America attacked again.

Archive: 72 posts

Two explosions went off today at the Boston Marathon in Massachusetts. So far, three people are confirmed dead, many more injured.

Link to the story. (http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/04/15/explosions-near-finish-of-boston-marathon/?hpt=hp_t1)

Heres some really freaky explosion footage (http://bostonglobe.com/2013/04/15/gGfFH99UuwAcCjlSg5jE8M/story.html)... Just people screaming... It makes you think of what you see in movies, except it chills your skin when you know its real...

I hate crap like this. Though frankly, Ive wondered recently... With all the people that hate America, why doesnt stuff like this happen all the time? I mean Im extremely happy it doesn't, but still... I hope this doesnt give other terrorists ideas.

Suspicious guy on roof. (http://www.news.com.au/technology/man-on-roof-during-boston-marathon-explosion-gets-conspiracy-nuts-tweeting/story-e6frfro0-1226621437113)

No one has any clue what the motive was. No one knows if it's domestic or international terrorism, or if it's just some crazy ***hole. Let the police handle it. What matters is that there are people who need help right now.

Bizarre. The white smoke and lazy plume make it look like loosely packed gunpowder or something. There's hardly any collateral damage either.

Seems more likely to be a lone person given the small size of the devices.

I have many words to say about the sick man who did this, but the censor wont allow them, so Ill leave it at this: this dude deserves to rot in hell. I cant imagine the families of the victims... Why are there such friggen twisted people? The batman shooting, the Sandy Hook incident, and now this? What motives couldt possibly lead somebody to murder innocent people? That somebody could do this just sickens me. RIP to all of the victims of this tragedy.2013-04-16 01:38:00

It's news like this that makes me afraid that, someday, humanity will only know one form of communicating: aggression. I also worry for my friends in the US, and also that stuff like this encourages more people to do the same everywhere. Here in Brazil we even had a school shootout not long ago!2013-04-16 03:05:00

I'm sure the bomber wouldn't be stupid enough to be on a roof at the time of the explosion. Then he has no way of getting away. Whoever did this was probably long gone by then.

Evidence of shrapnel has been located at the crime scene, I believe. Ball bearings too, like Bonner mentioned.

Apparently there was a Sandy Hook survivors group in a VIP area near the finish line. Perhaps they were the target? The banners along the route say "26 miles for 26 victims".

I thought the white smoke and diffuse nature of the explosion in the video was weird. If the bombs used powder from munitions anti-gun lobbyists couldn't have asked for anything more.

Heard a doctor say they're dealing with a lot of shrapnel wounds to lower extremities, it seems likely the devices were left on the ground or in bins.

Another witness said there was a strong smell of cordite after the explosions that he was familiar with during his time in the military.

He had been critically wounded. Maybe he decided he didn't want to live anymore but didn't have the guts to kill himself... so he just hid inside that boat and hoped he'd bleed out before someone found him.

True. These things were happening in the world, long before 9/11.

Europe is no stranger to this. And the middle east too. And in the US there was the bombing of the world trade center in 93, and the Oklahoma City bombing of a federal building in 95 for example.

Violence in LBP is nothing more than sackboys catching fire or wooden puppets breaking and spraying red paint all over the place. It's nothing compared to the violence you see in +18, +16 or even +12 games.

I'm actually tired of people trying to attack America. I know what direction we are heading towards (I wouldn't even go there), but it doesn't mean they can go ahead and commit these heinous crimes.

I also heard that the brother who was caught recently had children, and he's one year younger than me.

Since 9/11, I am surprised things like this don't happen more often.

Think of all the huge sporting events, Super Bowls, concerts, where there are thousands of people crammed into a small space.

On second thought, don't think about it. It might keep you up at nights. It does me sometimes.

Hijackings were common http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_hijackings
Plane bombings were quite common http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_airliner_bombing_attacks

Hijacking a plane and flying it into a building isn't too common but had been previously attempted.

No, they don't get a free pass. If you see them please report them so we can tidy up the mess. We depend on others to help us find those things as we cannot possibly read and see everything.

Now.. back on topic. Glad they caught the guy alive so he can be tried and brought to justice.

However as far as questioning him to find out his reasons? Personally I don't really care what his reasoning is. I know it may sound weird, but I don't think it matters... I don't think by doing this he should get free publicity to the world on his "message". When someone decides it is ok to plop some bombs out in a public place to play a secret lottery of who gets killed or maimed vs who survives with totally innocent people, then you have totally lost any rational bits of sanity. There is no reason... just ramblings of hate and violence. In my opinion, they lost their right to getting heard for any "reason" to have done this. ...there is no good reason.

Like back when Manson and his "family" did their horrific crimes way back when.. I don't think anyone cared "why". It's true we later learned what his silly plan was, but nobody really cared. He was simply a lunatic and needed to be brought to justice.

my two cents.

Sorry, I was just on my soapbox and speaking about their "reasons". lol It would be important to get any information to round up any buddies. Like if they had other weapons or bombs hidden. I was just speaking to the "why"... not the other important information.

My nephew ran that race, and luckily finished the race and was out of the area before the bombs were detonated. And I don't care why these guys did this. I don't think we should ever publish what the reasons are. We just need to publish what he did to all the people he killed and hurt, and how their actions affects the people who loves the victims. We shouldn't even publish the names of these kinds of perpetrators. We should just number them or mock them. "Perpetrator #23 aka "panty boy", "scum bag boy", etc. I've also had it with people who sympathize with these scum bags. I'd actually like to know the reasoning behind the attack, and hope it's more than just what one of the brothers told a photographer in 2009 - he didn't understand Americans, nor did he have a single American friend. You'd have to be a sociopath of the highest degree to kill people you "don't understand".2013-04-22 14:05:00

Looks like you got your wish. Dzhokhar has a gunshot wound to the larynx leaving him unable to speak.

I agree that the circumstances surrounding this case are far more pertinent than any personal motive the brothers had. It doesn't look like anyone comes out of this smelling of roses, though.

So far eyewitness reports contradict the state police that Dzhokhar ran over his brother or that he shot himself in the neck. Thankfully we're also getting video of these incidents and others that took place from local residents.

Interestingly it appears there has been some fumbling between the US and Russian secret services with Tamerlan. He was brought in by the FBI after Russian authorities said they suspected him of involvement in a Salafi jihadist cell in the Caucasian region (presumably in his homeland of Chechnya). He was let off without being placed on a watchlist and subsequently made flights to Russia. He was patently a mole for the FBI or CIA. Maybe his brother was given that scholarship at a top college to keep Tamerlan on side.

More interestingly the Saudi national initially detained in hospital has now had his student visa revoked and been deported on grounds of terrorism. Two others from the same family and who shared accommodation with him in Revere MA are unaccounted for, with a plane being grounded at Logan International Airport in their search.

A number of Saudi families and institutions give financial backing to Salafi schools and mosques in the Caucasuses to disseminate their state religion. Pretty embarrassing for Saudi Arabia. The president had an impromptu meeting with a Saudi foreign minister on the 17th, presumably to reassure them no charges will be brought against one of their citizens.

What I don't understand is why the brothers (and their potential accomplices) would use black powder bombs at a Sandy Hook memorial marathon, which is clearly an anti-gun political attack, if they were jihadists. Those two world views don't exactly dovetail. The Boston bomb squad had units at either end of the marathon loudly announcing they were doing a drill before the race so it's obvious enough the feds had a heavy hand in this.

You know very well that was not my "wish". If I wished anything it would be that no one was ever hurt, maimed or killed, including that 8 year old boy.

I do find the rest of your post interesting. If the govt was messing around with these guys, they blew it and have a lot of explaining to do. Care to share your sources?

However, I am not so sure how you make the jump that it was an anti-gun political attack. They had bombs and guns. They used both. I don't see how Sandy Hook had anything to do with it.

The marathon has been running since 1897 having a memorial added to this years probably had very little influence on their actions.

I don't see how Sandy Hook had anything to do with it. I do. The gun debate. Its always the gun debate. and its gonna get worse now

How is it the gun debate? ...and how it is always the gun debate?

9/11 wasn't the gun debate. The other failed bombings in the past several years didn't have anything to do with gun control. Just not sure how you make that connection?

I do find the rest of your post interesting. If the govt was messing around with these guys, they blew it and have a lot of explaining to do. Care to share your sources?
It was on the front page of CNN yesterday.

However, I am not so sure how you make the jump that it was an anti-gun political attack. They had bombs and guns. They used both. I don't see how Sandy Hook had anything to do with it.

The marathon has been running since 1897 having a memorial added to this years probably had very little influence on their actions.
Name a more fitting target for black powder bombs than the Sandy Hook victims' families on the other side of the road.

Whether sales of ammunition should be limited was being discussed only weeks before. Black powder is used in ammunition and you can buy it separately to make your own. I guess it wasn't obvious enough, they should have just used AR-15s.

We should just number them or mock them. "Perpetrator #23 aka "panty boy", "scum bag boy", etc.

Well.. I will never pretend to understand the mind of insanity such as terrorists.

However it seems the black powder for at least one of the bombs came from fireworks. The same store that the Times Square bomber got black powder for his failed attempt. Interesting that even though black powder was used, in that case it was in retaliation for drone attacks in Afghanistan. Even more interesting is that just recently the surviving suspect for the Boston bombings has said their motive was done in response to post 9/11 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

However as far as questioning him to find out his reasons? Personally I don't really care what his reasoning is. I know it may sound weird, but I don't think it matters...
Like you and a few others said on the previous page their personal motives don't really matter. That doesn't bring any clarity to the situation. Everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do.
