Why You Bought Your PS3

Hi I was wondering why you bought your PS3!!! if you got it for a game (lbp).
or for the blu ray

well i got mine for LittleBigPlanet!! yep thats is the main reason i got mine!!

and all the nice exclusives coming out dont hurt!

I originally got mine for MGS4 (though i bought it ages before). I suppose i just wanted to get the next generation console. When PS3 wasn't out i was SO close to getting a 360 (around the time dead rising came out).... but i'm very glad i didn't now. What would i of done without MGS4? Plus the failure rate of 360's is terrible.2008-08-17 18:48:00

To be honest, I did get my PS3 because of LittleBigPlanet. I mean, I was like "yeah, guess I'll get one eventually or something"... But when I saw LBP, I was just blown away. It was an immediate "yes!", and it was just a matter of "when". So then I heard about the upcoming MGS4 bundle... And then, I made my move. 2008-08-17 18:49:00

I'm not a fanboy - i can see the positives and negatives of each. PS3 does come out on top though. The Wii isn't too bad - i've got one in the house. Super Mario Galaxy is awesome!2008-08-17 21:35:00

I'm thinking Fable 2 - ooooh yes. Though it's not as impressive so far as i would of thought. I picked up fable 1 not knowing a thing about it. hated it at first. then once i was an adult i loved it.		2008-08-17 21:45:00

Y'see - i can't agree with that. Even when living in a hall in Uni last year who all had 360's; they were always complaining with how crap Live is (their words not mine). The price on top of it just makes it worse to be honest. I got a good time on live with a few games and when i go to the PS3 counter part it always out does it. And with home coming along, which will again be free, i can't see how the 360's online is better.

I got mine because I just wanted it for so long. I won some money on a bet (once off gambling, gotta love beginners luck ) and had enough for a PS3 and HDTV. I was studying for my leaving cert at the time so I didn't get the PS3 until the day I finished my exams. Already had Oblivion and the TV bought .

I never even thought about getting a 360 TBH I just knew I wanted a PS3. I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy but I definitely am a Sony fan.

I thought blu-ray would win against HD-DVD and I just preferred the games on PS3; MGS4, Uncharted (I really like ND games), and it had a number of multi-platform games that I wanted as well. And then LittleBigPlanet which I have been looking forward to since it was announced. Assassin's Creed was also a big one for me when it was PS3 exclusive as I love the Prince of Persia games.

So yeah, PS3 was the only console for me . I've never really thought seriously about getting either of the other consoles.		2008-08-17 22:13:00

I dont want to make this a system war but from what you just said, it seems like you havent actually played Live. It is better imo. It is just seamless and much bigger. Im not talking about JUST online play im talking the Marketplace, the sheer amount of content on it, the friend system, etc etc. I just think the online is better.
ALSO, about the whole price thing, for the PS3 there are a lot of small things that have to be bought on the side like HDMI cables. They charged 600 for the system and couldn't even throw in a 15 dollar cable?! WTF is up with that?! The wireless controllers cost more and (this may not be sony's fault) but some games that came out for the 360 a year before and were being sold new for 30 bucks (Oblivion) were being sold for 60 despite being older titles and just new to the system.		2008-08-17 22:50:00

1) Online is debateable and a matter of taste.
2) XBOX has more hidden charges than the PS3. No wifi ftl.
3) The games are obvious - no one's going to come out with a game at launch for 30 bucks. They do have to change a little for different systems.

The only reason i have a PS3 is for LBP
I bought it off my mate Adam just before Christmas. He managed to get it as he moved a mate into his new house and the dude he helped move had a XBOX360 and a PS3 but said he was gonna throw it away because he hated it (the dude is a bit loaded lol) I said to my mate i would give him ?200 for it and he said yes as he played it and hated it. It had 6 games with it as well. I couldn't pass up on the barging. Guess what, i hate it too lol. Me and everyone i know has a Xbox360 and we all love it lol. Mine has broke a million times and i don't care as i just take it to my local GAME store and they just give me another one. LBP, Home(if they ever release the bloody thing),M.A.G and the new trophy system is gonna change my mind on the PS3, I'm sure

If your referring to me then i have both a PS3 & a XBOX360. I also had a wii and had all 3 at the same time but got really bored of the wii and sold it, but now regret it as it is so great as a party machine when you have a load of friends over.2008-08-18 00:14:00

Back on topic...

I honestly got it because of LBP. I had been slightly tempted before, but then I saw some LBP trailers and I was like "I need a PS3!!!!". That then led me onto other games which I wanted that I didn't really pay attention to before. LBP was the gateway to PS3 reallly for me. Also, I have a PS1, PS2 and PSP too, that could've helped a little. 		2008-08-18 01:38:00

I bought my PS3 last July. I wanted it for MGS4, GT5, Tekken and some other stuff but, the thing that made me swipe my debit card for it was LittleBigPlanet @ GDC.
Later, I bought an Xbox360 for some of the Xbox exclusives and the fact that the majority of my friends would rather pay 50$ per year for online play than to get online for free. Go figure. I don't regret either purchase though. Both consoles have been great so far.		2008-08-18 01:38:00

well it wasn't really 1 reason, I liked what Sony had, from LBP, blu-ray, hard drive, free internet, processor and wireless controllers. And so many other reasons, I also enjoy the wii also but I like what Sony brings to the console, they have always had multiple types of games, never sticking with a single type of game. I bought it originally for GTA4 and Socom Confrontation.

Now that LBP has sunk its big burlap teeth into me I'm having serious issues with which game I'm going to play. Socom I can pick up and play anytime but I'm sure LBP is going to draw me deep into the world of creation. Since I like most forms of art its really a no brainer.		2008-08-20 10:15:00

You could say I got it because I was pumped for Warhawk, but not really...
