Translate (song made by me)

Archive: 8 posts

This is a song i made this morning. It's chip-ish and has some Google Translator stuff mixed into it.

Download link (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wcc344pcuxbdquc)

Sorry for linking to MediaFire, but doing a youtube video would give quality loss. I'll try doing a video later on though.

Also, the file is an .OGG file since a wave one is too big and an MP3 also gives quality loss when exporting with Audacity.

Please say what you think of it!

Sweet! I love the progression, and the synths you're using are epic. What DAW are you using?2013-04-20 17:25:00

Err... what? I don't even know what a DAW is. Anyways, this is tracker music, just putting samples together and stuff. You're hearing the same thing with a different pitch, and "arpeggio" effects or something.

*searches DAW on wikipedia*

Oh.. just a technical name for "music program". Anyways, i just used OpenMPT for this or whatever it's name is.

Oh, you're using a tracker, gotcha. I tried to work with a tracker to make some NES music once, but the interface confused the living heck outta me and I eventually just switched to traditional music production (I work in FL Studio), so props to you for knowing how to use a tracker 2013-04-20 18:15:00

Yeah, well, i once played this game called Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (not playing it anymore since nowadays i realised how weird it was) and it used tracker music. So i decided to try and find out how it worked, and yeah, i made some terrible stuff. Then years later i realised "hey, i can use this to make music" so i tried again, downloaded some songs to get samples from and found how i could use the effects in there, and made some more music in three years and got better.

Tracker music is kinda simple though, you just go to samples, load a sample, make a pattern and just press buttons on your keyboard to put notes on there. The first highlightable err, block, shows what note it is, the second the sample you're using, the third the volume and things like that, and the last two are for effects. Doubleclicking the last two shows a menu with effects and stuff. You can just press a number/letter on your keyboard to change stuff on there, i kinda think this stuff is simple.

Huh, you do make it sound simple. I'll stick to my current guns though, I'm quite happy with FL 2013-04-20 18:24:00

I tried FL, then it stopped working because Security Essentials found a virus in it (torrents >.< ). As i said, i really think tracker music is simple, it's just pressing buttons on a keyboard and arranging sounds in patterns. That's just it.

That's true. But then again, if you ever want to publish your music for dinero, there's a lot of legal issues to deal with when it comes to samples, and those are a real pain in the butt. I plan on going down the publishing road some day, and, when taking that path, its much easier just to use your own sounds generated through synths. And yeah, torrent tends to = virus 2013-04-20 18:37:00
