Awesome!!!

This is the first LBP level I've played, which really was scary!!!
That's for sure a horror trip. I'm glad I played it with a mate and not alone
Well done!

Excellent level!

I got to view this one. The SFX were really special. I like the part with the Dude running through the collapsing wood-plank area the most. It seemed more movie than level, since there really wasn't much gaming to be had aside from occasionally moving locations. I'm not sure if I needed to though, since things were happening on their own.2013-04-22 19:17:00

Okay, this is going to be a bit different from my usual reviews. Why? Because it's completely something I did not expect: it's a film, not really a level. I have no reviewing system for films, so I have to improvise a bit here. Also, as it's supposed to be scary, which no LBP-level has ever done successfully, I have to answer the question if it is scary or not and whether or not it was actually good.

First, the very beginning here was gritty. I mean, very gritty. It was the grittiest piece of grit I have ever experienced in LBP. Grit. I didn't really see the point. Maybe you wanted the people to be scared, but it didn't work, well, not for me anyway. I did find it disturbing, though.

Now is the film scary? To put it bluntly, no. It's a walk in a park. Not even one with a graveyard next to it. The thing I think is wrong here is the same thing that's wrong with everyone else trying to create horror in LBP and that's that people who try to create horror in LBP often mistake horror with disturbance and grit, like blood and hanging sackgirls. Now there was one part here that scared me a bit. That's when the sackboy was down in that very small hole and the shade appeared twice. That wasn't scary, but the third time when the shade almost assaulted the screen was relatively scary.

Now that that's over with, let me tell you what else is wrong here: the story. I understand it, you are looking from a perspective of a madman, but it doesn't work, for me at least. What's with the strange markings all the time, why is the wife haunting him, WHY IS THE PERSON MAD? Because I can tell, though not from personal experience, that losing your wife, even your whole family doesn't turn you into a madman who sees ghosts and unexplainable markings on the walls. Also, the ending... What exactly happened?

The visuals were good, I mean very good, mostly, but every absolutely gorgeous visual effect, like the shade, was used to death here, so it wasn't cool anymore. The soundtrack was... Well, mostly there just as a bunch of voice-effects. However, one thing I did like here: the voice-acting. Even though the voice-actor, whoever he was, needs some more practice. The sound was pretty clear and I only needed to turn the volume up just a little bit to hear what he was actually saying. It was well executed, but... not so well performed, though it still was pretty solid job.

If I was to give this a rating, I'd give it something like 5/10. However, I won't, because I don't usually rate films. However you should know, that these are only my personal opinions and things that I feel are wrong. Certainly there are people who feel other way about this.
