Player Sensor issue.
Archive: 12 posts
Today i was busily logic creating away when later i reaslised my auto cars would not pass a normal car when a sackperson is inside . Here's a pic on what i mean by Auto car and Normal car: http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/600b63cf4632d5f354b2f6c89461f78ee755d670.jpg Auto cars Drive themselves meaning no sackperson is present. Have the ability to change layeres Important info: Stop when close to other normal or auto cars and also stop when a player is infront of the car. Normal car Driven by a player. Fuel system. Much more. Automatic: drives themselves Normal (manual): Reqhires a player to drive them. Please note all information here is just so you understand what im talking about. My help reqhest: This is hard to explain so i will use examples throughout... My Auto cars will not pass a Normal car with a player present even when the car is in a different layer to the Auto car ( Picture A.).It appears that the Auto cars player sensor activates when close to the player driving the car itself even though the player is in the opposing layer. When not in the Normal car the Auto car continues on its journey. Im really confused? i can't remember this occuring a while back. I have also tried putting the player sensor on a peice of hologram then glueing it to the car(Picture B.) . It seems that the player sensor is convinced that i am in the layer it should be in to activate, which im not.The main issue is why is the player sensor convinced im in the layer when im not, just because im sitting in a controlinator? Picture A. http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/8707db76a0c8bae54f5e0e10f06491561c579d10.jpg Picture B. http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/a206df7066a506192c5c9321eaef0d37f13e30ea.jpg Could anybody help? If you need any more information Please ask... | 2013-04-13 22:56:00 Author: Spaceraoul28 Posts: 175 |
Lazy solution: stop using player sensors glue a hologram or sticker panel to the front of the car, and use an impact sensor to stop the car whenever a player impacts the sticker panel/hologram. Then you won't have to worry about activating in the wrong layers and stuff... | 2013-04-13 23:37:00 Author: dragonboy269 Posts: 172 |
Hmmmmm.... Im not to sure but if the worse comes to the worse i'll use it. There must be a soulution to this problem. | 2013-04-14 13:16:00 Author: Spaceraoul28 Posts: 175 |
Better suggestion and even lazier - swap Player Sensors for Tag Sensors and Tags and see if the issue persists. Give AI and Player vehicles Tags to identify what control scheme they're using, then just use a Tag Sensor exactly as you wanted to use Player Sensors. | 2013-04-14 13:23:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |

Give AI and Player vehicles Tags to identify what control scheme they're using, then just use a Tag Sensor exactly as you wanted to use Player Sensors. I understand that, However the player sensor acts as a signal to tell the car to stop if there is a player in front or obstructing the path. The current tag sensors im using only prevent the cars colliding with each other and anything else with a Blue tag. The problem is the player sensor is convinced im in its layer when im not (Picture A.), im now considering if its the position of the controlinator that is causing the problem. On close inspection of the cars bonnet you will notice the player tag in Picture A you may also notice myself sitting in the car on the right the car on the left will not pass dispite the fact im the front layer not the middle. Sorry if i have run over old ground, i am finding this hard to explain. Thanks again for the help... | 2013-04-15 21:38:00 Author: Spaceraoul28 Posts: 175 |
The player sensor should sense same layer only. They won't pass at all, even if in front or behind, if you don't do this. | 2013-04-15 22:41:00 Author: L1N3R1D3R Posts: 13447 |

I know this might sound silly, but I've found that sensors which sense in same layer will occasionally malfunction when placed on the top of the material (like yours) instead of when they're placed on the front of it. Maybe try moving the player sensor to the front face of the material? If that doesn't work then I don't know either. | 2013-04-18 00:19:00 Author: theIronHorse Posts: 279 |

rawr. No, not that front I mean the face where that that itsy-bitsy tag sensor is plopped onto :3 | 2013-04-21 06:00:00 Author: theIronHorse Posts: 279 |
rawr. No, not that front I mean the face where that that itsy-bitsy tag sensor is plopped onto :3 Already tried that, doasn't work. I think i may just go with this soulution it might be better for the future anyways. http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/151a5018b4916454f450235f46eca8a909a8a93a.jpg | 2013-04-21 12:36:00 Author: Spaceraoul28 Posts: 175 |
Here's what I would do in your situation. For the normal cars I would put a tag on them, then on the auto cars I would have the player sensor and the tag sensor (which senses the tag on the normal car) connected to an 'and' gate. The output of the and gate basically translates to "If I see a sack person in a car, then I will change layer and pass the car." If you want to make the car stop when it sees a sackboy then you just hook up the player sensor to the cars breaks (or whatever makes it stop). This means you wouldn't need the collision cone in front of the car. If you want me to go into more detail I can make some pictures or you could invite me in LBP sometime. Hope this helped =) | 2013-06-08 02:56:00 Author: BLAHBLAH1000 Posts: 72 |
