after aceing it i noticed that once you perfect timing its pretty easy, the one level which made my hands sweat most was the last bit of boom town, i messed up SO many times2009-05-30 12:56:00

For me it would probably be Fire Pits due to my Dualshock3's analogue stick being damaged at the time so jumping the right distance was a pain. With the bunker it was just a matter of timing and once you get used to it its all good.

Definately my biggest achievement games wise was getting the LBP Platinum.

3. The Mines

The impossible level to ace is the 2nd or 1rst on the gardens; I don't quite remember right now.
There's a part where you fall down because a bridge breaks, for the ske of explaining how to kill yourself.
You have to kill yourself there, so there's no way I can ace that.

Does anyone know how to ace that level?

Simple, mai dear boy! There is a sticker switch earlier on, I think it's a shoe. This brings down a race gate. the race gate also brings down a bird at that point, which you can jump on and swing to the other side.

Anyway, definitaly the Bunker. The Collector was hard too... then again this was a while ago.

Yes, as I said Construction Site is awfully hard.
The bunker can be aced with skills and patience, for the CS you have to be lucky
I aced all the other levels within the first 2 weeks, but I managed to ace CS only one month ago, after trying everyday and always dying by the hands of Ze Dud.
I know that level perfectly, I can quite play it blinded, more than that I absolutely hate the music.
It has been a nightmare.

Okay, so The Bunker was the last level I aced (did it last night, FINALLY got the trophy! w00t!), but I still think that Collector's Lair was harder. All the moving platforms and such made it hard for me to get the patterns down. For me, the hardest was definitely Boom town. Ugh... I hate to even think about it! That part with the bombs and the jagged rocks! You have to be so slow and cautious. It's very difficult and requires a lot of concentration, but it's also SO nerve-wracking, so it took me a while to manage to ace. And boy, was I happy when I did!

Funnily enough I didn't find The Bunker as hard, although it's generally accepted as being 'the hardest level'. Serpent Shrine was another tough one, and although The Mines and Sensei's lost castle are tough, I don't know why so many people have such trouble acing them

The Bunker...the ^*@#$@ wheel at the end...and the conveyor belt w/ the electric spinny things...WOW. I had 100% completion a long time ago, but I reformatted my PS3, and I had to do it over again...never again will I go through such torture... Sure, I like a good challenge... but never again! Every time I managed to get to the wheel, I could hear the faint sound of taps being played...probably from that goofy soldier at the beginning that sarcastically wishes me luck every time I have to restart....ahhhhhh2009-07-29 21:47:00

I like the Yellowhead costume as it's so different to Sackboy its a nice prize. I did ace the last level second time through, it's a very easy level once you know what the boss' moves are.

I thought Serpent Shrine and Bunker were hard to ace. I even got my friend to ace Bunker because I suck.

For the Bunker the best thing you can do is first play through level and check the hard bits and remember what happened. Then go have a drink maybe a biscuit or two come back and give it your best. And don't tense up, relax! It's easy!..well sort of.

I think LBP could of easily of been a easy game, it would of still been fun but the challenge would of never been there. This is probably why this game did so well. It appeals to both casual and hardcore gamers and is generally fun, I mean my Nan even could play it!

In my opinion, I personally thought The Bunker was the hardest simply because of The Hamster Wheel of Death as I call it. If it wasn't for that wheel, The Bunker would be too easy. The construction site was hard for me, I don't quite know why. I think I broke my controller from slamming it when I lost the 15th time. (seriously angry gamer here)

And so was The Bunker. It wasn't the wheel that was hard for me, it was getting to the wheel. If I could count how many times I died from those stupid little guys with the electric arms.... well, I'd have to use both fingers and toes.

Boom Town is fairly easy to ace, just go nice and slow when you're carrying the bombs with the jetpack.2009-09-25 15:18:00

I thought it would be impossible to ace: the bunker, dancers court, serpent shrine and the collector when I played the game through first time round but I did them all first time through . The only level I had a problem with was the construction site, I couldn't find a pattern at the boss fight, having said that I did it third time round. My friends were getting very jealous cos they couldn't ace any of them and I had to ace them for them, then they kept coming to my pod with a shiny neon helmet on and showing off so I wish I hadn't. 2009-09-26 15:40:00

Definitely "The Bunker" (not the community level). It took me over 10 tries to get throught it normally, just imagine the pain to ace it... yet, I'm a proud owner of the "Play" trophy.2009-10-25 17:34:00

The bunker was the hardest for me, but I also had trouble with the fire pits. But now I have the play trophy and all the costumes.2009-10-25 20:04:00
