We're back with a new GC interview. This one marks our 10th!
So settle in, and enjoy

Introducing L1N3R1D3R

Creator Name: Jacob
Creator Age: 18
Region: United States
PSN: L1N3R1D3R (http://lbp.me/u/L1N3R1D3R)
Twitter: N/A
Published Levels:
LBP1: 0
LBP2: 7
LBPV: 1
LBPK: 1

What is your first LBP Memory?

I had recently gotten a different game where you could create your own games, and I thought that was the best creating game ever. That year (2010), we had ordered the PS3 and LBP1. Boy, was I wrong! I actually like the piquant art style of The Gardens, but I do agree a 5-year-old could have made it. I instantly went to create mode, and my jaw dropped as I entered.

What was it that first hooked you about LBP?

The art that you could create, create mode, and that you could actually make levels that are story mode-quality unlike previous creating games.

Can you tell us about the first level you ever made, and what was it like?

I had absolutely no sense of art or layer usage back then. I had a lot of gameplay ideas that I wanted to publish for the world to see, but unfortunately, due to it being made of only basic materials taking up 3 layers, not many people appreciated it. It was called "All Around Town", and I now give it a 0/10.

How have you improved as a creator since then?

I greatly improved on art style and layer usage when I actually studied much more popular platform levels, and that's how I got to be where I am now!

What is your best moment in LBP?

Getting both an LBPCentral and LittleBigNetwork pick on my first fast-paced platformer "Rusty Racing", which is the reason for its higher-than-my-other-levels play count.

Second place would be July 1 2012, when I was invited into the LBPKarting beta. I was stunned on how they integrated 3D, but at that time I didn't R2 was the Pave Path button. I thought it was X, the auto-finish button. Dx

If you could change one thing about LBP what would it be?

Add all the LBPVita tools that don't have to do with touch.

What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses as a creator?
-Strengths - gameplay, art style, decent logic, layer usage, platformers
-Weaknesses - complex logic, original story, anything but platformers

If you could improve one aspect of your creating what would it be?

Create more than platforming. I've tried, but I failed, and I'd rather consistently publish great levels of the same kind than publish bad levels of different kinds.

What are your influences and inspirations?

Art class and popular creators' levels.

What does the Ghost Creators mean to you?

It means a lot. Trust me, I tried a lot to get my levels out there, and most of them don't have the play count I hope for. With this, I am one step closer to doing that.

Tell us about some of your levels?

"Futile Factory" [1P recommended] (http://lbp.me/v/bj6tfj)

My fourth level, and for this, I decided to go into an outdoor factory theme, like a Factory of a Better Tomorrow but more blue (as in the color ). This one has no real story, but I made gameplay, art style, and layer usage work fluently as best as I could.

I've had some real heartwarming reviews including:

lol i remember watching this on lbp 2-torials, its an exact remake but extended! nice work!

Great job with nicely done visuals and gameplay. I liked how you followed the player with the checkpoint. Very fun to play. Great job.

Congratulations L1N3R1D3R! Your level has been given an honorable mention in Episode 89 of lbpcentral.com's Community Spotlight - Hubbie

"Rusty Racing" [1P only] (http://lbp.me/v/c6xsj0)

Whoo, a fast-paced platformer! And whoo, over 2,000 plays! I went for an indoor, broken, old style factory here, with some very hectic gameplay. Probably the only place I didn't do up to my potential is when I added Attract-O-Gel. Now I know it doesn't fit in a fast-paced platformer.

Reviews:

[Bounce Pads] [Challenging] [Intricate] [Platformer] [Racer]
This is a very cool fast platformer. Some areas were a bit too hard, not too terrible but for me they sort of disrupted the nice flow that the rest of the level had. Still, I enjoyed this, good job

Great job. I couldn't figure out why there were so many spikes that desired to impale me but i loved it.

Finished product is excellent. Definately deserving of a heart and an MM pick. Thank you for the mention in the credits.

"L1N3's Level Hub" (http://lbp.me/v/jnedqv)

Not much to say here, but it does use wormholes without teleportation, which I talk about here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=78817-How-to-Use-Wormholes-Without-Teleportation).

Reviews:

Great hub, nice lay-out, but what is the point of only putting your levels in it? We're faster by just playing them directly from your earth.

I agree with BugsFunny on this one, but its still a good hub.

Picture taken by me this time.

Can you list some of the creators you admire.

Lockstitch (http://lbp.me/u/Lockstitch)

His level design is amazing, his artwork is stunning, and, best of all, he works for Tarsier Studios, the company who made LBPVita possible.

Festerd_Jester (http://lbp.me/u/Festerd_Jester)

Level design and scenery may not be his strong point, but he makes up for that with his musical ability. Festerd makes a lots of music, all of it amazing, intense, and perfect for the kinds of levels I am making now.

TheAdipose (http://lbp.me/u/TheAdipose)

His tutorials on YouTube are fantastic, especially the LBPKarting ones. He's actually the person who got me back into that game. He also added me on PSN, so that boosted up his respect points from me.

What are the levels you admire?

Easter Farm (Platformer) (http://lbp.me/v/jmys13) by Xx-Chris-59-xX (http://lbp.me/u/Xx-Chris-59-xX)

Not your typical Easter platformer. Actually something different toward this holiday! My review:

[Artistic] [Easy] [Platformer]
Perfect difficulty, perfect length, perfect indoor Easter feel, and perfect gameplay. Finally an Easter level that isn't the exact same as all the others! 5/5

"Oranges, Ninjas, and a lovely Girl" (http://lbp.me/v/hzq9b1) by JplusK (http://lbp.me/u/JplusK)

Oh my, where do I even begin here? Amazing art style, gameplay, and amusing story! Sadly, my review does not exist.

"Bomb Voyage" (http://lbp.me/v/f60352) by KomodoBrothers (http://lbp.me/u/KomodoBrothers)

Another cartoony level, a remade bomb survival, and one of the only versus levels I love! Not only can you survive a rain of bombs in creative ways, but if you hurry, you can be the one to explode your friends! I have no review in this one, either.

Do you own a copy of LBPV?. If so, how does creating differ from LBP2 and LBPV?

I do. LBPVita feels a bit more restrained in a good way (as in not empty), and all the new tools make creating full on remakes possible.

Out of all the new tools that LBPV has to offer, what is it that most excites you?

I'll have to go with the obvious everyone-knows-about-it feature of touch and tilt.

What are your future plans and projects?

I am mainly working on a new LBP2 level, with Vita as second priority and Karting as 3rd.

LBP2: Inspired by the artstyle of Lockstitch's "Remnant: Ignotus", it will be a semi-fast paced platformer for any number of players featuring wormholes.
LBPV: Inside a forest, you will learn the ways of the rolling barrels, which ones to hop into and which ones to avoid, as well as how to control the former.
LBPK: An eerie swamp isn't the best place for a race to occur, but I haven't seen many spooky levels, which is why I'm making this. I also have a really cool shortcut here.

Finally,Give us 3 tags which best describe you as a creator.

Another great interview. Thanks to everyone involved. I know I say it every time but it really is nice to get to know some of the Ghost creators better, what makes them tick as a creator and how they got started etc. The LBP equivalent of putting a face to the name...kinda!

I enjoyed Rusty Racing - I'll replay that and check out your hub.
