Help! Music in level not playing

Archive: 13 posts

So, I'm working on a level on my moon, and the thermometer is a little bit under half way. I have "Arcade Jazz" playing at the beginning. Later on in the level, during my boss battle, I have "The Land of Marianne." When I walk through The Land of Marianne's sensor area, "Arcade Jazz" will stop playing, but "The Land of Marianne" will not begin. I've waited to see if it was just lag, but it didn't start at all. What can I do to remedy this?

Also, sometimes, at the beginning of the level, Arcade Jazz will take about 10 seconds to load up and play.

If you are playing it on your moon, then welcome to the world of Vita. It just behaves weird concerning music boxes. I did see a post in the Help forum here on pre loading music boxes at the entrance with 0 volume to help eliminate that, but in speaking more with Taffey it is more a Moon / local environment issue.

For fun.. publish one locked and try it.

Am I allowed to publish it? It's for the LBPC Contest #10... And I'll check out that other post.2013-03-21 19:05:00

For a test... just rename it to something else and leave it locked. I don't see an issue in trying to get to the root of a problem as well as testing.

However you might ask the Contest Crew how better to go about it. For one.. not sure how they allow beta testing from friends, but I would suspect along the lines of my suggestions. I mean, you want a polished level!

Well, I read the other Audio Lag help thread and I tried that method, but it says it only works for sound bites, and not stock music. (It didn't work) Only the first song on the level plays, and then when I cross the second one, all music just stops.

Is my level broken? ._.

I don't believe so. I had the same exact issue with my level while playing it on my moon. The music simply is 10 to sometimes 30 seconds or more late.

Once published, it worked like it should.

However, I cannot also stress to insure the range of the music box or what you are using to trigger them are really getting triggered. In my case I knew it as such because it was triggering other things that worked fine. ...just the music would arrive much later while testing on my moon.

What do you have triggering the boxes?2013-03-22 12:02:00

At first, I just had the music boxes with their own trigger radius, but then I tried a player sensor for the second song and that still didn't work.2013-03-24 01:35:00

That still sounds similar to what I had. I finally took the player sensor and wired a counter to make a perm switch and hooked that to the box as well as a light. That way, I knew I wasn't crazy and I should be hearing music.

However in my case, it all worked fine once I published and played it on my earth rather than my moon. ..well, I ended up removing the light, but you hopefully know what I mean. lol

I had this problem on Hexagonal (http://vita.lbp.me/v/bxq71). What I ended up doing was emitting the music box when I wanted it to play. To do that I put a battery into the music box, put both on a piece of material, and then captured the material. In my case it was some invisible sticker panel, but it doesn't really matter much.

Then when I wanted that track to play, I destroyed the original music box and emitted the new one.

I don't recall if I still had problems with certain tracks not wanting to play, but I eventually got a system working that cycled through 4 tracks. It could be worth a shot, but I have no idea what causes it.

Thanks for chiming in Comph!

Just curious.. the story levels didn't seem to have this problem and in the case of my survival level, I can't see that I did anything (pardon the pun) "outside the box".

..so is it just a known bug in some odd cases?
