Thanks!

Archive: 24 posts

We have a new feature called "Thank This". Essentially, if you like a post someone has made, click "Thank This". It will give them a nice xp boost along with a rep boost, and there's a small list under such posts so you can see how many people liked it. Like I said, this integrates into both rep and LittleBigExperience, so use of the system promotes both. Just click "Thank This"!

If you have any complaints/concerns (maybe you think the button is in a bad place), voice them here.

Well, nice to see that you caved in to all the complaints. /viewing with glass half empty

Anyway, the title is kinda odd... It seemed like you were thanking us for a second for maybe being a god community, but yeah :/.

I'm not too sure I see the difference between this and rep though.

It integrates into both LittleBigExperience and rep, it promotes a more friendly atmosphere (you can still negative rep, but the "Thank This" option is more prominent), and we can actively change how much xp or rep you earn per thank, so if you guys see an issue, we can quickly resolve it.

i agree that it is very neat and will work out good but just got get all the sour lemons in the bunce to like it as well so it wont get removed, i also like that it helps out with rep as well as littlebigexperience too, great job to CC and anyone else who helped with this idea......2009-01-24 02:55:00

Well, instead of seeing rep now we see thanks. :. Only difference I see hehe. Anyway I kind of like this. I don't see it on many forums and even when I did I still didn't really like it but I'm sure we will all get used to all the fun changes.

PS. The best thing about this site is that every time I wake up something new is happening.

EDIT:
Wow, this happened roughly 1 minute after I woke up o_O. HAHA! Funny eh? My concerns are that it will give too much EXP and the economy will crash from inflation and even when you have lowered the exp from thanks and maybe even posting and other things the inflation will stlll have to remain for a bit while all the EXP is cleared out... That or it wont take off.

I'm sorry but.. who care's about the economy of a forum? Isn't it about the ideas and discussions? X_X

Either way, this seems a lot like rep., except now we get exp. and it's not anonymous.

Will rep. we already have be transfered to this system? :kz:

The XP idea is unlikely, as the setting isn't high enough to see any large effect. If you are frequently helpful, then you'll notice the extra xp. And if it doesn't take off, we'll get rid of it. It all depends on reception.

Also, please don't use this to try to boost your rep and xp with others. I don't want to have to remove the whole system because people are abusing it. We have a precaution in place to discourage it (25 thanks per day per user), but we don't want to have to limit it because of abuse.

It adds rep to your existing reputation, not the other way around. So yes, it will.

No I mean like.. for example in my thread for the plasma doors, I received 7-8 positive reps and 1-2 neutrals.. will it change to "Thanked 10 times in 1 post"?2009-01-24 03:08:00

No, it doesn't. It's really separate systems, but the "Thanks" system is more for recognizing a useful post. It will be used more often, essentially. It integrates better into the forum as well.

And...*sighs*, I guess we'll bring back rep. One condition: you cannot, from now on, purchase the ability to see who repped you. At all. Hopefully that stems some of the abuse.

I like the addition However, is it possible to put a confirmation on the thanks button? I used it just then on your post (genuinely thanking you ) and it does it straight away. Which makes me wonder, what if someone accidentally clicks that instead of 'quote it'?

So either... could there be a confirmation button? Or could it be moved? To say - the postbit near REP.

cheers.

EDIT: Ah - i see you can remove your thanks. this sort of solves the problem i suppose lol.

Agreed. And perhaps even a little comment or something? But meh, that's kinda like rep >.>

I don't think the comment is necessary, as the post will speak for itself as to why it was thanked

Looks good to me, I think this is a nice way to show who are the more helpful members of the forums.

Also if I was to thank you, then remove my thanks, then thank you again - do you get 2 sets of rewards (If you get what I mean)

That would be abuse, and I don't think Thanks works that way. CC might be able to clarify.

No, the system can't be tricked like that. It's smart.
