Dream/Nightmare Sequence

Alright so I'm pretty stumped for level ideas... and I pretty good at making random crap up.. so what better theme for a level than a dream!

I've been playing with the idea of floaty platforming (bunch of floaty not attached to anything) and it's do able, 'cept it requires fast jumping (quick tap not those long holds).

So it'd begin with some message like "...and then you drift off to sleep." as you get shot out of nowhere through a bunch of floaty...

[insert platforming and puzzle or two]

then maybe at the end, the floating starts getting darker, till it turns completely black and some evil monster you've drempt up wants to fight.

[you save the day.. insert heroic dream sequence]

The End.

Seems like a good idea, except the fact that if the player is slow, they would basically ruin the level, unless you have it so the pink floaty is being emitted, after the emitter is activated, which would be when the player jumps on the floaty platform.2009-01-24 00:10:00

Ya of course, all the floating platforms would be emitted seeing as if they mess up and they weren't being emitted, they wouldn't be able to finish.

You could also use the day/night method to get it to go from a dream to a nightmare, if that ever came across your mind.2009-01-24 00:21:00

Just noticed as well, I think you can fix it, from the original post or something, meh it doesn't matter.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I've got a dream sequence level I'm working on also, though I've decided to halt work on it until they release that day/night switch.

I'm a perfectionist, and reinhart's method is less than satisfactory for what I need, though for many applications it could work well.
