Kato's Intro

Hello fellow Little Big Planetians. I go by Kato or Kato Regama

I'd like to first tell you a story about my experiences with Little Big Planet. Several years ago, around the time LBP 1 first came out, my roommate bought a copy for himself, and I would sometimes play it. Unfortunately, at the time, I always got past the Skulldozer level, and then stopped, and never made it through the Canyons, Metropolis, Islands, Temples, or Wilderness. I even went into create mode to diddle around, and after about an hour of diddling I told myself "there's no way I'll be able to do this."

Time passed, years in fact, seasons came and went, favorites changed, likes and dislikes wavered, then there was that fiasco with PSN. When they arranged their welcome back however, I noticed they were offering Little Big Planet as a gift. Now I know this may seem like I'm not a very good fan of LBP, to only take it when it's free, but hey it's the honest truth. And I honestly picked it up at the time only because it was the most appealing of the four offered. Once again I played through, and again I stopped at the Canyons, and decided to try out creator mode.

Boy did I get bitten. I got bitten hard. I started off with a few boxes, some winches, some fire, then I said to myself, "You know Kato.... I bet you could build a Kaiju, and base a level around it." And I did. I built the entire creature. Arms, legs, tail... It was only later that I realized a little tip of level creating, that you don't necessarily need to build the whole to get the effect of the parts.

So I built, and created, and complained that wobble bolts kept breaking, and was so incredibly proud when I made my first enemy creature, only to discover later they were completely harmless. The balloon just kept inflating and before long, once I'd finished my level, I had about half of all the DLC for LBP1.

So my next project got me to try my hand at one of those 'run away from the big monster' levels like the Skulldozer. It.... didn't work out. I could never get the monster to move properly. But it did get me to finish the full game all the way through the Collector, and begin taking part in the LBP community. I think my favorite levels are 'Distress in Ocean', and Dinosaur City. It's hard to choose really, but any level that involves being chases by a massive Spinosaurus or Shark, which I still have no idea how they pulled it off, deserves a trophy!

So after releasing my own levels, "Monster Attack, Monster Laboratory, Digital Disaster, Lava Land, and Ghost Train, I began work on my greatest ever; Yeti Quest. That was when I got LBP2. Yeti Quest's first half was all made in LBP 1, and then I went back and did some crazy edits to two of the mini-bosses, added bounce pads, attract-o-gel, and even a 'run-away from the big scary monster' segment that I'd been wanting to do since my first level.

With each level I try to improve my designs, with the hopes of someday getting an Mm Pick. I enjoy Playing, Creating, and Sharing with the whole community. So keep a watch out for my levels, and give them a try! I'm always working to improve, and include new and original concepts, plus of course epic boss fights.

So thanks for reading! Glad to be here.

Thanks for the welcomes!

I am definitely down for playing some community levels! I just find it amazing how many awesome/crazy ideas there are out there. There's just so much you can do with LBP. I'll be queuing up some levels tonight to try some neat things while I take a quick break in creating. I've been so focused on making levels for a story, I've let slide just playing levels for fun!

Totally want to try one I've just seen in the Showcase that's all carboard, but really craftily put together, and visually appealing.

OOooh I hate that crunch sound. >_<! I had it the worst making a LBP1 level called Ghost Train that turned into an utter travesty. This was before I knew save points could be activated by player sensors. I was running out of left/right room and in order to keep continuity I had to devise a way to get the player all the way from the right to the left. So I attached a save point to a wobble-bolted piece of metal, and had it swing allllll the way across the stage. It was a dark day in the Kato household.......

But thanks for the lovely welcome guys and gals!
