how to male a fully working checkpoint :/

im working on a 2D shooter/platformer were you play as a block and you control him with a controlinator and i have made checkpoints and they work perfectly except for one thing when the new block character spawns all the wires i had connected to its controlinator are disconnected and then you can only movie him in one direction and you are not able shoot, i could not include checkpoints but that would make it too hard im sure you could do something with the memorizer but i cant seem to get to grips with it! :/2013-03-20 22:46:00

thats weird, do u have the controllinator on the block? or is it send/recieve?

For memorizers, if u want players to continue at the last cp they got, u need to have multiple entrances. (hidden behind cps or something)

one on the block and one following the block on a piece of hologram that makes me think maybe i should just have one controlinator and put it on the block!2013-03-20 23:37:00

probably it might work than... if your lvl doesnt use all layers u can let the action happen in the front layer and place all cps hidden in the back layers with some background hiding it... well if its 2D than its no problem anyways. But! U will encounter further problems, if u die too far away from a cp... and the block is destroyed and the camera is on it .. it will change the camera to normal ... u can either have a loading screen or put the camera on a follower which goes back to a cp, if the player isnt there... its complicated lol i done it once. If your controlinator is on the piece of holo you have following your ingame characters is the one that controls your, so that you have a bunch of wires coming off of it, onto the character then of course when you emit a new one the wires aren't attached. Because the new one isn't the one that you connected them too.
Is your level one player? If so you can have a controlinator on your little block character set to receive and to receive closest player input, and use that controlinator instead of the one on your block. Then you can still be sitting on a controlinator on a piece of holo material yet have the controlinater that controls the block attached to the block itself, that way when ever a new one is emitted it is ready to be controlled. Does that make sense?
