Something I just have to say

Archive: 28 posts

I know this will get me banned or silenced or something, but it's something I have to say. I have a great idea on how to make the site better. The mods stop acting like jack ***** and more like mods. Not saying all the mods are bad, but come on, you guys took all that criticism on the new changes to the site and called it whining. You told everyone "stop whining!" but come on, is this site for the people here or JUST the mods? You really are starting **** some members off and even though you don't need us and you get new members everyday, that doesn't mean you shouldn't care about your members opinions.
And if you're going to ban me for this, that won't make me wrong and you right, and I don't think I did anything wrong in this post. I just said what a lot of other people want to say right now.

Well, I'm not on the staff but I have been around the block a time or two. I don't think that calling the mods "jackasses" is classified as good behavior.

Here's a tip: There's a right way and wrong way to give feedback. Insulting others, no matter if they are staff or regular members, is definitely not the right way to go about getting your opinion heard... let alone, respected at the same time.

You can calmly present your views on things and get things done. That's the best way to go about it. If I see someone say "jack *****" or "ur dumb" in their post, I tend to not have much regard to what they're saying as anything that actually matters.

The opinions of the members do matter. Your opinion, in the way you've presented it, does not.

Of course, that's just what I think and maybe the staff here do like to be insulted in regular conversation but, I'm assuming they don't.

TL;DR version: Calm down, kid. You're making your case you've brought up, even weaker.

Excuse me?

Firstly, the mods don't act like "Jack ...... ", we just do our job, which is to keep the forum clean, and tidy.

We called the criticism whining, because it is whining! Complaining won't do anything. If you were to actually put together a decent well written suggestion to how we could've managed this another way, then we'd respond to that with a proper reply, and see where it took us.

But simply writing OMG MY NAME LOOKS CRAP IN BLACK, and moaning about it all, doesn't help anyone.

Secondly, sorry if we're starting to wind you up, but this isn't just yourforum you know? We have to keep it tidy for other members too. Just because a group of you decide to complain about a few minor changes, which made you seem "superior" to other members, doesn't mean you have to give off a bad atmosphere to everyone else.

Thirdly, try not to break any rules when you're trying to make a point. Swearing and insulting us isn't really the best way to get a point across.

I haven't been around long enough to have an opinion on this matter.... and havent had any problems since I joined the community.... but I believe he is just using another way to call them stubborn... you know the whole stubborn as a mule. Probably doesnt make it good behavior still heh...couldve said it another way....but thats what I got out of it.

the mods have been disrespectful maybe not in the original thread but in other places this has been discussed. it's the disrespect not the changes that mostly annoys me.

First of all, Awesomemans has been unbanned. We keep this forum very open, and I don't want anyone assuming Awesomemans was banned for negative feedback. We want feedback, negative or not. Even if it reflects poorly on the staff, we still want to know about it. However, if you have a problem with the staff in any way, be civil. Do not attempt to start an argument or be rude, as we will be much less willing to address your concerns (and, in this case, annoyed to the point of a split-second decision). I will be happy to sift through and address the points made by Awesomemans:

Not saying all the mods are bad, but come on, you guys took all that criticism on the new changes to the site and called it whining. In this case, I am interested. Would you mind directing me to a post made by site staff that ridiculed your feedback and described it as "whining"?

...and even though you don't need us and you get new members everyday, that doesn't mean you shouldn't care about your members opinions. I disagree here. We do care about our member's opinions; so much so that we have an entire forum dedicated to voicing it. We keep new update threads open so everyone has a chance to voice their opinion, and we make changes based on those opinions very frequently. I think you are frustrated that, for once, we are not bending or changing anything based on the opinion of the members. We have very good reasons for these changes, and we have already seen the positive effects. We are not going to revert to the way we were.

...and I don't think I did anything wrong in this post..
Well, you did. You insulted the entire staff and you didn't even attempt to provide examples or evidence of your complaints. We never ban because we don't like hearing what you have to say (if anyone believes that, I think we've failed), but when you say it rudely and you don't even provide something for us to base our decisions on, we can't do much about it.

This thread has been re-opened, but please keep discussion civil. Anything rude and we'll lock it up again.

Ya I was just about to post... what probably set him off is a case in which i feel some members opinions were shut down very obruptly and told they were wrong no room to even voice their opinion. I feel it was done in a very rude and disrespectful manner.

Which is sad because I thought we were all getting along fine and we all deserve equal respect and there are other ways of telling people you disagree with them or to get people to stop without doing so in a disrespecting or mean fashion.

Actually, DrunkMiffy didn't want to "shut down" anyones voice, he just wrote his post wrong, he stated " This Discussion Ends Here"

What he meant was that the discussion should not be talked about anymore, in the Spam Can. Which is why he made the feedback thread, it was just misunderstood.

Ah, well that is whining. No offense, but don't expect us to take you seriously IF YOU ARE TYPING YOUR OPINION LIKE THIS.

In any case, it should have been discussed in Feedback, and it should have been posted in a manner that described their unhappiness. Posting where nobody who can change it will hear you is essentially whining.

Well, I hear you, and I did post my two cents on the whole conversation, but when someone tries to voice their opinion, and they get banned, it kind of intimidates us, which is why everyone started voicing their opinion in a thread that doesn't really matter (a bit dumb, but I think it makes sense.)

I understand, which was why the ban was reverted once I was made aware of the actions taken. I will be sure to deal with Miffy in a way that is best fitting for the situation.

Right then..

Opinions and tantrums ARE different things, but expressing yourself through whining and complaining that you can't get your way is called a TANTRUM.

Now, you've been told by the Admin, and now by the mods. Get over the changes, stop whining. So you lose the colour on your names? O NOEZ

So you can't show off how much you've begged people to rep you, or how many posts you've managed to spam away in here.

Suck it up, get over it, and stop being so blooming selfish. Those changes were made for the good of the forum, not to wind you up.

I would say there isnt really much to misunderstand there, he made it clear how his feelings were and did it in multiple insulting ways. Saying they were behaving like children (TANTRUM). Mocking them (O NOEZ) Assuming they abuse systems (So you can't show off how much you've begged people to rep you)

and just did it in an overall disrespectful and mean way in no regard to any one elses feelings or that they maybe adults just like him. He may not of directed this at me but i was just as insulted as if he would've.

I'm not trying to stir anything else up I just don't want how i feel he treated people to be brushed off as a misunderstanding because they have a valid backing to why they felt that way after being treated like that

Edit: Unless you were talking about another post in that case im sorry but if i recall it was equal in my opinion lack of regard for others respect

I agreed with the first post overall, but all the insulting behaviour is completely innappropriate and incorrect. Saying the mods don't care is not correct at all.

The moderators on this forum are definitely not jackasses, they are the nicest in EVER. They care about everyone's views on everything, and EVERY single one of them deserves credit for all that they do.

I personally don't think they have to be honest with you. I think that some went a bit too far, but only to get across a point.

Yeah, except he swore, and got across information which I agree with.

No-one should have gone too far, I just hated the changes, but they've all been sorted out now so I don't care.

Why would the mods need to respect you? Have you earned it?

I don't understand why everyone is complaining. They obviously listen, not only did they add rep back but added Thanks as well. Post Count and join date are unnesecary and tell nothing about a member, though unfortunately make some members get big heads about themselves. The Elite Trophy is still there by a different name, only difference is you don't get a blue name. If that's a big deal to you...I just don't know what to say.

Next time anyone makes a thread like this, I advise they think out the first post some more and don't act on emotions. Doing that will get you nowhere.

going to have to agree with everything but your stance on respect. I think respect should be assumed to some degree when talking to people. You don't have to fully respect them but at least treat them with enough respect to not belittle them or mock them or insult them on a personal level. I know there are other ways of getting points acrossed besides just being disrespectful and hurtful.
