The Key is Punctuality (http://lbp.me/v/jyb66c)

This is my entry for the LBPC10 about time travel - one player only. It is a puzzle-game platformer where you have to save the inhabitants of a city that will be submerged by water at the end of the day.
Except you can go back and forth in time, waiting and rewinding to the precise moment you need to be.

This is a hard level, though because of the deadline for the contest I had to scrap about 10-12 steps to the final product I intended (which would have make it much harder, in fact). You have to keep track of any action you do, of the consequences they have, and at what time you did it because if you revert time too much, you can undo some of your own actions. Which can also be useful. Or not.

The main objective is to escape with as many sackbots as possible at the end of the day. As a secondary objective, you can try to catch the villain who broke the dam and doomed the city. Two different endings possible. For those who can get 1000 points, the main character is offered as a reward (with all its logic included).

I tried to mix up two games about time that I absolutely recommend: "I have 1 day" and "400 years", that are two flash games you could find easily anywhere. Even if my level doesn't match their quality, I totally recommend to play them.

Wow!
This is a very smart level.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish it, but I will definitely try it again.
It startes with a catching little cutscene, the town is very good looking and I love the funny comments of the main character.
Here we have a great and clever level which is highly recommendable.

Excellent!

Thank you for the nice comments!

Now that we can update our levels, I made some small changes that will make the level easier, like camera cuts to events when triggered, a spyglass to check the arrival of the rescue gondola, and other minor improvements that I probably will be the only one to spot... There is still a lot of work of my part to get the level I really intended to do, but it's already better than before.

Oh wow, this level is really difficult-I couldn't finish it. I love it though, the idea is so great and the atmosphere was cool. However, if you die, there's a chance time travel stops working. It's the 9:00 checkpoint that causes this, I think.2013-04-15 23:04:00

This is probably my favourite entry in the contest. Brilliant concept, great execution. It is also radically different and much smarter than any other contest levels I've played thus far. Phenomenal work, and I hope the judges appreciate this. You absolutely nailed the time travel concept in a way no other level comes close to, and it'd be a shame if this loses because of its difficulty.2013-04-15 23:39:00

Hmm, good thing to know that. It happened to me once while making the level, and couldn't reproduce the bug after. It is really annoying, I'll check my logic near... well, there is logic everywhere, so it can take a certain amount of time.

Edit: I double checked my logic and couldn't find any difference with the other checkpoints, though I am pretty sure it has something to do with the rewinder when you die and the checkpoint is under water. I reduced the strenght of the rewinder so if it happens, a short burst of "waiting" should re-launch the timeline. Theorically.

@bonner123:
Thank you very much! At first, I wanted to do a "warp-to-another-zone" level, then it occured to me that everybody would do the same thing...
Having played all the levels of the contest myself, I found 2-3 contestants that are far above me technically. I am confident in my originality, but it would be somewhat ironic if I win this contest with a level no one can finish...

I'm sorry to "bumping" my own thread, but after having another Honorable Mention in the Community Spotlight of this month (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/content.php?383-Community-Spotlight-Episode-110), and after seeing that no player reached the end (besides me), I had to check again my logic...

I reduced the strenght of the rewinder so if it happens, a short burst of "waiting" should re-launch the timeline.
I finally found how to reproduce the 9:00 bug (it's almost impossible to spot it in Create mode while it happens one out of three times in Play mode). So I augmented the strenght of the "waiting" ability, and it definitively works now. And by definitively, I mean until the next bug. I think. I hope. Well, try it if you haven't yet.

Version 1.3: mostly bug fixes. Added instructions for the upper city bridge. Repaired animation for the spyglass. Added R1 markers next to grabbable objects in case it wasn"t clear enough. Waiting ability at 80%. Nobody really reads that anyways.
