Benefits of of a vita before i buy it?

Archive: 19 posts

Goodmorning all!

I am planning of picking up a ps vita.
Main question is... What can i expect?

When i play LBPvita, can i play online online for example LBP2 levels on the comunity like i'm used to playing @ home on my PS3? Or is the LBPvita a complete different game?
Am i allowed to play online with friends who are playing @ their PS3?
For level building... Can i continue building from the point i left on my PS3 in LBP2?

And for Cross controller pack.... Do i need the LBP vita game to play it connected to my ps3?

Lots of questions and they might be answered already on the forum. I tried to find, but could not find them.

Reason to ask is that i will need to go for my work 2 months from Holland to France and Italy. Road assistance (tripple A in USA or AA in England so you get an idea of what I do for a living)
I need to live in a camper that period of time, and I would like to bring the vita instead of my whole PS3 and do the same things a on my PS3 if possible.

If the LBP vita is a complete different community than LBP2 on my PS3, I dont know if I am willing to spend arround 300 dollars to get everything I need to play and rather bring my whole ps3 system with me this summer.

Hope someone can give me some advice/feedback on this.

Thanks you very much in advance!

Regards,

Jeroen

You can't play LBP2 community levels, but you can play all of the LBPV community levels and even download the ones you like the most for times when you don't have Internet access.

LBPV is a completely new game, with a whole new story mode and and you get the exact same create mode experience as you get in LBP2, plus a whole bunch of new tools and features.

Am i allowed to play online with friends who are playing @ their PS3?
Unfortunately that's technically not possible.

For level building... Can i continue building from the point i left on my PS3 in LBP2?
Since LBPV is a different and completely new game that's also not possible.

And for Cross controller pack.... Do i need the LBP vita game to play it connected to my ps3?
The Cross Controller Pack is completely separate from LBPV. All you need for that is LBP2 and a Vita. And a PS3, of course.

If you are going to be traveling, I think you will love the Vita. As Syroc said it is totally a different separate platform, but the story mode is as charming as LBP1. Create mode is wonderful with some extra tools and gadgets, plus I love using the back panel camera position, zoom in and zoom out while fiddling with stuff. Very handy when getting emitter object placement set up just right.

It is just a whole new world of LBP to be honest, but I have found it more than worth the price of admission.

Well, most of your questions got answered allready... The Cross Controller Pack is PS3 only and needs a Vita to be played, but its not available for the Vita as DLC.

LBPV might not have the better online experience lol but it got some unique features which are great for creating, jwwphotos pointed some out allready, using the back panel for camera position while tweaking something is just so handy.... well and what i really love about LBPV is the superfast availability.. if u got the game running once and are in the editor and u lay the vita aside... come back later, u need 5 seconds! or less to be in the game and to be creating again.... i love that so much... this and several other reasons doesnt want me to go creating on the ps3. There are many new other features (memorizer, dephyscalizing things, invisible material, camera works quite good, and so on)

You need to know if the price is right (c) ... lol, all i can say since i got the vita and have lbpv... i havnt bought anything else, to play on it.... and i dont even have much interest in doing so atm... ofc if something really good comes out im in for it... but atm.. lbpv satisfies all my vita needs lol.... if u are crazy for lbp and love creating i guess its a good choice... just think about, when the ps4 comes out the vita will be integrated in that system aswell... so if u are thinking about getting a ps4 someday... u may not regret to have a vita than.

And also, its just a **** fine handheld.

To add to the discussion, LBPVita, while not being compatible with LBP2, is still a fantastic game, and it's worth the ~$300.

Ok u got me...
Just ordered it. Will be delivered tomorow with LBPV and a 8GB memorycard..
Already bought the cross controller pack today, let the fun continue!!!
It's so true... I like LBP the most of all. Can imagine people are satisfied with a vita with only lbpv on it.

By the way.. I am planning to get the PS4 as well when it comes available and I already did some research about the vita compatebility, it should be ok then. Also did read sony is planning with PS4 to make everything playable on multiple devices, so at that time there might be a possibility continue on the vita where i left on the PS4 and counterwise.

Thank you all for your feedback on this. I appriciate it very much...

Little (big) update

The game LBPV is brilliant! Never thought a game on a handheld can be so amazing! Thank you again for your advice in this. Worth every penny imho.
Now I need to get some people on my friendlist who also play this, what section can I make a call people to add Mokum_GTT to their list and ace all prizes?

The setup of cross controller for LBP2 was a bit problematic yesterday. It was stuck on downloading the app to the vita. After I did assign for both the PS3 and the vita a static IP-number in my LAN the problem was solved. No idea why, but that was the trick to get it to work.

Ok thats it, i'm rushing back now to my vita to continue the 1st story. 1 part and i completed it and am allowed to play online

See u guys later...

Jeroen

Most welcome!

You might post a new thread in this current forum (Everything else LBP Vita) and specify you are wanting new Vita friends. I don't have any luck with those across the pond in connecting, so hope you find some folks local.

I will be getting a Vita soon also as Mokum has given me great reviews on it and LBP Vita. I did research on it too - I figured that the connection between the U.S. and Europe would be an issue just because it's a handheld

If you are searching for new friends, I'll add you! Connection shouldn't be a problem, since I live in Holland too.
I also got friends all over the world without connection troubles/lags.

But since people in the US can play Europeans levels and vice versa, wouldn't work to connect with someone outside your country?

Maybe I am not understanding you, but even LBP2 has issues connecting with someone across the pond. It is more a time out issue on loading the other persons profile, or at least a time out on connecting. If both have excellent bandwidth and connections, then it should work regardless, but I have found that folks from EU I just cannot seem to connect with.

I do have an exelent bandwith.. jww, add me, and we will test it out before Cradle spends a lot of money.
That guy from east coast USA can connect and play with me, If you can too, Cradle can run to the store and get his Vita

If I had room I would! My list is full!! Let me take a look and maybe I can find an old one to get rid of. Stay tuned!!

..regardless, it is quite a bit of run no matter if you can connect with anyone or not.

I can load up levels made by people in EU and JPN in no problem. That goes with loading someones profile.

We were discussing issues joining other players, not loading levels. Loading levels should really not be a problem at all as they are on the same servers, no matter where the player is located that published the level.2013-03-30 03:16:00
