Good question, I was asking myself the same thing. Altough i did see some difference when working with thin layers. It slightly moves to the front/back. Try it out, you will see it urself. Regards, Jeroen | 2013-04-11 11:55:00 Author: Mokum_GTT Posts: 34 |
when you defysicalise objects you can place two pieces of material in the same layer. With position in layer you can put one object in front of another, without changing the layer it is in. Oh, and It's not a stupid question at all, it isn't explained in the tutorial. I also tried many times before I finally found out what it was used for. And Stupid questions don't excist. | 2013-04-11 17:04:00 Author: wolfbrother117 Posts: 150 |
It's used for aesthetics, so if you had two materials merged together you can choose which material is shown on top of the other and you can create some interesting stuff with materials that have beveled edges. Adjusting the position layer doesn't affect gameplay at all it's just for visuals. Hope that helps | 2013-04-11 17:12:00 Author: OriginalCreator Posts: 217 |
It is also very useful when you have two pieces of sticker material with stickers applied that overlap in the same layer. The "Position In Layer" option allows the user to specify which sticker is displayed in front. It works by varying the thickness of the material very slightly so that the rendering engine knows which one to display in front of the other. LBP2 did this automatically, but LBP vita gives the user to control over it. | 2013-04-13 12:16:00 Author: fluxlasers Posts: 182 |
